Watching the pre game Show, it looks like we are playing a 433 with falcao to come off the bench.

But much more width then recently no? Rafael is much better down the right. On the left Di Maria can move there and our LWB too.

Not really much different from the Burnley game where we looked awful only improving slightly when Welbeck came on to provide some pace. There's no width or pace in that front 3. A decent team would find it easy enough to defend against imo.

Since its QPR we'll probably still win comfortably.

Was obvious from seeing the lineup that it's a 4-4-2 diamond.

LvG commented that Blind will play as a midfielder and yet people were putting him into wing back position.

This is amazing, even after putting the team sheet out the QPR coaches won't have the slightest clue what we are going to do, there could be 5 or 6 different ways that team will line up, who knows what Louis van Gaal wants to do.

    100% in lineup game, yay.

I hope it's a diamond, and not 433/4231 with Mata or Rooney wide.

Any QPR experts know what Clint Hill's like at left-back? Seems a bit of a weak spot there... At the very least I don't think we'll have to worry too much about his attacking forays! Reminds me of Football Manager when the opposition has someone shite at fullback and you direct all your attacks down that side. We'll see, I suppose.

Hopefully van Persie can step it up today and we don't need to call upon Falcao. Good line up though, delighted if we're back to 4 at the back. Di Maria and Rafael will be the main providers from out wide but hopefully we can finally impose ourselves centrally. And play quicker, more fluid.

    Good team.
    4 at the back confirmed,nice!

Falcao on the bench though, had hoped he would start but strong team anyway.
    Im ready

    ITS CONFIRMED LADS

    BBC:

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal on Sky Sports: "We will play with four at the back today, in midfield we play with four and Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney up front.

"I don't have five defenders fit so it was easier for me to decide the formation. Chris Smalling and Phil Jones are injured so I have to use the players I have available.

"Falcao has come from Colombia and has jetlag and he has to adapt to the culture and all the new players so I don't think it was right to start with him today."

I wonder how long it'll take for Di Maria and Falcao to grove in. That's usually the main issue when we have players joining from the other leagues. The time to adjust will be crucial.

Yup. Feels like people are being negative for negative's sake.

With Falcao on the bench, Rooney and RVP will have to bust their asses to keep their place in the team. Are they up to it? we'll see.

Perfect isn't it! If the game stays 0-0 then the bench awaits...Falcao scores the winner and suddenly Rooney/RVP will be worried.

The way it should be at a big club.

Whichever formation it is we still have the same problems we've had all season, an attack devoid of width, pace or penetration. His team selections/formations have been a fu cking joke so far.
    Not sure if serious.

Don't often see diamond formation used these days, only slight concern is real lack of width with AdM in the middle but still it's a well balanced team, strongest team we've fielded this season so I'm extremely excited!

4 at the back, oh feck me i hope we play well and win convincingly just so Van Gaal may ditch 3-5-2 long term.

Excellent team and hopefully formation too. Here is hoping for a much better performance, I don't care about the result (winning would be nice hopefully).

Rooney, Mata and RVP need to do a lot better together compared to recent games.

This is the formation that I think is the best for the players we have. Excited to see how it works today.

That his formations/selections has been a fecking joke? Yes, that is both incorrect and disrespectful.

No, we have not been good - there you were right.

You think they've been good?? I love LVG but I'm still going to say it as I see it. Rooney, Mata and RVP don't work as a front 3

The thing with the diamond and having a player like di Maria in it is that it easily transitions since he's comfortable with getting wide and beating a man or using the overlap from the full back. So he would move over and if Rooney drops deep then it becomes a 4-2-3-1 instantly.

why not read other post before posting , you would then see we are not playing 3 at the back.
Falcao is not 100% match fit, makes sense not to start him.

Falcao himself said he was fully match fit in his interview he did and it wasn't confirmed when I started writing that there's was tons of replies made before I finished. Calm down fella.
