We must beat city tomorrow! Not only we cut the gap at the top, we will kind of cement our second place.

Mourinho and Guardiola were very friendly when Guardiola was still playing. They are probably very alike, and so can't stand each other in a competitive environment.

Yeah - strictly business and not personal. Not like Mou and Wenger for example.

I was about to mention that. How can journalists be backing a club that is state backed by Qatar. Especially against a club like Utd with a rich history and a plc that must do everything transparently.

Right now, and in time we'll look back and hardly remember, guardiola is pretty much untouchable. He can do anything he wants and everybody is gobbling up his shit. When he hits a rough spot again (and he will) I think things will get very ugly. And all of these ass kissers will be the first ones to batter him. The fact that they can blatantly right such tripe about a dodgy backed club, with a far from impressive contribution to the international team in recent years being good for English football is a measure of how far up guardiolas ass these guys are.

Would cringe to see them at football writers events pandering to him, going telling their pals how well they get along with him.

The game being called off would be a disaster.

We get a win tomorrow and that could have a huge mental impact on City. It's a huge game at the end of a difficult week for United. If it's called off then it's a huge anticlimax, not just because of the spectacle, but the potential harm we could do on them both in terms of closing the gap and the mental impact that could have.

We don't want to be going into the rearranged derby next year 10 or so points behind. I know it could work the other way and City may drop some points and the gap could be closer, but the rhythm they're in at the moment that's not looking likely. We got a huge opportunity to disrupt that rhythm going into the Christmas period.

The gap is big now, but it's surmountable. This game has to go ahead.

Agreed. Even if we lose I won't regret a lack of postponing, let's just play it as it has fallen and beat them

Henry Winter in today's Times: City winning tomorrow would be a 'boon for English football'

EDIT: Saw that this was mentioned earlier, he and Oliver Kay very much caught up in the Pep praise parade.

A win completely blows the race open. 5 points is nothing at this stage and it would show City and the rest of the league that they are not unbeatable so they will hopefully start to drop more points. A draw will be pretty lousy for us.

I'm leaning towards hoping it gets postponed so that we get Pogba back for it. Without him I fear we'll just have no composure or control on the ball.

I'm surprised so many people would like it to be postponed to a later date. Sure we would have Pogba back but we could also have injuries by then or be on a bad run.

Right now we're coming off the back of two good away wins in the league. City have needed late goals in their last few games and got beaten in Europe during the week. It's a great time to play them IMO, with or without Pogba.

I thought this at first but it makes more sense to me to have a chance to build a gap between us and Chelsea while closing the gap on City. Sure we could lose but City are having a dip last couple of games.

Well no Ibra is available, but have a think about it. You were talking about having reserves if 1 or 2 players were ineffectual, I was simply pointing out we have depth in attacking positions too. And although Lukaku hasn't been scoring, he has still been playing well, contributing to the team.
Generally we have some kind of depth , but for tomorrow - none .

Us missing Pogba is a much bigger impact for this game then City losing a tiny bit of form but still getting last minute winners. If they were flying or struggling, both teams would still approach the game in the same way and form often goes out the window for games like this.

We still have Rashford, Martial, Lukaku and Zlatan available for tomorrow. We're hardly short on firepower.

6 points between us and Chelsea in 3rd place, and only 5 points separating us and City. If we win. It sounds too good to be true.

I’m really undecided on which way it’ll go, but one thing is for sure I’m not nearly as nervous as usual heading in to the derby. Worst case, I still think a 5 point gap is an excellent lead with the away head to head out of the way and the home game to come. I’m also boosted by the fact that a draw is a much better result for City than for United, which means there’s far more pressure on United to score first than for City - we should always be in the game with a chance to walk away with a decent result.

I think the City team pretty much picks itself for tomorrow. Ederson, Walker, Kompany, Otamendi, Delph, Fernandinho, Silva, De Bruyne, Sterling, Sane, Aguero. Jesus chucked in the mix if we are chasing a goal later on in the game. Im really intrigued to see how United line up, I think there’s less predictability in your line-up given Pogba is out.

I’m looking forward to it - should be a cracker.

    Totally agree:

Bailly, Jones, Carrick, Fellaini, Pogba, Matic and Ibrahimovic would all benefit from game being delayed.

That’s an entire spine of our team!!
Pogba? He would be suspended even if it's postponed.

This is a massive game now especially with Chelsea losing. We are the only team that can stop City running away with this title and capable of bringing the fight to them. Lose tommorow and they have one hand on that trophy. Simple as that.

Thinking about donating my two tickets (NW Quadrant) to whomever makes the largest donation to charity, is that something I could do via Redcafe?

I'm not buying this notion of City running away with the league. Last time I checked there are still 22 games left to play after tomorrow's match, that's a total of 66 points left to play for, and as far as I'm aware, no one hands out fecking winners medals in early December, ask Newcastle what is was like being 12 points clear in January for some context.

City are arguably looking dodgy at the moment and as many people have said before, Pep's sides start to fade when they have to play 3 games a week due to the intensity he demands from them every game. They simply cannot continue to play the way they are and expect to win every game. By the end of January the league will look completely different. Don't buy into pundits and the media trying to call this over now, they're only doing it to be first in the race of "I told you this would happen back in November".

Shitting myself. Might just start doing some class A to numb/forget the whole day then catch up on the results on Monday.

The build up is just amazing so energetic and shows how important this game is.
    Season defining?

If we look at their last 4 games, I think we have more than decent chance to win this one. Losing Pogba will have big effect on us, as we will lose little bit of composure without him. But I think we are capable of winning this one even without Pogba. 2-0 win for United!

Only if they play the game before Wednesday.
I thought it would be an 'outstanding' game if it's postponed, meaning every factors that would have affected the game would be carried over?

Of course not. Pogba will serve a three match PL suspension - he'll sit out the three next matches, regardless of who they are playing.

Not sure if domestic cup matches counts anymore - they used to at least.

he is banned for the next games, whoever they are against.

If this game is postponed, no chance of it being replayed in place of any of the next 3 games, which come back to back.

I suspect earliest would be late Jan.

No, why would you think that?

Previewing this weekend's meeting between Manchester's great rivals on Eurosport's Facebook page, Cantona said: 'On one side, my heart was, is, and will forever be beating for United.

'On the other side, there is this bald guy whose vision of "total football" gives me a f****** hard on.

'A defence genius Mourinho against an offense genius Guardiola. Borg vs McEnroe. Who do you choose? Come on United!'

    Gonna go with...
    -----------------------De Gea
    Valencia - Lindelöf - Smalling - Rojo - Young
    --------------Fellaini - Matic - Herrera
    ------------------Lukaku - Martial

Feck me, that's a spacegoat 11 if I ever saw one. So much abuse have been dished out to that lot over the years. What a difference a new manager and 18 months makes.

Still think City have too much in their locker. They'll control the midfield, create chances and concede few chances. If we can soak up the pressure and take advantage of our set pieces we just might nick something here -- but I just think there are much more likely scenarios that won't go our way (especially without Pogba).
