Rooney has been better than most, not sure why people want him off. We have been playing with 9 with miki and lingard on the pitch.
He's been one of the better players (not that it means much), but that doesn't fit the narrative.

Mediocre first half, really poor beginning and then slightly better. Some tactical issues, and a lot of players really letting the game pass them by (Lingard, Mkhi, Pogba for large parts, not impressed with Fellaini's passing either). The good thing is that while we've been swamped for large parts of the game, we're still in this and probably should've been level at HT. A change or 2 at half time (Martial and/or Rashford) could do us the world of good.

City look very nervous at the back, Bravo especially, when we actually test them.

    We're so damn lucky it's just 1-2 - we could/should be down by 3 or 4.

Mkhi just horrible - bring Rash on
Jesse seems to have oiled shoes today cause he can't control a single ball - bring Mata/Martial on

    Hard to watch tbh...

This, they have a big space to exploit on their wings especially so we need to use that.

Would think Blind would be good for that but our defenders are not getting any time on the ball and no one is making runs off the ball

What the feck happened to the camera view on Sky for Zlatan's chance? I was in two minds whether we were actually still playing or whether the half time whistle had gone.

I think the first half was more of Utd play shite than City play amazing. Almost everyone lose or gave away a pass and micki and lingard certainly doesn't look fit.

No injuries but micki, lingard and some of the doubtful players isn't look like fit enough. Time for martial and Rashford to come in.

Shaw, Valencia, Fellaini by far our best players so far.

Rashford for Lingard in HT please!

Sky pundits are tight: Stones are fault. Bravo definitely called - Stones needed to pull out
I'm not watching the game, but watched the video above and that is exactly what I thought. Stones has to take a lot of the blame for our goal. He got in his own goalies way.

We need to use the width when we attack and use ibrahimovich. We are creating nothing from the centre and get crowded out. Few times we could have crossed we ended hitting the first player. Need Martial in for Lingard

2 midfielders can't compete. Either bring one more on, or drop Rooney deeper.

United on the whole has been sluggish. They have been second to City in every play. Needs to step up the tempo during the second half otherwise the first competitive loss of the Mou era is just around the corner.

I wholeheartedly disagree. I don't think I could disagree more actually. You have to press a Guardiola team and playing Zlatan and Rooney up top, with Pogba and Fellaini in midfield on their own is suicidal. Not shocked at this performance at all.
Those 4 have done alright both on the ball and for pressing. Its the wingers that have had shockers, giving it away constantly and not letting us have proper counters.

Pogba really needs to step up. He is supposed to be the best player on the pitch bar DDG.

No comments regarding our defence? Shaw was too casual at times.

The lack of a not-gonna-happen press hasn't been helped by the fact that we have quite simply played really poorly. Some players just been straightforward abysmal.

I don't know wtf Mourinho was thinking by starting Lingard. At least with Mikhi you could say he's used him a little before.
Yes. Mkhitarian is a top player having a shocker so you can edcuse selecting him. Lingard is just about decent. This isnt a game fot decent.

But what disappoints me most is how lacking in cohesion and progressive football we appear to be. This has been a very 'moyeseque' big game peformance. And also Jose's answer to Pep's set up.

Having both Rooney and Fellaini in MF doesn't work because they're both so bad on the ball.

Need to have a MF three that is comfortable taking the ball under pressure would be perfect.

Pogba - Blind - Mkhi would do that.

Feck off with blind overating I have had it

People are going a bit OTT, they were better, we were much worse and made them look better than they are, but some posts how they "outclassed" us, bloody hell!

Well they have outclassed us... If this isn't outclassing what is? If Aguero was here , this game would be over by now

Pogba really needs to step up. He is supposed to be the best player on the pitch bar DDG.

He's been playing well considering he's a deeper position than De Bruyne.

Blind and Lingard need to step it up and so does Mkhi. Awful

Blind may have just lost his place to smalling. No clue how to pick up kdb. Pogba wasted as a holding mid

Best way is to flood the middle. Get a second DM in there, whether Herrera/schneiderlin or blind and push pogba further forwards for Rooney. Not having a pop at Rooney but need to sacrifice him or pogba and pogba has more to offer imo.

I've not been that impressed by City I must admit, United have made it easy for them by standing around like statues. We saw in the last five minutes of that half that if we get into them and make our physical superiority count that they'll crumble.

We need to shore up the middle so it's a clean choice between rooney or pogba and for me Pogba is showing more and has that pace that we need, we shouldn't make him stay deeper. Could move rooney wide but why do that when we have rashford/martial on the bench.

Rooney is not playing in central midfield and is one of our better players. We need our creative players. Far more important to replace the completely useless (in this match) lingard and miki. If those two players contribute something positive it will relieve the midfield.

We can win this game, just get Carrick on and remove one of the attacking midfielders, either lingard or Mikhi off.

Why? Because I slated a player who should've scored an absolute sitter and the majority of everyone else in here did? If it was Rooney we would've destroyed him.

He's already scored from a Bravo gift, and yes he should've scored again but calling him a 'tosser' is over the top. Especially when his team-mates have been much worse.
