Noway btw but one can dream

Those 3 behind Zlatan give us real pace on the counter attack. I genuinely believe that's the way to beat City tomorrow, quick, lethal counter attacks with pace, Martial and Rashford creating one on ones with their fullback's.

Instead I fear José will play like he has against Pep before. We will be told to play like a small team drawing a big team at home in the cup, we'll sit on the edge of our own box, let them dominate territory and possession without challenge. Our plan will be long goal kicks to Fellaini, try to win free kicks in wide areas and use the height and brute force of Fellaini, Zlatan, Pogba, Bailly against the smaller City players.

I hope I'm wrong and we're brave enough to go out there to out play them as much as beat them up physically. We have players just as good technically, far better full backs, and a renewed confident crowd behind us. This is our chance, we seem to be fully fit while they're missing 2 of the best around in Kompany and Aguero, I hope we don't play to contain them and see what we can do from set pieces.

    Confirmed squad
    • De Gea
    • Romero
    • Johnstone
    • Valencia
    • Smalling
    • Blind
    • Bailly
    • Shaw
    • Fellaini
    • Herrera
    • Schneiderlin
    • Pogba
    • Mkhitaryan
    • Mata
    • Lingard
    • Young
    • Rashford
    • Martial
    • Rooney
    • Ibrahimovic

We're bringing both Romero and Johnstone? That's kinda weird. I assumed Johnstone would make the bench since he wasn't involved with the u23s and Mourinho mentioned jet lag for Romero.

To me this is the way we should always play. To get the best out of Zlatan we need pace and the ability to beat your man. We will also be entertaining and that is something we have missed in the last couple of years

I don't dislike Romero but Johnstone would be enough. Memphis should be in the squad. And where the hell is TFM. Darmian obviousley off

Wouldn't mind Memphis as a last gasp sub, especially until Martial gets his head straight (this is assuming Rashford is already on, of course...).

I still think they'll get plenty of game time in the Europa League and Cup games (maybe not much Europa League time for TFM). Just don't expect them to get much time in the league. If certain players perform really well in the cup and Europe maybe they could break into the league squad, though I kinda doubt it tbh. Have a feeling the players who have consistently made his 18-man squad are the only ones who will be making his league XI. Memphis might potentially break into it with good performances, but honestly I'm convinced we'd sell him if we got a decent offer.

You need 3 GKs in a squad just in case 1 is injured in the warm-up.

For me it's the RW postion that I'm worries about, as much as I'd like to see Mhkitarayan there it's going to Mata. :(

I'm going with Lingard for the RW position. You need an engine against MC, someone who can track back and also with the speed to turn defence into attack.

Sorry but Jones would not do a better job in the midfield over any of our midfielders.
Jones did perform better than some of our midfielder in that holding midfield role he played under Ferguson. You should rewatch some of his performance considering you could not remember whether he has played as a midfielder before. Nevertheless, my first choice was Schneiderlin with Jones being the alternative. Jones would do a good job breaking up play ala Dier at Spurs, albeit more limited in his offensive play.

If that is the squad then we are very light on defenders (or even someone who can stand in for a defender such as Carrick)

Only 1 bench spot for a defender. Smalling logically ahead of Jones, Darmian and Rojo.

Besides, Mourinho's team has one of the lowest injuries.

Can't sleep, tried to watch our games from last season but it seems nothing helps.

Think it will be Nolito and Navas out wide with Sterling as false 9.
I hope so. I don't see Sterling doing a whole lot in that role. He hasn't shown anything that Blind and Bailly would struggle with. He exploits chaos; he doesn't really create it that well. The attacking three behind him would have to undo the defense for him to matter as a false 9.

What about Young in the RW role? He was immense in that 4-2 win at OT a year and half back.

I don't think it would be this match, but he probably has something like that in him still. He's too committed and receptive to instructions to be written off yet. I could see him making the most of a start somewhere down the line. Why would you think tomorrow maybe?

I am asking the same since I moved to London more than a year ago. Still looking.

Anyway, I will be watching in a pub near London Bridge. It's not pro-United but it's ok.

    What pub is that mate?

I could remember he played there under fergie. There is a reason he wasn't used more permanently there, cause although he may have had the odd good game, he eventually got found out.

The fact you want a player who hasn't played in midfield for years over our actual midfielders is what I find strange tbh.

I think Pogba is going to be immense. A Guardiola side always tries to win the ball back as soon as they lose it by putting in early pressure, and Pogba is so hard to win the ball from. He shields it with his physical presence and technical turns and twists.

Pogba will be our key to victory, when we win the ball, we should feed it to him, and when he holds onto it City will have to scramble back.

Honestly I can't see us losing this.
I can't see us winning this either. I hope to be proven wrong but something about Pep just struck fear in me, I think he has a mental edge over Mourinho just like how Mourinho always beat Wenger. That's why I think we will lose.

Anyone know what the Jose vs. Pep all-time record is?
