    This isn't actually true.

    2011 - Real Madrid 1 Barcelona 3

Real Madrid lineup (4-2-3-1): Iker Casillas; Marcelo, Pepe, Sergio Ramos, Fabio Coentrao; Xabi Alonso, Lassana Diarra ; Cristiano Ronaldo, Mesut Özil, Angel Di Maria;Karim Benzema

    2012 - Barcelona 1 Real Madrid 2

Real Madrid lineup (4-2-3-1): Iker Casillas; Fabio Coentrao, Pepe, Sergio Ramos, Alvaro Arbeloa; Xabi Alonso, Sami Khedira; Cristiano Ronaldo, Mesut Özil, Angel Di Maria;Karim Benzema

I always wondered if this would be the time to get someone to anchor the midfield, so we not isolating fellaini, who is always a redcard waiting to happen if he gets frustrated, mata and rooney changed for 2 more mobile players to hit them on the break, still think rashford could be quiet the Ace in the hole off the bench

I know it's early days but I'm hoping to see the first signs of Mourinho's 3T philosophy in action (turnover, transition and tempo) which he used to such great effect with Porto, Chelsea Mark 1 and Inter Milan.

The way his teams sprung from defence, generally after a turnover of possesion, was a sight to behold and, as this is perhaps the first big game he's had with United, I'm looking for signs that he could achieve the same here.

Of course, the caveat is we still have a number of slow-ish players in the starting eleven - but as he starts to integrate Miki, Lingard and Rashford etc.. hopefully we'll start to see some of these famous 'defensive springs' in action - and move from back to front with intent and impetus.

Just went to City's forum and a lot of them think they'll lose and the more optimistic seem to be going for a draw. A bit surprised by that, thought they'd be very confident after their start even without Aguero.

The FA will screw them again somehow obviously, might aswell just admit defeat now

Celtic - Rangers games have traditionally always been on at mid-day; so to reduce the threat of trouble caused by fans being pissed-up all day etc.

There's also a very depressing stat of a huge increase in domestic violence in the homes of Celtic & Rangers fans on derby day / weekend, so that's a massive issue also.

They should have played it on Sunday instead though.

Scottish football needs this game big time & the exposure it will bring back to their league; as now, most non-Celtic & Rangers fans will not be tuning in - unless you're Scottish of course; but it's a massive opportunity lost & there must be some other logic behind the Saturday choice.

It could be that the cops want to limited the amount of partying done before the game i.e. from Friday to Sunday, instead of what it is - Friday to Saturday..

The cops have taken a pretty hardcore approach to this game - have a gander at this statement from them:

    http://www.scotland.police.uk/whats...r/celtic-v-rangers-saturday-10-september-2016
So many things to consider when scheduling big games like these.
As you say the cops will make their suggestions, TV companies will have their say-Sky have first pick of most live games but now don't have Saturday evening PL rights that's off the agenda.
City and (maybe) Celtic have Tuesday night CL match commitments so Sunday is also a no go.

Pleased it's the first game of the weekend, limits waiting time and I just can't wait now.

They have not really looked into Valencia, shaw, fellaini and Mkhi's fitness problems, mata, rooney and martial are not exactly in sensational form, 3 of the 4 probably will start, but no one can really predict what will happen, still a little worried playing that 2 man midfield if Pogba starts flying out of position a little too much giving city space, but I am sure Jose wants us has compact and tight has possible. It depends on how much pace we have in this team to hurt them, just don't see how an out of an inconsistent rooney, martial out of form, mata and zlaten with little pace. Rashford would be so effective if the game is tight in the last 35 minutes, throwing Rashford fresh legs to give city something else to think about would be interesting. Still at then end of the day, these 2 teams are a complete mystery when they face one another

    To start the game
    DDG
    valencia blind bailly shaw
    pogba fellaini
    mata rooney martial
    zlaten

    to finish the game
    DDG
    valencia blind bailly shaw
    pogba fellaini
    rooney Mkh rashford
    zlaten

If news everyone is available which is a relief

Really hope Mkhitaryan starts. Probably Martial on the other wing too and then we'll have options like Lingard/Mata/Rashford on the bench to change things if needed. Would be great to have that pace out wide and the ability to dribble out of tight spaces

Any update on Fellaini and his back injury in particular? Jose says everyone is fit, which is a bit surprising after he said the injury was a bad one and he could miss 2-3 weeks.

    De Gea
    Valencia Bailly Blind Shaw
    Schneiderlin
    Fellaini --- Pogba
    Mkhitaryan -------------- Martial
    Ibrahimovic
That would do nicely thanks. Bring Rashford on after an hour to run at them once the game's opened up a bit.
That would be amazing, and still have Smalling, Darmian, Herrera, Mata, Rooney, Lingard and Rashford in the sidelines. We sure came a long way as a top squad.

And people say we don't have enough pace. I do wonder if Jose has a plan B with his systems, Rashford is a dilemma, his style can be so effective off the bench he literally is a match changer in how the opposition have to change how they play. Think Both Mkh and Rashford just inject the acceleration into our game, not to mention our Arial threat

So excited about this game. Key for me will be getting our wide players into a position where they can put in some decent balls as we've got the height to be able to hurt them.

Defensively we'll need to be really compact and shackle Silva and De Bruyne. Hope we play Herrera and Pogba ahead of Fellaini - they'll allow us to harry their dangermen and break quickly.

    Can't wait.

I saw a league table on the tallest team in the PL, we came out 6th position, city came out rock bottom, so this is something we need to look into

Doesn't surprise me at all. Zlatan alone has bossed a couple of big centre backs this season. If we can get the delivery right he could give the likes of Otamendi and Stones a torrid time. Throw in Fellaini, Pogba and Bailly and we should be a real threat from set pieces.

Voted for 1-1 initially, thought about it logically for a second though and I think we'll smash the blue shite. 3-0 united with Pogba and Fellaini taking the piss in midfield.

Not too mention they have a new keeper thrown into between the sticks, so its a big chance to see how we can test them.

Is Mikitaryan well enough to play? Will Mourinho put Rashford on the bench ones again despite Martials bad performance?

Yeah, we should make it a baptism of fire. See how he likes a few high, hanging balls with a few people impeding him.

I know it'll never happen but I'd love to have Ibra in the No. 10 role and Rashford up top. I'd also have Lingard on the bench as back up for Mkhitaryan. I've also gone for 3-1 as well.

Problem is that Zlatan will never do any defensive work. So if you have him as a number 10 either you will be one man short in the defense (teams nowadays often defend with at least 9 players + goalkeeper) or Rashford will have to run past Zlatan and do the defensive work. We tested Zlatan as number 10 in the national team but changed precisely because of this and instead played 4-4-2.

Just saw that Mike Dean is fourth ref, somehow he will probably try and steal the show from Clattenburg. If all else fails he will probably streak across the pitch.

I like the idea of having as many Mancunians as possible in the team. So naturally Rashford and Lingard should start. Those two with Martial were excellent towards the end of last season and I don't think City could handle them.

No Memphis, Rojo, Darmian, Jones, TFM or Carrick. A lot thought he might use Carrick in some capacity.

That means Tony V is starting unless he is going to start Bailly at RB and Smalling at CB.
I'm going for an unchanged team except I think Lindgard may get the nod over Mata.

Big performance needed tomorrow. Think most neutrals have City down for the win.
