It's a shame, downright insane, you're going to miss the game because of one stupid train. If you had a brain (no offence) you'd probably catch a plane to see Rashford come on and win it for us again. :p

Damn, that puts my rhyme to shame

The wrestler/actor Dave Bautista has backed us to win 5-0. It's in the bag.

Nothing apart from stalking him around the shops for a few minutes :s

He didn't look that tall for a goalkeeper and I just checked now and hes only 6ft.
You should have kicked him in the shin and shouted "Manchester, Manchester, you like Manchester!" in a squeaky voice.

We beat you with Benjani and Vassell up front when you still had Ronaldo and Tevez. We'll wipe the floor with you. :smirk:

    YEAH!!!
    I like your confidence.
It'll be a great match buddy.
    May the best team win.

I can't help feel that this game (which IMO is the 1st of 2 of the biggest games of the seasons) has arrived far too early.
It kind of doesn't feel like a big match, even though it is.

Hopefully, in the next day or so, we can get more banter/rivalry going with MCFC supporters to make this feel like one of the biggest games of the season.
The media will also increase their hype in the next few hours, so this will also help.

feck the best team, let's beat the cnuts by any means nessecery

It makes no sense considering Jones has never played there at all. Why play a defender over an actual midfielder?

I think the LVG's "playing players out of position" tactic has infected the minds of some of our fans. ;)

Jones have played there before. You must have forgotten the period he played there under Sir Alex Ferguson where he did an excellent job protecting the back four. The reason to play him over an actual midfielder because at the moment, we do not have an agile holding midfielder(beside Schneiderlin) who is physical and can break things up in the midfield. I would prefer Schneiderlin as my first post indicated and Jones being the alternative. So, Jones is not my first choice, however I would consider him if Schneiderlin is unable to do what I expect of a player in that role against the technical players of Manchester City.

Sorry but Jones would not do a better job in the midfield over any of our midfielders.

The idea of playing a super injury prone player whose career has stalled the last 2 years, in a position he hasn't even had 1 game in for years, against the top team in the country (probably)....

    Just

We are not taking advantage of the height in our team I think. We simply don't have enough good crossers for all the quality we have in this team. It was Chelsea's biggest strength in Mou's first tint. You could pummel them all day but 1 good cross and you were undone. They had good crossers all over the pitch. We simply don't get the ball to Zlatan/Pogba enough. Zlatan should be making short work of Stones and Co with good aerial service. Valencia always gets into great positions but is hit and miss with crosses.

    Random question:

That thing Pep was doing with the fullbacks moving into midfield. Can any of you tactic nerds explain the logic behind it?

    Rashford
    Martial Zlatan
    Pogba Carrick Herrera
    Shaw Blind Bailly Valencia
    deGea
Rashford up top to stretch the pitch and run onto Pogba, Zlatan and Carrick's passes. Martial/Rashford to hit them on the counter.

3 man midfield to close the gaps and let them keep possession infront of us. This game should be Mourinho's bread and butter.

    It is not overly difficult.

Fullbacks move into midfield and take over the positions the two CMs would in traditional 4-3-3. That means that Silva and KDB push up further and get to do more damage and the CBs still get protection. Fernadinho is the CDM who drops in between the two CBs and so that means in attack the team essentially has a 3-2-2-3 type formation and it's essentially 5 in attack and 5 in defence. The idea is to try and overload the opposition defence by controlling the centre of the park whilst also maintaining width. Essentially you've 5 city attackers versus 5/6 of their defending players to try and overwhelm them.
Meanwhile the backline of City play a very high line. What you've now is the whole of the game being played in pretty much one half. What this does is suffocate the opposition team and force them to sit back and defend. If they obtain the ball there is a city player not too far away because it's all pretty much in one half. This high back line needs a sweeper keeper to work though.

What's the point in changing a winning team so much? No way that's going to be our lineup.

Are the likes of Kolarov and Zabaleta really the players to use in that position though? I mean it's not quite the same as Alaba and Lahm who would presumably be ideal for that role. If the fullbacks are going to be pushing into midfield then why not pick midfielders as fullbacks rather than fullbacks as midfielders, if you get what I mean?

Silva and De Bruyne would run circles around our midfield if we go with Pogba, Rooney and Fellaini. It'll almost be like 2012 when we were winning games for fun with Anderson and Cleverley only to get butt fecked by City in our first real challenge.

    I dunno mate I ain't Pep.

Shaw seems to be a light injury but we will know probably on Saturday.
For Mhiki yeah that's really strange, there is no update and all...
Fellaini is back and hopefully he can bully a bit City's mdfield.

Is the game still at 12:30 BST? Saw a strange tweet today talking about 12:00 BST.

who says Shaw is injured? Or are we still going off by him being sent home from England squad

Manchester United will assess full-back Antonio Valencia when he returns from international duty with Ecuador.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan is doubtful with an arm injury, but Luke Shaw is available despite withdrawing from England duty.

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero begins a three-game ban but Bacary Sagna should be in contention after recovering from a hamstring injury.

Leroy Sane and Ilkay Gundogan are now fit and may make their debuts, as could goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.

Captain Vincent Kompany is back in full training following a thigh problem, but the club are unlikely to rush the injury-plagued defender back to action.

    BBC say Shaw is fine

He keeps his wingers wide and pushes the central midfielders up so when the full backs come inside they fill the space between defence and attack. The positions of our attacking players stretches the defencsive positions of our opponents leaving holes and space to exploit. That's the basics anyway.

This guys have a tv program at TV3 (Catalan public boradcasting) and now made this vid to remember the old Spanish drama between Pep and Mou

With the style that Guardiola likes to play, it seems the way to combat it is with wingers with pace. Martial and Rashford to start on the wings?

Zlatan looks like Kevin in the American version of Shameless.

All the build up is making me nervous as feck now.

    I feel this way.

Mums a City fan and dad united so derby day always has been a recipe for disaster. When owen scored in the 97th minute her meltdown was hilarious.

Think, like a few others, the game is too early. I don't think it matters if City lose. Still got 34 games to make 3 points up and they have us to play at home. Its far more important we win than them.

"How to win the Champions League without Messi" had me chuckling.

Pogba and Fellaini would physically batter them off the pitch. Nothing like Anderson/Cleverley at all.
