I hate to get involved with the pessimism but my prediction for the match:

Liverpool to score first within the first half hour and kill the game and be very happy to sit deep and break in numbers.

We'll be playing 3-5-2 with Rojo as a wing back and Carrick at centreback. At some point we will sub on a fullback, CBJ or TFM so we can push Carrick into midfield and play 4 at the back with Rojo going central. Everyone will moan about making a fullback substitute when we need to attack.

Schweinsteiger will come on next, for Schneiderlin who will be fairly absent all night leaving Carrick and Schweinsteiger pushing up the field and passing sideways probing for a non existent gap as our forwards amble around a final third that looks like Picadilly Circus at rush hour.

Final substitution is Lingard for the disappointing Memphis. Lingard looks bright but does absolutely feck all.

I don't even feel like I need to watch the game now.

You never know for sure and as fans we always have to retain a bit of optimism whatever the situation. However if Liverpool score first its probably all over at that point. In fact if they score at all its probably over. On the other hand if we score fairly quickly then it might give them a bit of the jitters. A 1-0 score at ht and its all to play for!

In reality I don't think its likely that Liverpool will slip up to the extent of a 3-0 defeat and I don't fancy our chances with penalties if its 2-0 aet - I never do!

0:0, same old shit, the slowest football death of the season continues.

They will pass the ball to each other like a drooling retards and then De Gea will have to make hollywood saves because there is no cohesive defense not to mention simple chemistry between formations.

Prove everyone wrong and salvage something from this but then again it would require from players a show of character and from some of them you couldn't even ask to accurately pass the ball to someone who's actually in closer distance to Mingolet than De Gea.

    De Gea
    Smalling - Carrick - Rojo
    Lingard - Schneiderlin - Fellani - CBJ
    Mata
    Rashford - Martial

    :nervous:

I've gone for this as my final prediction - hope I'm wrong, but I can't see Borthwick-Jackson walking back into the starting XI having been out since the Shrewsbury game (22/02), due to Van Gaal's 'Match Rhythm' policy.

    De Gea
    Smalling - Carrick - Rojo
    Lingard - Schneiderlin - Fellani - Darmian
    Mata
    Rashford - Martial

Well, if we get a draw, that will be in line with OT being a fortress, ie. you cant beat MUFC at OT.
And looking at the stats, this may sound weird, but MUFC's home form in the league, is excellent - we have the 2nd best home record. It's our away form which is dismal.
A win or draw is definitely the most likely result. The problem is this 2 goal deficit and the need to probably score 4 goals. Our first team cannot score that many goals.

Go all out for the early goal. If we're going out let's go out like men, not mice.

Carrick and Schneiderlin have both been dropped by their respective national teams so perhaps we'll see some improved performances from them as they seek to get back in before the Euro..

When he was at Southampton, Schneiderlin was a super midfielder. Just the type of player United needed to put some bite into our midfield. Enter philosophy man and it all goes tits-up.

In fact he was what Kanté is today.
He must be seriously hacked off, LvG has turned him into a Championship player with his chopping and changing and firkwit philosophy. Wouldn't be surprised if he asks for a transfer if Van Gaal should by some miracle stay in charge.

I remember putting up one of those sqwaka comparison tables last year when I wanted us to sign Schneiderlin. It said he was statistically the best defensive midfielder in Europe for that season.

Now stats dont tell the whole story but his performances against us, City and Chelsea among others backed it up. There was one spell of a couple of weeks where he totally dominated Yaya and then Fabregas with ease.

Then Van Gaal gets his hands on him and all that form falls apart, just as it did with Di Maria, Herrera, Darmian and Memphis. I still think people are far to quick to slate the players when there are clearly bigger issues at play.

It's just crazy to hear fans talk rubbish about this players. These guys were putting in impressive performances with brimming confidence on a weekly basis. I for one wanted all of this players before we were publicly linked with them.

I've rarely felt resigned before a match but this is just awful. I don't even want to watch it.

I feel you, I'm not looking for that game. Hopefully it will come just before the game.

We have to start Morgan to stand a chance, and ffs lock Fellaini into a capsule and shoot him into space, miles away from the ground.

Guess what ,players can loose form independent of the management and when players move club especially to bigger clubs they can also struggle as has been found under other great managers.Cuadrado was appalling at Chelsea but watching him yesterday you had thought what a perfect mourinho winger he will be without prior knowledge of where he has been.
Some struggle with the pace and physicality of the league ,find it very had especially if their technical ability was not top notch to aid adaptation i. e Darmian and Depay.Watching some youtube videos of Depay's time at PSV again yesterday reminded me how technically deficient he was but our fans refused to see it back then, overrated his ability and expected too much to soon.
In all my time of watching united Darmian is the most technically deficient outfield player I have seen within short memory.Mikeal Silvestre and Oshea are superior technically.
The coach has been dissapointing and needs to go but to expect another manager to improve this team to compete for trophies is delusional.

I'm on boycott. The only full game I've watched since the Midgetland loss, was the Watford win. Which was enough to make me remember why I went on boycott in the first place. It's easy for me to justify because I'm usually at work when most of the games take place (different time zone).

It won't stop me from expressing an opinion later mind you.

Maybe we'll get a surprise and we will attack fiercely like Bayern.

I have stated that they should be tearing up the league but that they should not be written off just yet, especially in the context of the season and they have come from a foreign league.

Amazing  Thank you for adding a good deal of levity to what is an otherwise depressing pre-match atmosphere.

I honestly dont know why still Fellaini is the one people pick out as the worst possible player to start in this match. He's been one of the best player in the games vs Liverpool in more or less every game under van Gaal, and the alternatives available to us has hardly done much to dispatch him from the side. I would honestly feel better to see Fellaini start today instead of Carrick.

United to score first - Redcafe to get excited.
Liverpool to score soon after - Redcafe to go into meltdown.
90 minutes up, 1-2 (1-4 on aggregate) - "LVG HAS TO GO NOW!"

    Bold prediction.

I don't think your defence is good enough to stop our inform forwards from scoring, and one goal means you'll really have to throw the kitchen sink at us. By doing so, I wouldn't be surprised if you managed to get past defensive goliaths Moreno & Lovren, but I'd just as likely expect a goal up your end.

    We're not losing tonight.

I wouldn't have played Blind even if he were fit, he's look exhausted and his performances at the back have been pretty diabolical recently.

Herrera is a blow, he usually plays well against them. Now I'm dreading Fellaini and Carrick again in the middle which means we might as well forfeit to save our energy for the city game.
