Absolute rubbish. My heart rate has barely gone above "light snooze"

It's a fecking disgrace. I am still in the Van Gaal camp, but if THIS is his grand design he can feck right off. Keeping possession is fine and all, but if the players are forbidden from taking any risks it not only becomes counter productive. It becomes downright destructive

That's honestly the most boring United vs Pool half i've ever seen

There's a load of muppets on my stream advertising comfortable beds at Travelodge; how fitting.

Putting Martial on would be insane! Heaping pressure on him.

I would put him on with 10 mins to go if we're winning 2/3 nil. People talk about easing a 19 year old in and then suggest we put him on at half time in a 0-0 Liverpool game? He'd be nervous as feck.

Other than subbing the manager I can't see what change will make us better in the second half. Our players are getting to the edge of the box and passing when they have space to shoot. Gary Neville's comment about us having no boldness or risk is totally right, and anyone who comes on second half will be expected by the manager to play exactly the same way. Its the philosophy after all.

Surely its harder for 22 premier league quality footballers to have 45 mins without a shot on target than it is otherwise?

so much for my 3-1 prediction when there has not even been one attempt on goal by either side!

It all comes down to strictness of gameplan. Afraid to make mistakes, lose possession etc. LVG needs to realise that his strict philosophy needs to be more like a casual gameplan.

Yeah this is just painful and LVG has had 3 windows to sort out his team and how much money spent. I actually feel bad for Fellaini. he is trying.

If we're winning 2/3-nil with 10 minutes to go, the only thing we'd need to worry about is the betting scandal.

Think we've bossed the game without having any attacking threat. I've enjoyed the game but it's of course frustrating to not see a cutting edge.

I think Memphis would definitely benefit from either moving up front or to the right. Think Clyne's been Liverpool's best player and he's dealt very well with Memphis.

Fellaini can work as a foil, but he needs a lot of space and time to set himself up. The Rooney chance against Spurs (OG) seems to be how Fellaini is in the box most times. No composure.

Well when you don't have a replacement for your number 1 striker, you can't expect much.
Technically we do, but he's new and on the bench. Our wide players worry me more. Mata who is light as a feather and provides no threat on his own side and only cuts in to keep the ball, and Memphis who is a kid.

I made that mistake as well. There's still time.

This is the best (least hostile, least intense) Liverpool match to ever introduce him to tbh.

    ha!

    Holding midfielder as a striker

Slow as feck up front with no danger of a shot at goal

£36000000 Fastest striker on the bench

Makes perfect philosophical sense to me

Martial is a better dribbler than any of the attackers out there.
    Bring on Martial and Young.
Put Martial on the left Young on the right
    Mata in the middle
Carrick can control the midfield on his own against this Liverpool side.
The side which is braver will win this game.
    I miss SAF

It's not just the players, it's the system.

We've been excellent defensively and also in the midfield, Carrick and Schweinsteiger have controlled the game and looked for something from those in the final third, the attacking four just have no chemistry, they aren't working together.

We need something else, whether it's Young to provide more pace and width down the right or Martial to play striker, they need to compliment each other and if their play flows then we will look like a really good side.

Louis van Gaal will change it, not sure when, but he'll go for the win.

Edit - Done. Young's predictable crossing game will be fun to watch since it's going into Fellaini vs the clowns at the back.

We've spent so much money and we're using a holding/elbowing midfielder as our lone striker and relying on a 21 year old fresh out of the Dutch league to be our main outlet. Incredible really.

Can't put any blame on him, you know because he's not actually a striker.

Second half now, I just have a feeling Liverpool will nick this.

Even the ancient joke about being pulled off at halftime would liven this up

    Substitution for Manchester United

    Half-time change.
Am I right in saying this hasn't had a card in it yet? What sort of derby is this :( I wonder when the last time was there wasn't even a card in this fixture.

    Yep.

I've generally defended Van Gaal but I posted I was worried about him pre season and nothing so far this season has reassured me that we were going to be okay under him.

Bar what? 4 or 5 games in his tenure we've been fecking shite. Boring and shite. it's very worrying.

    Memphis off. Good decision.

Wonder what means for Martial coming on. Hopefully as a number 9.

Young on for Depay. Not too surprising really.

By the way, what were we trying to do with our corners? We have Fellaini in the game, so the only place we should be putting the ball is in the box, not 80 yards upfield.
