    Perhaps this true. I'd say Rashford wasn't hungry in defence. His opponent blew right past him and that created the danger.

    First goal was lazy backtracking from Bruno and Rashford, they should have closed Quansa down before he got into the box. Very poor from Rashford in particular.

    It has been a feature of us for too long now, and it's a black mark against EtH that he hasn't managed to fix this?

    I can see Liverpool pick us off in the second half as we chase this with how we are set up.

    50 yard sprint forward, 50 yard sprint back, repeat constantly, and then we expect quality on the odd occasion it slows down.

    Will probably have a push for 15 mins after the break then changes will have to made to keep the energy high.
     
    Gutted. We’ve generally played so well and those two late goals were a bit of a sucker-punch. Damn unlucky for Kobbie to deflect the first one out of Onana’s reach too. We’re still in this at least. Next goal is all important.

    I agree, but the pattern is often pinned on individual errors. However, I do not absolve him from keeping these pricks around. He definitely has some responsibility in that - and thus he is getting rightfully burned.
     
    FFS that was never a foul on Bruno. Gomez took the ball. Can we stop complaining about nothing and focus on what we need to do to win this game.

    He was ‘bundled over’ because he showed no strength and was looking for any slight contact.

    It’s a contact sport, he won the ball. It wasn’t a foul.
     
    That referee will give fouls for the same/less in the rest of the games he manages this year.

    Overall I have no issue with it not being a foul, I do however have an issue with the fact lesser contact will be given as fouls with no recourse.

    Referees have a habit of waiting until they’ve got the big United game on telly to pull shite like this & thats what annoys me.

    If he gives a foul there literally no one says anything, it’s 1-1 & the game goes on.

    There was nothing he could do on the first goal because of the lucky deflection and the on the 2nd he makes a great save then Salah gets the rebound and Varane who is stood on the line should block it but doesnt.

    I’ve said it time and time again, the midfielders all think they are attacking mids, no one sits back and covers. It’s just ridiculous.
     
    Think of great players in the position Bruno was in before he was "fouled". They'd find a way to either shield the ball, pass it safe, dribble past the closing player or whatever. They simply don't give the ball away so meekly but yet Bruno's decision in that situation was to play for the foul. Weak, cowardly and definitely not captain material, and the resulting goal 100% deserved.

    Not really. Even before they scored it was obvious that a goal was coming and our tactics were unsustainable.

    Hopefully we turn it around in the second half but losing at home to Liverpool in the cup is not something I consider enjoyable.
     
    Not an expert but the midfield is still too open. I don't think it's realistic the way ETH is trying to get us to play. You need physical monsters to cover the ground, it's not feasible
     
    It’s a foul on Fernandes all day fecking long. The ref gave the exact same one moments earlier with the two same players involved!!!! And it was softer. It’s a foul in today’s game and we will see more of them in the next half.

    Come on United. We’ve played well and can do this!
     
    We've been the better team though. Against Liverpool. Fecking infuriating that we gifted them two goals before the break of course, but this was a much better first half than expected.

    Exactly. Amateurish defending.
    In fact it can not be classed as defending. Handed Liverpool 2 goals in 2 minutes after a very positive start.
     
    Liverpool are so overrated. A good long ball team who benefit from a lot of luck.
