The most infuriating with that 2nd goal is that all our players bar Onana stopped playing as soon as Bruno fell to the ground expecting a freekick. Have they heard of the phrase - play to the whistle?

Worst thing is it wasn’t even a freekick as Bruno goes down as soft as shit. We were the architect of our downfall.

We need to move to a midfield three and try and find two midfielders capable of handling a press. Bruno is always a liability in this regard.

Get Forson on and we'll win 4-2.

It looked like even Gomez knew that was a foul, he stopped and then carried on after there was no whistle. Still poor from Bruno and AWB to not play to the whistle.

First 25 mins were probably the best we've played for ages.

AWB should have cleared it really rather than running around the corner flag.

Not going to blame the manager, but pissing about at the back as one of the worst team in the league against a press against the best pressing team in the league is amateur hour and they scored twice from it, one being offside by a shoulder.
Yeah I agree, although it was working for the first 30 minutes.

Onana is a muppet. That ball to Wan Bissaka caused the second goal. Immediately put him under pressure. It’s like he can’t sense danger.

it started with Varane. He takes too long standing on the ball then passes to Lindeloff who does the same then goes back to the keeper who also doesnt clear.

We sucked ourselves in to the press unnecessarily.

Not sure how he ever played Defensive midfield. Mctominay is good in getting into attacking spaces as a midfielder but his defensive awareness and marking is really poor

You guys are crazy criticising our captain here - Gomez is a big guy and his knee clips Bruno as he stretches for the ball - you can't tell me that wouldn't put you off balance and it's a clear foul. Just not a 'clear and obvious' from a VAR correction perspective. It's unlucky - you get those given 9 times out of 10 and so you should ... there's a difference between legitimate contact sport pressure and going through the man and this is a perfect example - jammy scouse feckers!

Good first 20 minutes = Ten Hag masterclass
Bad last 10 minutes = No Ten Hag slander allowed

    ?

Not in the slightest, don’t be obtuse Wave. There wasn’t anything from this game for posters to slander him today. Our start was some of the best we played. The end of the featured unforgivable errors from our top players.

First goal was no one's fault. Lucky deflection.

Don't know why the players got so sloppy in the last few minutes and conceded the second goal. Thought we were doing quite well to contain the scousers and reducing them to half chances before that. Could Onana have done better? He parried it straigt to Salah.

Chanting 'You Scouse bastards' to build the tension between VAR checks is hilarious.

There's just so little pressure on the ball from us unless it's in our attacking third. It's ridiculously easy for any opposition player to just dribble around any sort of defensive structure.

    The Caf is mental.

They simultaneously blame ETH for having no « patterns of play » and blame him for not budging from his tactics.

We had a great first half, with Liverpool having nothing to show for but 4 minutes of chaos in which they scored a deflected goal and another on the counter after a save from the keeper.

We were hardly suffocating and beaten by a team playing wayyyy better football than us
The chaos is an inherent part of our tactics. You can't just hand-wave it away and absolve the manager of any responsibility for it.

Yeah but is so annoying the ref gave a foul for less when Gomez fouled Bruno in exactly the same way earlier in the game.
Oh I agree, but it's not worth going down and praying that VAR give a really soft foul your way.

Just kick it out for a throw in if he feels under pressure, rather than leaving it up to chance

Erik needs to change things round at halftime to find a way to bring Hojlund in to the game as he has been non-existant in the first half, that said he might have been clean through at one point had McTominay have played it in front of him instead of behind him.

100% a foul leading up to the goal. Only teams like City and Liverpool get away with that.
I thought it was a foul too, easy for people to moan at Bruno as he’s disliked but if that was mainoo with someone going through the backnof him people would be calling a foul I feel

Seriously? Have you even played the game ? Look at how close the attacker is and how powerful the shot is. All you can do at that moment is make your body as large as possible and hope the ball hits somewhere.

    Seriously, some of our fans!!
It's every shot mate. I'll one day make an hour long video of his horrific handling.

Szoboszlai had a volley on the edge of the box and he almost spilled it. His touch and feel of the ball in his hands when facing shots is really, really poor.

We were hardly sitting deep? That's one of the more attacking halves we've had this season. We drop deep into the box, as is our wont, when they have ball control in our 1/3, but there's a difference between that and sitting deep.
We are giving every team to dominate on the ball. 40:60 possession is first half.

It looked like even Gomez knew that was a foul, he stopped and then carried on after there was no whistle. Still poor from Bruno and AWB to not play to the whistle.

First 25 mins were probably the best we've played for ages.

I just watched the replay again and in full speed he just flattens Bruno.

The thing is they are absolutely shite as well, they are just so lucky, every break falls to them. We haven’t dominated a team like for 40+ minutes all season. Absolutely no reason we can’t get back into this in the second half.

The complete mental capitulation after that offside goal was ruled out is completely unacceptable.

couldn’t put 3-4 passes together after that!

We have been the best team in the first half and maybe even played our best 43 minutes in the season. It should have been 2-0 for us - I just cant believe this. So frustrating.

Not in the slightest, don’t be obtuse Wave. There wasn’t anything from this game for posters to slander him today. Our start was some of the best we played. The end of the featured unforgivable errors from our top players.

But there's a pattern. Plenty of games we start so well but collapse

We actually played well and created few good chances. As usual though, once Liverpool put some pressure on us, we collapsed, then they scored and everything went to shit. Typical Man United.

I’m not aggrieved about the foul on Bruno, I’m more angry about how many times they are allowed to stop our attacks without a yellow card. They’ve done it at least 4 times and only McAllister has received a card so far.
