McT back in. Can he continue his streak of getting a yellow card because he can't control the football and make it 3 in 3? Watch this space.
Guaranteed he’s getting a yellow card tonight. He always tries to be the hard man to try and disguise his limitations.

Don't like that line-up. Our problem is that it doesn't matter if we put McT, Fred, Rashford, Elanga, Ronaldo etc. on the bench as it's always a shit replacement waiting in the wings.

Interesting. Martial must not be fully fit yet if he's not starting. Ronaldo dropped for Elanga is funny but I like it.

EtH will try to get Eriksen, Bruno and casemiro as a trio working for sure. I think we'll need Fred in there but we'll see I guess. McTominay.... Don't let us down. Playing for his future.

Glad Maguire is dropped. No faith in De Gea, McTominay, Dalot, Elanga here though. Even Bruno and Sancho I'm not confident that they won't go hiding.
It's probably more about Rashford being better than Martial at running in behind the Liverpool defence.

Feck, we are going to lose 4-0, aren’t we?
And why are rashford, mctominay and de gea starting?

I don't even see the point in commenting at the line-up at this point because I thought some of our previous teams were decent but then we got smashed. I'm happy to see some statement changes tonight, if only to light a fire under some people. Whether or not it works for tonight, that remains to be seen.

Sure the game may not even go ahead so this may all be for nothing.

Seems a strange lineup to me, not sure I quite understand the thinking....

You lose a game to a bottom-half side 0-4, largely because you're GK makes two unforced errors and the team is out-worked and over-run.

So who do you change? The CB you DIDN'T sub (who is also you captain), your top goalscorer (who doesnt run...but neither do Sancho or Rashford) and you leave out your hardest working CM (who admittedly is diabolical.

We still have DDG in goal and Dalot at RB. You're giving Malacia his PL debut vs Liverpool.

I just fail to see how these changes help us overcome the issues we have had in the first two games. No player can complain about being dropped but I feel the timing is slightly odd.

I guess a theory for Elanga on the right is he's probably the best equipped to deal with Robertson's energy defensively.

I may have said this and he's on the left but I think it makes sense to have Elanga on the right for his pace and energy.

I reckon it'll be long balls over the top all day. Klopp said the more direct they are the more they will cause us problems.
From their full backs or defence. That's the reason why we have a hardworking attacking line up. They will press and won't give time to float long balls from their defence.

I’m a fan of Scott but not as a #6. His defensive position and awareness are literally his worst qualities. The holding midfield position remains a concern, and none of those we are playing today I would trust to do a job there.
I imagine Varane has been tasked with keeping him settled down out there. Liverpool will undoubtedly open with pressure on the midfield so they will need to weather that to start the game. It's a worry though for sure but not like there are a lot of choices here.

I just hope these guys put up a fight we can be proud of here. Take it to these feckers and make them earn it.

But worried about our right side defensively.....and offensively.

So we should have gone with the same team which lost 0-4. I don't see the logic.

    Sancho will be on left.
Did Ten Hag say that? The daft lineup picture never tells proper positions. I'd rather have Elanga there to combat Salah as Sancho sometimes fails to track back. They'll probably be interchanging as needed anyway.

Fair play to ETH for the selection. He's pretty much dropped what he can. It's no shock that the players who are starting again from last week, we are reportedly looking for people in their positions.

The only other change would have been Donny for Bruno, which I wouldn't have been mad at, to properly send a message, but I just don't think this game is suited to the former at all.

sick of this now yes we are shit but FFS get behind the team.
DDG who would you want Heaton !!!
There’s no point arguing mate. They’re never fecking happy in here.

One terrible game and de gea should be dropped for a pensioner.

If that’s their reasoning, the whole squad should’ve been dropped and we forfeit the match but they’d still find something to whinge about.

I don't know what to say about the line up.... he should have dropped DeGea, the biggest culprit of the last game and he still starts. Heaton must really be shit in training if he can't get ahead of DDG (sigh).

Even if we lose to Liverpool this is a victory

A huge step to progress and first time EtH showing to me that he will try to stick to his philosophy and style of play regardless of player.

    I have hope now
Yes. 3 games in and he's changing things which haven't been changed for over a year.
