Hamstrings aren’t anything the docs can assess. It’s a feel injury that the player has to decide when it’s okay. Nothing you can do if he says he’s good to go. Doesn’t show up on any sort of test.
It’s not just black and white as yes or no he’s fit. There is a middle ground. The reality is a muscle injury is not like a broken bone. It’s something that accumulated over time and just isn’t as binary as being fit or unfit. I am certain he was cleared as fit - else he wouldn’t have been on the bench - but I’m also certain that there was a caveat that it’s a risk. If we had no other injuries by all means take the gamble. But we had Rashford hobbling, Herrera already gone.
