I find whichever team is in worse form does better in this derby. I'd be more confident if they'd been having an easy ride of it recently, because clearly we have the quality to give them a proper game and that's when the team who've been coasting tend to come unstuck. I just hope that's not going to be us instead.
I don't think you can say we've been coasting it...confidence is high and we are playing well but some of those wins were dug out

That was to be expected though, 7/8 weeks out and only 4 full training sessions since his injury! He'll still be off the pace on Sunday and I think he'll only use him if either team has the game dead and buried, just to get minutes on the clock.

He is arguably their best player so I would think Klopp will use him to his maximum capacity on Sunday. If he isn't 100% fit then that's a massive bonus for our prospects for 3 points.

If their midfield consists of Can and Lucas I expect Pogba to absolutely wreck them

I'd expect Fat Anderson to completely wreck them. Hendo better be fecking ready or we really are fecked. Take a draw now please.

They were praising him on Sky and to be fair he was better than the other shite they had out on the pitch but he still looked very rusty to me. His shooting especially was all over the place.

I think Sturridge was so bad tonight Klopp will have to gamble and start with Coutinho.

Yep, Sturridge given yet another 90 minutes to press his claim for the starting striker position now that Mane is out and what does he do? Hands the opportunity back on a silver platter to Origi. If fit I expect:

Mignolet (or De Kar after that performance)
    Clyne Matip Lovren Milner
    Hendo Weeji
    Lallana Firmino Coutinho
    Origi

This game just comes at the completely wrong time for us.

We're having a bad moment, you're on the up. Just wrong timing.

    3-1 United.

And that's not at over reaction to tonight's result, that's based on the fact that our form is on completely different ends of the spectrum at the moment.

There's nothing wrong with being out form, in fact I think every team this season has had it APART from us, so we're due it.
It's about how quickly we can fix it.

Since when are we happy with a draw at home? Not even during Moyes or LvG eras. Get a grip.

We'll batter them if they play like that on Sunday. Either way I've a good feeling, as we're a superior team in almost every aspect.

Currently yes, but when both teams are on form there's no debate.

Sadly the last time anyone has witnessed that from is before the Southampton 0-0

I don't think any United fan would be happy with a draw. Aren't you favourites?

Quite often games get talked up, especially by sky. But this one really is season defining, particularly for united. Win and we reinforce the winning streak and really push ourselves into the frame again.

Just read through the thread. A lot of people saying 'I'd take a draw', ffs. Pathetic

Keep seeing Utd fans talking as if Liverpool always play really well at Old Trafford and raise their game. It's just not true. They could do on Sunday of course but I don't think they will.

    We absolutely should be favourites.

Can't wait for this...but expect a dull affair.

Klopp appears happy to hold his side back in some of these bigger games and Mou will approach with usual caution.

I'm never confident on these games. I'm still scarred from the 1-4 at OT, where they came in looking like shit and we were on top form. We even started the better, but fell to shit as soon as Vidic got sent off for his last man foul on Torres.

I'd be delighted with the win, but even a draw would be fine for me right now. Above all else, we must not lose.

What's the fecking difference between holding back and caution?
I expect Klopp and Liverpool to attack us at OT after the nonsense that was said after the Anfield game.

Yeah, these games are so shit in terms of predicting based on form, especially when you have friends who are fans of the opponent.
Ill be there at OT, and its always the worst when you lose a big game after going to the stadium.

Why are Liverpool going to be the ones to raise their game and not us?

We've been playing well recently but hardly our peak of what we have the ability to do. What's to suggest we won't be at optimum regardless of Liverpool?

Some fans appear to still be left in the LVG era of negativity and don't realise just how good we are, compared to LFC.

Here's what MUFC have going for them:
The game is at OT, which will definitely favour us - our home record is excellent.
The most expensive midfielder in the World who is an absolute powerhouse.
Maybe the best midfield in the league, CFC excepted.
Arguably the best manager in the World in charge.
Ibra who will probably finish top goal scorer in the league, this season.
The best GK in the league and perhaps the World...who (for some reason) has his best games against LFC.
Our form: we won our last 9 games. Unbeaten for several months.

Let's take a look at LFC.
    Their last 3 games: DDL
Their best player - Coutinho - returning from injury, but certainly not in form (due to injury).
Several players in their first team are struggling to make the game due to injury.

    Am I missing something?
Come on LFC supporters, give me a counter argument...I'm waiting :D

    For Liverpool. I agree.

Yes. But it will be difficult for us too - they far from an easy side to beat.

We are playing better than Liverpool.

Big feck. They're still playing good football.

No, Liverpool need to try and nullify us. We the big team and Liverpool will need to try and prevent us from scoring and their best chance is to hit us on the break and score a lucky goal from 1 shot on target...a la Arsenal.
If Liverpool attempt to "play" and dominate us, they'll get steam rolled like the last 9 team we have played.

You need to put your red tinted glasses aside.

    Its got to be

    DDG
    valencia smalling jones blind
    carrick
    herrera pogba
    mkhi zlaten martial

That is one devastating starting 11, everything about the spine is a powerful united lineup. A great GK, very good CB pairing that jones seems to have found his spark when fergie signed him, carrick anchoring that midfield, with herrera and pogba controlling the centre, defiantly that front 3 has speed and power, if we click we can really put liverpool to the sword, if our wide forwards work up and down look up for it, and our midfield uses the energy they been so good at we can easily play some very good football. Its the first time in a long while we have a starting 11 that looks pretty damn scary, what I call a united lineup. We have beaten liverpool with much weaker teams, this one looks like a proper united starting lineup

2-1 United. Think we will waste a lot of chances. Expect Liverpool to play better than currently. Lallana and Wijnaldum will up their game for this

Ok I'll give it a go for a laugh.

    Liverpool positives:

    - We're still the top scorers in the league.
    - We're five points from top despite injuries and an apparent dip in form.
    - Klopp has a great record against the other top six sides, losing just once since arriving in England.
    - We are going into this five points ahead of United.
    - We've conceded three goals in our last five league games, keeping three clean sheets in the process (with our best CB out injured).
    - Chances are that the only serious absentee from this game will be Mane.
    - Fellaini.

I'll be honest, I'm not convinced myself but I gave it a go.

Why are people expecting us to win this easily based on Liverpool's last 3 games?

Form means nothing going into this game, everyone knows that, just as everyone knows that it's going to be a tough game, that could go any way...

This over confidence worries me somewhat...

I thought Klopp would go for something like this...

    Wijnaldum--Henderson--Can

    Lallana--???--Firmino

Coutinho looked very good IMO. Yes, his shooting was off but he looked threatening every time he got the ball. He'll be their main threat on Sunday no doubt.

Our form was also on a different end the last time we met and I don't think the result was 3-1 to Liverpool.

When is the last time it hasn't gone by form?
Generally the better side going into these games seems to win

Yeah, I don't understand all this "form means nothing" talk. It means quite a lot. I think people are just scared to be confident.

I think he may well start with Coutinho & drop Lallana back into midfield and play Origi up front. He won't play Can in midfield again unless he's gone blind. He's shit. This all depends on Hendersons heel though.

For us, I fecking hope Rojo is fit. Rojo > Smalling

    1. The 'dip in form' has only encompassed 1 premier league game (2-2 v Sunderland) so not really buying that one.

    2. True. But the 4 games prior to that you conceded 6. Swings and roundabouts.

The rest of the points are valid in my eyes. Will be a close game, real nail biter!

Countinho is the big worry. Even today his shooting was off, but his vision is always there. He's the one who's going to bring others into play. We must contain him.

Yeah I'll be honest it was lazy on my part. I think you'll take it 2-1 personally.

Yes there is. Who do you think you are on form, Barca?

The only thing I'm worried about is the post. if it stops denying us goals we will be too much for them. we will be fired up and come out the blocks at 100 mph.
