Any pundit who disagrees with Rooney being dropped should honestly be sacked on the spot. Football is a game of opinions but there's just no debate to be had on this.

I'm looking at you, David May.

Perfectly played Jose in that interview, that presenter was such a knob firing 3 questions all about Rooney. Thankfully, Mou handled it well. Also mentioned that Rooney will play next match on Thursday

Neville loves the word embarassing. He'd fit right in here.

Herrera and Pogba any more balanced the Pogba and Fellaini? for me nope!
A bit more dynamic for me. They can switch, one can go forward while other drops back. Will make it more difficult for Leicester.

    I haven't really followed but isn't Neville doing a 180 here?

    Is shaw injured?

Happy that Rooney is dropped but I'd have preferred to see Mata on the right with Fellaini/Carrick instead of Lingard in a 4-3-3. That team lacks balance.

I think he has a groin strain, but Vardy often comes down that side and Shaw has been lazy on marking recently. Blind isn't quick but with Bailly to cover him he should be able to keep a more watchful eye on Vardy. Shaw responded well to a kick up the arse last time.

I'm glad Herrera and Pogba are playing but im not sure about Mata in there too, although all three are very good on the ball and Leicester have lost a lot in the middle with Kante leaving.

Rooney should never play for the first team again unless something miraculously changes.

Souness wants us to play Mata-Zlatan-Lingard behind Rasford.

That is recipe for disaster. I would never have two severely limited players like Mata and Lingard provide us width. It all looks good on paper, because Rashford gets to play where he should and Zlatan gets to dictate. But it totally deprives our wide attack of any pace what so ever. Until we don't buy good wide players and/or Mkhi/Depay start performing I am afraid we will have to stick Martial and Rashford out wide. They are the only players with some flair and pace.

Agree with Souness and Neville on players being too precious and getting away with everything.

Drop Rooney and yet playing 4-2-3-1...
Its almost pointless dropping Rooney him if you are still going shackle Pogba anyway

May and Macari about Rooney being benched

cognitive dissonance is incredible from these folks.

So they admit he's no longer at his peak and the level he set has now declined, yet then go on to claim he should have played "to get through this patch" and don't think he should be dropped.

A name on a shirt isn't going to get us top 4. Furthermore, the bigger take away from this video is that if we lose, we are going to be in for a week of his friends and cronies using the media to pressure his return.

A bit more dynamic for me. They can switch, one can go forward while other drops back. Will make it more difficult for Leicester.
More dynamic, but id say Herrera is even less of a defensive midfielder the Fellaini. Its still two midfielders who are by nature more attack minded been shoved together and hoping one of them will stay disciplined.

When did Rooney bag goals for fun for a couple of months last season?

Hoping its a 3-5-2 but I think its just a 4-2-3-1 with Blind at left back and Mata in at #10.

Start of 2016 he scored some goals over a 1-2 month period. Decent one against Newcastle I remember.

Jokes were made about him going for the 2016 Ballon d'Or etc.

I dunno why people keep thinking this team is unbalanced. Leicester play with a midfield duo as well. Herrera can play the holding role. It's going to be a great game to watch.

Kinda confused over the line up. Herrera and Pogba in a midfield pairing? Also we have Lingard out wide. We need more quality there

Herrera and Pogba any more balanced the Pogba and Fellaini? for me nope!

You will get destroyed for saying that about fan favorite Herrera. Of course it is not balanced. It is easy as anything to go past both of them and I would question their positioning. They will work quite well if we play of front foot though. Both of them are capable of scoring and keeping the tempo going. But I fear, United team is yet to figure out how to get into first gear and that could mean these two need to be disciplined.

The Fosu-Mensah selection on the bench is curious, after his last performance. Seems Darmian is completely out of the picture.

Yeah agreed, it's very risky. I'd like to see it for a few games.

Not listening to them but from reading, is Neville already planting the seed that if we lose Rooney wasn't the problem etc etc? We already know he's not the only problem - just one of our big problems.

It's not helping the team if you don't give them a run out without Wayne so we can build on that. It's so wrong to put this extra pressure on. Whether we win or lose, Rooney is rightfully dropped and shouldn't get back into the team unless he proves himself like all the other players have to. We can't continue to let him be the focal point of everything.

Now our boys really need to step up today. Don't the fans, club, manager and fellow team mates down - put in a performance that they know they are capable of. Just win.

Having said all that I'm bloody :nervous:

Happy to see Rooney dropped, but I don't see the point of Lingard really. He might score a great goal though, who knows.
