Really excited for this. This is our biggest European game since the Bayern tie under Moyes with a historic club, not counting current day Ajax who are a shadow of their former selves.

Better not feck it up. I hope the players are really stoked for this, finally a game that is befitting of the CL.

I think with Manduzkic out Juve will start 3-5-2 and keep their roster of wingers to change the game if they need to. Our only change from Saturday will be Herrera in for Rashford IMO, I think it'll be a very tight game.

The players should be up for it, just as we are excited.

Feels like ages since we had a star-studded European team turn up at OT. Hope we play well.

Absolutely! These are the nights you want as a United fan

Behave !!! I am no Ronaldo fan , but he is one of United greats and he will deserve his standing ovation , the only thing that is embarrassing is your post, what is happening in his personal life is his problem , not ours.

I suppose you would clap him if he scored against us?

Sorry, but an opposition player (who did well while he was with us), should not be encouraged to beat us.
Right now, our team is in trouble and if anybody should get a standing ovation and encouragement, it is our players and manager. They need all the help they can get and as we saw against Newcastle, the crowd have a massive effect. The crowd that day, pumped up our players and gave them extra reserves of energy, which helped us to make the comeback.

At other grounds, opposition players get booed to put them off their game. While we should not do that, we should certainly not be helping Ronaldo boost his adrenaline levels, by giving him so much love and encouragement.

If our defence wasn't so poor I would've put ourselves down for a 2-1 or even a 2-2 but I think it will be 3-2 to Juve

Of course Ronaldo should get a good reception. I'd clap a goal if we were 5 up too.

I don't see Juve embarrassing us because they play a controlled game. Our history against them gives me hope just as our history against Real Madrid always leaves me with an inferiority complex.

I dont watch enough of them to know what to expect, last season Spurs should have knocked them out and it was only Poch's naivety that cost them so that gives me hope

What doesn't give me hope though is when you look at the players at their disposal and if they were to go at us I could see us get absolutely spanked

Right now I'm going to predict a very bad night and a 0-3 loss

Really excited for this. Just hope our players turn up. A victory against a very good Juventus side could do wonders for us after the season we have so far endured.

    Come on United!

I don't think he will, Jose rates (rightly) Darmian very low, so I don't think he will start him.

On the juve side, rumors here in Italy is that Allegri will start with a back 3 (Barzagli, Bonucci and Chiellini), Cancelo and Alex Sandro on the wings, Matuidi and Pjanic in midfield and Dybala and Ronaldo as strikers. Doubt between Cuardrado/Betancur and Bernardeschi for the last spot (it would be 352 in the first case, or 343/3412 with the second). Apparently Douglas Costa will be benched and ready to be used if needed in the second half (he is usually very effective when used in this was)

It may be that I just don't watch as much Juve as others do on here, but on paper I'm not scared of that team above at all if its how Danoos has stated. Player for player (on paper) they don't seem any better than Chelsea. They are better than us in some areas but worse in others too.

    -------------Szczesny--------------
    ---Barzagli - Bonucci - Chiellini---
    -Cancelo------------------Sandro--
    ---------Matuidi---Pjanic----------
    --Cuadrado - Ronaldo - Dybala--

    ---------------Lukaku--------------
    --Martial-------Mata-----Rashford-
    ----------Pogba----Matic----------
    --Shaw-Lindelof-Smalling-Young--
    -----------------God---------------

Its not often we've played european royalty recently so hard to tell where we are up to, but most of them aren't much better than what we face in the premier league in battles of the top six. As evidenced by the close nature of games last season between other members of the top 6 and the euro elite. We rarely get spanked by our English rivals and I wouldn't expect Juve to be dishing out any spankings to us either as long as we don't just completely fail to show up. I reckon a draw with Juve feeling happy with the point.

Managed to get tickets to the game. Really excited. Reckon the players will step up and put in a great performance. We usually do in the big games

The only way they spank us 0-3 is if we go missing in defence and individuals make mistakes. Juve don't carve teams up as such, they maintain possession and pressure teams until they eventually break in Series A.

I want to see Pogba, Shaw Martial tear their right back a new one:drool:

    Huge opportunity for Chong

Two years ago, Marcus Rashford progressed rapidly from the U18s to the U23s and finally to the bench of a European game against Midtjylland. Anthony Martial picked up an injury in the warm up, Rashford was drafted in to the starting XI, he scored two and never looked back.

Last season, Tahith Chong was playing for the U18s. He progressed to the U23s and, thanks to a few first team injuries he has made it to the match day squad of a European game - against Juventus.

A week ago, he would probably have expected to play against a Juventus team today - their youth side in the UEFA Youth League. If he makes the bench tonight, it could be a huge opportunity for him to show everyone what he can do.

Note: For lineup prediction fans, he isn't in the selector on the right. We hope to have it so he will be listed at some point for future games.
Gotta have Tony Martial playing further inside tonight to support Lukaku, and to have him up against Barzagli on the right of their 3. Can see him putting the Italian on his arse at some point as he glides past him.

Juve will not go for this. They will sit back and be happy with a draw.
I hope we go out guns blazing, because of just this, but realistically this is a 0-0 or 1-1 game.

This article was apparently posted on our club's website and taken down. Doing rounds on the Juventus forums

Tuttosport had an article about it.

I never make predictions but I believe we have enough to win this. And that in doing so, it will continue our turnaround this season.

    Damien's predicted XI

Just under two hours until lineup predictions close. Today I'm going for an unchanged lineup but can see another midfielder, possibly Herrera, coming into the starting lineup for one of the attackers.

    De Gea

    Young Lindelof Smalling Shaw
    Matic Pogba
    Rashford Mata Martial
    Lukaku

Maybe they'll sit back if they go 2 up otherwise they will go for it and I doubt it will be at the expense of the defence. United will to stay compact, everyone will need to know their role and we'll need our attackers to pull their defence apart.

    Improving.

We have seen, in two second half performances in a row, that we have the capacity to increase the tempo, push up and really take the game to a side. The encouraging signs are there. We were unlucky to not come away with a win against Chelsea. Now is the time to turn recent positives into a 90 minute convincing performance against a top team, especially considering that we're with home advantage.

I'm really excited and strangely optimistic for this game. First proper European big game in a long while. I am sure the lads will be up for this. Historically, we have a very good record against Juventus, even away so I am confident we can beat them.

It has been ages. 4 years in fact, since Moyes against Bayern. Really excited for this. Nights like this are what a football fan lives for

    Disappointing but unsurprising

Wonder if Jose would start Andreas on the right in a 4231? Came on there against Chelsea and looked pretty decent. Good in possession, creative, and will us the option of bringing Rashford on if/when needed.

Either way, I really hope Jose continues with a 4231 system. We seem to defend much better as a unit using that system.

As long as Fellaini and McTominay don’t play I’ll be happy. I want to see our best attackers play like they did against Chelsea. Let these young players do what they do best and take on Juve! No need for negative tactics now

There is something that extra little special about a European night isn’t there?

I’ve been toying with the idea of putting Herrera in instead of Rashford however as so many other posters have said - it’s the first proper European night at Old Trafford in nearly 5 years and we were only 10 seconds away from taking all three points at the Bridge so an unchanged line up for me.

Expect Ronaldo to get his obligatory goal however I’m going 2-1 and let’s top this group
