    It's hard when they have nobody to pass to because of the system employed. Tactic is lump it up to a useless striker, or give it to Martial to dribble past 5 players before he even gets to the box.
     
    No one playing well, but if we want to get back in the game we're gonna have to take Mata off and put Fred or Herrera on (I would prefer Fred for his technical ability going forward at least). Ideally we would take Lukaku and Matic off as well to be dynamic as possible but we all know that won't happen. Bottom line is we can't play someone like Juve with only two in midfield when we have CB's scared to death to initiate anything from the back and one of the two midfielders is in a wheelchair he's so slow. Will be interesting to see how we adapt, because we can still get back in this game if we can sort out the midfield.
     
    So, apparently 4-4-2 died years ago. It was plastered all over this forum. You can't play 4-4-2 anymore, its dead.

    Well 4-4-2 is currently dominating us away from home
     
    I don't understand our team selection. For example they have Ronaldo and Dybala with Cancelo and Cuadrado both capable of bombarding the flanks. How do we counter to that? We play a failed winger on the right + we partner Smalling with Mr 'at least one mistake per game' Lindelof. Not only that, Juventus utilize an extremely tough and hardworking midfield. Matuidi, Pjanic and Betancur will fight for every ball. What do we do? We play Matic and Pogba in a 2 men midfield + Mata behind Lukaku. Matic and Lukaku are static + Pogba and Mata are hardly the most hardworking players around. We're basically asking Juventus to hammer us.

    We belong in the midtable after watching the team tonight. We are showing no quality or desire to win and we are playing at home. There need to be consequences for this pathetic display. I have have had enough of both the players and manager. We look like massive failures currently on pitch.

    Their midfielders have legs and Jose doesn't play the ones who can run for us. He's clueless for real
     
    Does Jose remember he bought Fred? It’s like he just forgot about him.
     
    What exactly is our tactic these days? We don’t play defensively nor do we attack. It’s some weird tactic where no one seems to know what to do. It’s like Jose is just telling the players to go out and play however they want.

    Lindelof played decently after the first 15 minutes. All our attackers were terrible, no cohesion whatsoever. Special mention to Lukaku and Matic. Lukaku will be one of the main reasons why Jose gets sacked. We’d be lucky to sell him for something like 50mil. We will never play fluid attacking football with him in the team.

    Please bring on another midfielder, it’s obvious we are getting overrun there. As usual, all the onus is on Pogba to create chances. The rest are just happy to give the ball to him and expect something.

    For our German visitors (before Juve scored that is).
     
    So easy for Juve to keep possession. No urgency to win the ball back.
    Start hunting in packs and press higher up the pitch instead of dropping deep.
    Bring Martial in more central, drift Mata out wider, flood the middle and use the full backs for width, push their full backs back into their half .
     
    Most of our issues are in our head. I would expect a better second half but this united team make passing 5 yards look difficult.

    This is exactly what we're not. We're playing like some League 2 minnow against a PL champion. If not for DDG we could easily be 3 or 4-0 down.

    No guts, no adventure. If there was a word to describe us, I'd say we're functional. Not even functional actually as that suggests we have a purpose. We're just shit.
     
    Poor first half yet again.I”m not too perturbed by our lack of possession,but whenever we have gotten the ball we have been extremely wasteful.Martial in particular has had a very poor half at both ends of the pitch...He’s constantly switching off at the back and he’s leaving loads of space on the left.Hes giving the ball away far too cheaply going forward...All in all,we were poor in the first half....

    Any remotely decent looking opening from us is being ruined by Martial. I thought he'd turned the corner around?

    Valencia had solid build up with it too, they just have the worst finishing in the world.
     
    Matic sprints until the cross goes in then he stops . stops just like he did at Stamford bridge for Barkley’s goal.
     
    We allowed two Juve players in our wall for that Ronaldo free kick and just left a big hole for him to shoot. What do we even do in training?

    When we showed an oz of attacking football from Martial and Rashford, Juventus sat back and played the counter.

    I would rather us take risks and go for a goal instead of sit back and let them run the show at our stadium.

    Don't get why everyone is slating Lukaku. You know he isn't at his best 30m from goal. Get him in the box, give him some service and he'll score goals. He does it every game for Belgium.
