5 at the back with 2 attacking wing backs and one CB able to step into midfield would be fine. I fear we will only get one of those (Dorgu).5 at the back at home against a team destined to get relegated![]()

Definitely. Even if it is the players being cnuts and downing tools for him, we can't keep a manager who the players don't get on with because we don't have the money to overhaul the squad.I'm seeing a game where we play well for once but fail to score enough - and lose.
I'm beyond expecting anything from this side under Amorim, but lose tonight and he needs to be in trouble because his inability to get anything decent out of this team in the league is beyond question now. The first half against Everton was enough for me.
Mazraoui has been really poor at RWB.Sit Dalot. Play Mazraoui at RB, can't be worse. Right?
If we can’t beat a relegation bound Ipswich at home then I really don’t know what to say anymore. Then again, it took final minute heroics to beat the worst team in Premier League history and we spammed a win against Leicester. I think we’ll scrape a 2-1 tonight.
Win this, and if West Ham beat Leicester, we'll end tonight 16 points clear of the drop zone. 11 points ahead of Wolves in 17th. Tonight and the Leicester game are must wins games. After the international break, April is looking a brutal month. Just win tonight!!! Would be nice to see a 3-0/4-0 professional win with Hojlund among the goals (he's needs the confidence)
Mazraoui is supposedly injuredThe way we look at the minute we'll struggle against every team in the league. Hopefully we'll get a win, but I doubt it'll be very convincing if we do.
I'd go with:
Onana
Dalot --- Mazraoui --- De Ligt ---- Yoro --- Dorgu
Ugarte --- Bruno
Eriksen --- Garnacho
Zirkzee
I imagine Hojlund will play over Eriksen though, and probably Maguire over someone. But they shouldn't.
This is the exact lineup I would choose, also. The way we look at the minute we'll struggle against every team in the league. Hopefully we'll get a win, but I doubt it'll be very convincing if we do.

I’d go with that but I have we anyone that can replace Dalot? He’s been awfulThe way we look at the minute we'll struggle against every team in the league. Hopefully we'll get a win, but I doubt it'll be very convincing if we do.

Wouldn't mind punting on Garnacho as a RWB. Of course that creates a mess in the 10 though.I’d go with that but I have we anyone that can replace Dalot? He’s been awful
Yeah that is why I saw throw in Maz (but, as a prior poster pointed out has also been poor at RWB too) to at least get a new body over there.I’d go with that but I have we anyone that can replace Dalot? He’s been awful
I thought it seemed unlikely that we wouldn't have lost at least one player injured from the last game.Mazraoui is supposedly injured
Dorgu's first United goal tonight
Hojlund's first goal this century
Am I on drugs? Maybe
I’d go with that but I have we anyone that can replace Dalot? He’s been awful
Find out after the gameAre they good ones and can I have some?
Ye I mentioned that earlier. There should be no way we play 5 defenders against Ipswich at home. Let’s go attackingWouldn't mind punting on Garnacho as a RWB. Of course that creates a mess in the 10 though.
We really should be trying something els. Garnacho maybe. Ain’t happening though as we all assumed he’d be given a shot at LWB before Amorims arrival but now that’s Dorgus position.Yeah that is why I saw throw in Maz (but, as a prior poster pointed out has also been poor at RWB too) to at least get a new body over there.
Last few games he’s been poor. Doesn’t really offer anything in attack. Or defence for that matter. Amorims Wing backs are usually known for racking up numbers with goals and assist.Dalot has played 39 out of our 40 matches this season across all competitions, 38 of them starts, and his total minutes is 37.1 full 90 minutes (i.e. he’s almost never subbed off).
I disagree that he’s been awful personally, I think he’s been awful at certain things, but either way, my main point is he, and Bruno, are quite literally the first name on the team sheet.
Other options are worse for various reasons. What I’d like to see more of, is replacing him with a winger like Garnacho if we’re losing and chasing a goal.
Sit Dalot. Play Mazraoui at RB, can't be worse. Right?
I keep reading this. I get the 5 defenders when the wing backs were Dalot and Mazraoui. But not when we had Amad there. And people seem to be counting it as five again with Dorgu there instead - but I'd count him very much as an attacking wide player than a defensive one, so more of a LWB/Winger than a defensive FB.Ye I mentioned that earlier. No way our coach is going to make such a dynamic, bold, attacking decision.Surely this is a game for Garnacho to play RWB or something. Let’s go attacking. If we play 5 defenders and 2 DM then the trust will be going.
Agree. Still should be upgraded this summer, but for now it’s what we haveHe is so much worse, it’s not even close. Terrible anytime he played there and exposes us defensively while adding very little offensively and failing to provide a real option (doesn’t stay wide and doesn’t make runs in behind). He has midfielder tendencies vs winger tendencies, which is terrible for this setup as your wingbacks are your source of width.
Dalot does a lot right in terms of runs, width, and coverage of his flank. His end product has been poor though, and the few times it’s not (cross to Amad vs Liverpool, cross across the face vs Tottenham to Hojlund), our attackers are not making the right runs.

One good thing is now with Dorgu on the other side, Dalot is no longer our only wide outlet. Before Dorgu arrived, a ridiculous percentage of our wide passes or passes in behind went to Dalot because no one made runs on the other side (unless Amad was at RWB). I think that in itself balances the team and means there will be more space generally for the #10s
I actually think we stand a chance of winning this one quite convincingly.
3-1 Yanited.
