I think the question we all want to know the answer to has got to be - is Abdoulay Diaby the great Abou Diaby's brother?

I can't seem to find any mention of it myself.. @Superpolfcb

    .....................De Gea......................
    ..Darmian...Smalling......Blind.....Shaw
    ..............Basti.................
    .......Mata... Herrera....Fellaini....Young/Depay........
    .....................Chicha......................

This would be a good time to play Chicha, if we intend to keep him as 2nd striker.
And cup tie DDG if possible :)

We should not underestimate Brugge and send a second string team on the field. This is too important that LvG will change anything in the line-up. I can only see Schweinsteiger starting in place of Carrick.

I think young, Ander and Bastian will start, Fellaini will be on the subs.
Lets win this 3-0 and give the likes of Jones, Rojo and Fellaini a start in the second leg

Hoping to see something like the below

    .....................Romero......................
    ..Darmian...Smalling......Blind.....Shaw
    ..............Basti...Schneiderlin..........
    .......Mata.....Herrera....Memphis...
    .....................Rooney......................

Yes that looks good to me.

For those going to the game I advise you leave an hour or more earlier than you normally do, especially if you’re coming from outside of Manchester. Mancunian Way is closed, Oxford Road is closed and there are no direct trams running from Piccadilly Train Station (replacement bus which gets will no doubt get stuck in traffic). Luckily for me I work near old Trafford cricket ground so will do a late one and way to the game, however, it took me over an hour to get to work today from the City Centre (normally takes 15mins max).

Anyone getting public transport I advise walking to Deansgate and getting the tram from there but it will be absolutely packed, it’s normally bad on weekdays with people trying to get home so you can imagine what it will be like with people trying to get to the game also.

Probably won’t be a bad idea to walk to the ground from the City Centre.

Won’t be surprised at all if kick off gets delayed.

Hoping to see two things tomorrow

    1) BFS embarking on the path of leading us to European glory
    2) Rooney finding the back of the net

I think we'll see Schweinsteiger make his first start, probably at the expense of Michael Carrick. The rest of the team will probably be the same that beat Villa. Fellaini might make the bench to hopefully get a bit of match sharpness before he makes a Premier League game squad.

    Romero
    Darmian Smalling Blind Shaw
    Schweinsteiger Schneiderlin
    Mata Januzaj Memphis
    Rooney
    --
Johnstone; Valencia, Rojo; Carrick, Herrera, Fellaini; Hernandez

Young will likely be on the bench as well, but I'm not sure who for.. Probably Carrick or Herrera.

For those calling for Rooney to be dropped, I think he's the kind of player who needs to play his way out of bad form. Should definitely start, once he scores, he'll inevitably bag a few. Not worried about his form right now at all.

From where is it closed? Can you still get onto the large roundabout near Deansgate?

I think they might be a change or two so I'm going to go with.

    - Romero -
    - Darmian - Smalling - Blind - Shaw -
    - Basti - Schneiderlin -
    - Mata - Fellaini - Memphis -
    - Rooney -
I don't think Rooney deserves to start but I can't imagine him not starting. Think Basti will play from the start as he's looked decent (and fit) in both substitute appearances. I think Fellaini will come in as despite Januzaj's goal at the weekend, I thought he was quite poor.

It's closed off between The Mcdonalds Hotel (so you have to get off there) until the junction of Fairfield street. You can get on at that roundabout but because it's down to one lane near the McDonalds Hotel then traffic was backed up all the way along Bridgewater way.

Don't think we'll see loads of changes. Schweini to start, perhaps Herrera too.

Same as Friday, but with Bastian instead of Carrick would be great. Hopefully Januzaj won't be dropped.

Correct. He scores then potentially could go on a run then.

Wonder if we are waiting to see if we get through this before our final spending push this window.

Atm we have spent only about £15-£18 million net, and the wage bill must be £20 million less per year, if we don't get through the loss of revenue will be astronomical, just makes me wonder if we want to be sure before committing any more funds this window.

I don't blame Rooney for not scoring. He's getting dick all service.

It's his lack of runs, and lack contribution to the build-up play that he must be blamed for.

Lovely having a lot of games back in the calendar. I missed watching United last year.

Why does he play so sporadically? I noticed this last season when I would occasionally check the Belgian league stats and such. Is his stamina that weak?

He's a strange player. Has massive potential but is still raw and there are several question marks surrounding him. The combination of his physical presence and his skills can be devastating, but it doesn't always end up like that. Even though he comes across very modest and intelligent in interviews, he's not acting that way when playing this season. He seems frustrated, lazy and is constantly complaining, while being unable to do the necessary running.

He's still young and has time to improve, but he shouldn't get carried away with all the reported interest from top teams. He has a long way to go and honestly, as long as you're exhausted after 40 minutes in a Belgian league match, you can forget about playing in the PL

Don't want to sound like a killjoy, but we need to qualify to be in the CL proper!

No way we play a weakened side for this, that would be absolutely bonkers. Underestimate these guys at your peril. I expect us to sneak through by the odd goal over the two legs.

Considering Van Gaal is our manager, this is probably the most unlikeliest starting 11. Especially, since this could be the most important match of his career. Don't know if you have been following us since last season or just woke up after the Moyes Coma. Herrera, Januzaj, Depay, Hernandez...sure...

I agree we need to play our strongest team but it would be disappointing if we just managed to sneak through, given the obvious disparity between the clubs' financial resources and that Brugge seem to have half their team injured.

    It's not, sadly.

Sure, would be great to get through comfortably, but there's so much at stake for both clubs I can see it being pretty tight. It's not like we're scoring freely atm. I've predicted 1:0 to us :)

pfft, I don't care if United go through in "embarrassing" fashion. 1-0 aggregate through an OG would be fine thank you. Nobody will remember when we would be playing the group games.
No way United storm through easily anyway. Just not in that vibe yet.

Same lineup as last weekend is my suggestion. I dont see why van Gaal should change something, Schweini isnt ready yet and Januzaj deserves another go, which means no Herrera and Young.

Would there be no point in resting Carrick for this game you think?

Why? He can play 45 or 60 mins easily. I know he was a bit injury prone last season, but i dont think he is as old as some on here think. I would be surprised if Carrick doesnt start.

I see, thanks for the response. In general, is there anyone in Belgium looking like they're on their way to make the step up? I've heard good things about Tielemans, Dendoncker, Miliknovic-Savic, and Simon Moses. Anyone else?

He's played about 3 quarters of 2 games that were a week apart; don't see why he should be rested.

We should start our best 11, we can rest players in the return leg if we've got a comfortable lead going in.
