Why? He can play 45 or 60 mins easily. I know he was a bit injury prone last season, but i dont think he is as old as some on here think. I would be surprised if Carrick doesnt start.

He's played about 3 quarters of 2 games that were a week apart; don't see why he should be rested.

We should start our best 11, we can rest players in the return leg if we've got a comfortable lead going in.

I guess you are right, I am probably just weary from last season's experience that we need to avoid any injuries. If Carrick starts I just can't see Herrera in that first XI tomorrow as some have been led to believe...

How many changes can LVG risk in this game. Yes it may be ''only Cub Brugge'' but if we're not careful we'll be on a sticky wicket with the lack of chances we're currently creating. I can't see him messing around in defence and reckon he'll stick with what he's played so far. That said I reckon he'll tweak things a little bit. With fans clamouring for Herrerea to start I reckon he might be given a chance and equally Fellaini has had t sit out the PL games throuh suspension so he might be given a start or at leats a sub appearance. I'd like to see someone other than Rooney given a run out for the CF position.

    Romero

    Shaw
    Blind
    Smalling
    Darmian

    Schweinsteiger
    Fellaini
    Herrera

    Depay
    Hernandez
    Januzaj

Brugge did well in the Europa League, topped a group containing Torino and Copenhagen, knocked out Besiktas and were knocked out by the finalists Dnipro 1-0 in the quarters. But I believe Brugge had about 8 players out injured for that tie.

    ------------------Romero
    -Darmian--Smalling--Blind--Shaw
    -------------------Schneiderlin
    -----------------Schweinsteiger
    Mata---------------Januzaj--------Young
    ---------------------Rooney

Would be surprised if he omitted Rooney. Had Wayne Wonder scored and looked good in the first two games then yes. But he needs goals to get kick started and this is the perfect game.

Don't expect too many changes. Think BFS will start though. Perfect game to give him 70 mins or so.

argh, didn't consider this, put Hernandez in the lineup prediction.

    -----------------Schweinsteiger

Looks like it could be right to me. I could see LVG not wanting to overuse Depay too early in the season and also Young being out there with the other team sitting deep and it being the CL. Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin would be side by side, though.

get an early goal and paste them please....

another solid defensive performance and 3 goals, pace and excitement please

hopefully Rooney and Depay can get off the mark

I hope we play Hernandez just to give him some game time. If he performs well then we can take Rooney off in games he is not able to impose himself and try something new.

No Memphis? Not even on the bench?

Basti, Fellaini and Herrera could be a powerful midfield on paper. A real lack of pace in there though.

Herrera lost the ball "a lot" in his last game. He was wasteful in possession.
I just don't see LVG liking Herrera, while he is playing that way.
Di Maria did the same last year and we all know how that went.

No idea why so many would play Fellaini. On one hand, we have much better options, on the other hand he hasn't played at all and we know how LVG is with starting players without game time. I think he will field the same or a similar XI like on the weekend. No need for risks now

Actually you could be dead on. Wouldn't be a bad line up either.

True, I certainly like the look of it. There's no way both Depay and Januzaj will start together after LvG's 'ball retention' comments after the Villa game.

He won't start Fellaini. If he does play it will be as a substitute.

It's either him or Mata IMO. I would go for Fellaini, rough them up a little.

No idea on the lineup for this one, just a shot in the dark :nervous:

I don't think he will change much, he'll look for continuity and the teams he has played has been good for form and fitness.

    Romero
    Darmian - Smalling - Blind - Shaw
    Carrick - Schneiderlin
    Mata - Herrera - Depay
    Rooney
Herrera in for Januzaj as Van Gaal criticised Januzaj for his possession, Herrera earned a start.

Januzaj was with him in the press conference. He's also Belgian. A tricky one. I think he'll swap Schweinsteiger for Carrick and maybe Herrara and/or Young in for Schneiderlin and/or Januzaj.

I'd have sold Fellaini by now, multiples times in every universe, but if Brugge are gonna sit deep (I have no idea if this is the case, but Belgian runner ups coming here with a home leg after and 3 or 4 injuries...) there are worse ideas considering how little anyone but Mata has done in the attack.

    Too adventurous for the "philosophy".
Yeah but guess what. Januazaj played the last game. Crazy right?

Really dont know what team to put, I think Schweini may start, not sure about Herrera, probably wont start, Januazaj too. Young on the left again and Memphis in the middle?

Guys I don't suppose anyone can message me an iPad app/website that will allow me to find a lovely watery stream for tonight's Champions Lake game. On holiday and even though there's a lot of sea here, it's a bit too salty for my liking.

I doubt that we will see an experiment today. This game is way too important so I guess we see a similar line up than last Friday. I'd love to see Pereira but it's just too early imo
