utterly terrible lineup and crazy that Smalling is behind Evans and Jones just because he isnt left footed. He and Rojo is obviously our best CB partnership. Deary me this lineup. Not dropping the under performing stars and pushing them all in again is comical.

He carries this on and he will lose the players, and when that happens.......its bye bye Van Gaal
Trouble is the ones he is picking will be quite happy.

Prediction = we play awful football but win by a couple and the usual "voices of reason" then proceed to post green laughing smileys at those doubting LvG and label them some derogatory title such as cry baby's

I can only hope that we play the ball quicker, show some movement and Van Persie and Falcao don't suck so much this time. It's Burnley at home and we should be beating them even with that line up but I'll still be left wondering what might be with a properly balanced team.

And comments like this are any better than that. Thank you for your wonderful contribution.

Falcao must score..Januzaj must put in a performance. Expect nothing less. Pretty gutted by the lineup tbf. Let's see what happens.

Not out of stubbornness. Just to play devils advocate, Herrera isn't going anywhere, we just bought him and he can chill on the bench for a bit. He wont drop Falcao because he's running out of games to prove his worth. He can't drop RvP because once he drops him, its more or less the end of him at United. Theres simply no playing his way back into the starting lineup at his age, especially not with Wilson waiting and eager. Plus he's the captain of the dutch national side and LvG obviously has a soft spot for him. Rooney is the most undroppable of the lot. New contract, new captain, etc. He simply has to accommodate all three in the starting lineup and unfortunately it looks like Herrera is the one to miss out. I genuinely think that's all there is to it and Herrera probably understands the situation. Unless either of the three get injured or suddenly become very shit, Herrera wont see much playing time this season.
It is the lack of games that is making things difficult. Persisting with two misfiring strikers isn't helping either.

If I am totally honest, Rooney has got to start delivering. I don't care that he is in midfield, he is contributing next to sweet FA.

We need him to set an example and speed up the game, have a bloody shot on target and try and find the strikers rather than wing backs all the time.

    Rant over.

    Lineup looks terrible.

McNair did well at RB vs Cambridge so he has earnt a start in that role, thats fair enough, and I guess Rojo can do a job at LB but I would rather see Blind or Young there.

Falcao and RVP both starting again, Rooney still in midfield, all our midfielders (except Blind) still on the bench.

What game are they showing on TV? I actually think I would prefer to watch the Chelsea Everton game....

    Lineup thoughts:
-Playing 3 at the back at home against Burnley would have been insane. Good for LVG not to do it.
-Falcao up front instead of Rooney up front and Herrera in midfield is bad.
-Januzaj instead of Herrera is an odd choice as well
-Evans' passing presumably got him the nod over Smalling, but if Barnes beats him in the air often enough we'll regret it. Still, Burnley at home.
-Can't believe I'm saying this, but if Herrera isn't going to start, isn't Fellaini in better attacking form than Falcao?

Seeing RVP and Falcao start again you'd think that they've earned their spots in the starting XI.

Of course they'll score today as we're playing Burnley at home but still, cringeworthy stuff.

You are being a tad dramatic mate.

Dramatic? We looked more convincing with Alan Smith in midfield than we do with Rooney playing there. The lack of 'balance' in our team is so obvious you could see it from space. Di Maria looks totally lost now Van Gaal has taken him out of midfield and wants him to be a #10, Rooney looks angry at not being closer to goal and his short passing game has gone to s-t, Blind is often totally alone, Adnan runs a lot and does not a lot, neither Falcao or Van Persie are taking chances world class strikers should take but getting game time while the likes of Fellaini and Herrera pick up splinters. We're going wrong mate and its the manager's fault. He has the players but he's trying to be too clever by half.

After watching Foxcatcher I am fearing LVG may be as crazy as coach De.Pont.

How can he start the same team? He really is a joker .

Why isn't Smalling match fit? He played full game vs Cambridge and then was simply benched I thought.
Hmm, maybe my memory doesn't serve me right. Oh, Jones is playing for his corners of course..

Cheer up. Maybe United will lose and you'll get to gleefully shout "I told you we were dogshit and LVG has to go!"

would really appreciate a stream. ace is preferred but anything that doesnt have 23 blurs chasing a blur will do. Thanks

Did you enjoy the west ham game? Its more or less the same team.

Can't say I did but I have confidence that the team is capable of producing better, and I'm looking forward to seeing it (unlike some of the other miserable so and sos in here).

I wanted Herrera in, but am amazed after all was said about the impact of Fellaini that he isn't starting. Well as the Glazers are there they can see for themselves how bad RvP and Falcao are.

I don't mind the line-up as much as I usually would purely because of the opposition, but if it goes wrong again tonight then there will be serious questions asked by a lot of people (and not just all of us CafTards).

We'll either just actually play well and beat them comfortably, or it'll go be a bore for 50-60 minutes before Fellaini/Herrera/Wilson are brought in to change things and it works. Manager will be justified and made the right changes, but we'll still complain that he should have just played Herrera from the start

With Carrick out injured he needs someone to control the midfield.. He's the only one of that type we have.

You'd never have imagined a lineup which included Rooney, RVP and Falcao would be collectively groaned at by most United fans.

Why LVG? Why? All 3 play utter shite football together.

This just baffles me to no end... :wenger:!!

How do both Mata and Herrera... two players who can pass and are comfortable on the ball not get time behind Falcao, RVP, *and* Rooney... all three.

No you're spot on. I think Rooney's contribution has flown slightly under the radar here. LVG is getting the flack for playing him out of position but even out of position Rooney should be contributing more than 50 misplaced switch balls.

Also, does anyone have a link to a good river for tonight? Usual site got closed down and haven't found a replacement that's any good yet...
