I don't mind the line-up as much as I usually would purely because of the opposition, but if it goes wrong again tonight then there will be serious questions asked by a lot of people (and not just all of us CafTards).

We'll either just actually play well and beat them comfortably, or it'll go be a bore for 50-60 minutes before Fellaini/Herrera/Wilson are brought in to change things and it works. Manager will be justified and made the right changes, but we'll still complain that he should have just played Herrera from the start
That's the problem though isn't it. If we are bad for that time and he has to bring players on to make an impact, why not let them make the impact straight from the start?

Is Van Gaal just being stubborn here? He is playing a team that doesn't work again. I accept that he won't drop his golden boy Van Persie but Rooney in midfield again and Falcao up top? What has Januzaj done to be in the lineup either?

He goes on about balance but we have a back four made up of centre backs and only one genuine midfielder in the starting lineup?!?!?

If anyone has a river, it would be greatly appreciated too :)

With Carrick out injured he needs someone to control the midfield.. He's the only one of that type we have.

True, but honestly the defence is the least of my concerns.

So Herrera needs to show improvements to get an opportunity to start. But Falcao and RVP can play as bad as they want but still start every week. Lol makes tonnes of sense to me.

Anyone recall us scoring early this season? Feel like there hasn't been a single match when we've be comfortable 15/20 mins in - something that was reasonably routine at home against weak teams with Fergie.

The more I think about this line-up the more I feel Van Gaal is just acting the stubborn child...

    "I'll show you... "

The knives are going to be out if this goes tits up tonight.

And comments like this are any better than that. Thank you for your wonderful contribution.

Sorry did I spoil your plan. I was just bringing some positivity to the thread that we'd still win.

Cheer up. Maybe United will lose and you'll get to gleefully shout "I told you we were dogshit and LVG has to go!"

Or we'll win playing fantastic football and we can all enjoy it without people trying to paint themselves as a wise LvG disciple. And laughing at people who have valid concerns.

Nah yours is more likely to be fair

Thought maybe Livescore made a mistake with our lineup. Came here to find out they havent.

It's getting to the point where I wish one of the CFs gets injured so that we actually field the right team.

Not a good team, but I can see the logic in playing falcao and RVP against a relegation candidate at home. Don't agree, but I can see the logic.

    Lets play a game.

Guess the minute which Van Gaal sends Fellaini on to save us.

    I call 71 minutes.

That's an ego > facts lineup, plain and simple. If you take ego away from it, base lineup decisions on stats, talents and actually watching the games, nobody in the world would pick that side again.

No matter how much drugery our previous games have been, when I see the lineup I'm always full of hope that this time will be different.

This time the team will connect and play beautiful football befitting of the names on the team sheet.

    I never learn.

Can't say I did but I have confidence that the team is capable of producing better, and I'm looking forward to seeing it (unlike some of the other miserable so and sos in here).
So am i, but saying its a great team after that performance just seems wrong. We should have seen changes. We will win though.

Imagine a scenario two years ago when you saw United line up with Rooney, RVP and Falcao in the same team. And you were disappointed.

    I'm there. Right now.

By all means start them against a relegation candidate...but play the creative players to supply them too. Mata and Herrera.

What has Herrera done to be blanked?
Why has Mata - one of our best performers drop out after a lengthy period of being a starter and doing well?

That's the problem though isn't it. If we are bad for that time and he has to bring players on to make an impact, why not let them make the impact straight from the start?
Yeah, that's exactly right in my opinion. I really think that Herrera is the player we bought to try and fix our disaster of a midfield, so it baffles me that he can't get a kick (especially when his substitute appearances have been good).

Same. I'm always hoping that this is all part of the plan, that the players just need time to gel together and then suddenly United will become unstoppable

But week after week, that hope dwindles.

Don't care about anything except those three points. Those lads on the pitch whether they're playing in or out of position, need to be professional. They have 10 times the ability of most of the Burnley players so I expect them to earn their money tonight.

No, erm, what? I feel like screaming, better to laugh .

I have the feeling that Evans is starting over Smalling, simply because he's more comfortable on his left foot.

Any how, despite all the negativity around the team, I think, as unbalanced as the team is that we'll still beat a team of Burnley's quality.
