The only thing you can hope is the glazer in the stand can see if they dont buy better players then 6th or lower will become the norm. Absolutely diabolical

Stick two unproven midfielders on for first game of the season. Brilliant thinking.

It’s easy to say this with hindsight after that half.
I said it before the game started. McTominay doesnt deserve to play after his pre season display. Fred did ok in pre season

Armchair managers UNITE!!! We need solutions...STAT!

we should just do what i used to do on fm. i’ll insert myself as city manager and buy mctominay for £129m and we’ll use that money to buy ronaldo back from real.

Suppose it is better than playing someone who is proven to be poor.

Not addressing the midfield this summer is dereliction of duty from the club. Eriksen was a nice depth signing, but he's not a replacement for McFred, next to Maguire, the biggest frauds on the team.

United's transfer policy is just a joke.
We know this. This club (thank to Glazers) is about earn them money not win titles.
Incompetence at all levels of the club is simply criminal.

To think we didn't want to spend 5 million pounds on that Moises Caicedo kid a year ago, and look at him now, completely dominating us 2 games in a row.

Honestly, EtH deserves this for not realizing hat McFred midfield and Maguire as captain will sink any manager

    Hopefully he learned his lesson
I cant really say anything against that. McFred just cant be trusted, it has been clear for 3 years. I just hope that EtH is as strict and tough as I believe he is and make radical changes

Scholes absolutely ripping Fred and especially McTominay apart. About time someone gets real.

How the feck we are still lining up with McTominay and Fred in midfield is beyond me. I struggle to think of any Premier League side, let alone one that claims itself to be a "top six club", that would tolerate those two for so long.

I mean, we practically need a whole new team. A new GK, RB, a couple of quality CM's, RW, ST. This is going to take forever.

Dalot is one of our better players this first half. But agreed on McFred, especially the first half of the partnership.

    Are you for real?!
Dalot has been feckin awful. He’s lost possession 10 times! TEN!

This is on the club if you ask me. Starting the season with the same shit players, will produce the same old shit. This shouldn’t be news.

Cannot watch any more of this. I am done. Too depressing. The problem has always been personnel and the club has sat on its hands

This game nicely illustrates the difference between preseason and real matches.

All the things people worried about: Slow centre backs being run ragged, McFred not being able to use the ball properly etc. Its all happening.

Ten Hag is a great coach but today should be a bit of a wake up call. Both for him and the club.

If we're genuinely not going to buy a defensive midfielder to help protect that defence we deserve the season ahead of us.

if the post match thread doesn’t have ‘| gross misconduct’ after it i’m leaving to a different forum.

It's one half. But honestly it's so sad having to watch Fred and McTominay. I'm like a broken record moaning about them, but they're so average.

Dalot and Shaw aren't good enough either.

Not signing A midfielder(in an ideal world we should have signed 2) is criminal negligence in my view. It’s unbelievable….I just can’t get my head around it!!!How can we lose Pogba and Matic and not sign a new midfielder!!!What exactly are our midfield options for this season?Mctominay,Fred,Garner and Lisandro who can play at 6!!!Bloody disgraceful!!

Buying Varane and Martinez made little sense.

The problem is DDG that offers no support for defenders and the fullbacks not being good enough and most important lacking a midfield that is pressure resistant. You can put Van Dijk there and we would still concede.

Fred and McTominay have been the main Midfield at United for like 3 seasons.

And they where shite from day 1.

For me this bad team performance is on Fred and McT. McT keeps forgetting the ball behind him and Fred is very nervy and playing like a kindergarten kid with no patience or positional sense.

FDJ wouldn’t have helped much at all in this game.
We still need that commanding, quick CDM

I watched Palace and Everton work extremely hard against Arsenal and Chelsea, and gave a good account of themselves despite their loss, while Arsenal and Chelsea had to give their best to win.

Brighton aren't even breaking a sweat and they are up 2 nil, imagine Brighton go a gear higher, I shudder at that thought.

Ten Hag needs to find a way to get these players play with far higher intensity and desire, they are being very pedestrian and easy to play through

Surprise surprise it’s the usual clowns messing up again. Ten Hag needs to man up quickly and bench these cnuts or things will turn sour quickly for him. Dear me!
