People talking about resting players, the team will have had a full week to recover by saturday. I hope OGS won't rest anyone, we need to keep the momentum going, let's go out there will the best we have.

    This.

I’d like to see Fred given a shot and Sánchez to come in for lingers who looked gassed at spurs. The temptation is there to rest Rashford too for our £90 million square peg striker. That’s depressing that I don’t want Rom to start anymore but this season has been an absolute disaster for him. I’d sell if we could and look at someone who can at least effect the buildup or do the unexpected. Failing that use the money for a Sancho! : )

4-0 united. Let the happy days continue!

This is as much a test as the last for me. We have dropped so many points to crap sides in recent years, and this will be a massive mental test for us. Very easy to have our eye off the ball, as it seemed everything we were doing under Ole was leading up to some sort of judgment day against Spurs. The subconscious could almost feel a sense of achievement or completion following Spurs, and the challenge is to keep on going.

I always expected us to beat Spurs. I’m actually less confident of this one.

Brighton will be well organised, and will try to make sure they aren't exposed to any quick counter attacks (i.e. don't expect to see their full backs getting ahead of the play). If the Liverpool game is anything to go by, they won't change their tactics much if they ship an early goal.

This could be a real grind as we'll be up against 10 men behind the ball for most of the match and time wasting from the outset. I think Brighton's full backs are a weak point, so I expect Martial and Young (if he plays RB) to be key. The centre of their defence is a strong point, so we need to find ways to drag them out of position (Lingard playing in that point of the diamond role perhaps). If we're deep into the game and haven't made the breakthrough, then Mata could have a role to play.

They aren't a very creative side, so we shouldn't have too many problems defensively, except perhaps from set pieces.

To my mind, a 1-0 or 2-0 win is the most likely outcome.

That's a very detailed break down of Brighton's strengths and weaknesses (to exploit). Do you watch Brighton play, regularly?

The people demanding key players be rested for this will be the first moaning when we drop points.

We need to play our strongest team available. Brighton are no walk over!

I agree I wouldn't rest any players but this is an opportunity for Ole to bring Dalot in, Smalling could come in if fit and I would argue Mata could replace Jesse as the latter probably won't be asked to play the specific role he was charged with at Wembley.

I agree fielding a weakened team would be ridiculous given the rest we'll have after this but making a couple of changes need not be a mistake.

Only Dalot and Fred on for Young and Herrera should be possible changes. Sanchez for Lingard perhaps and Smalling for Jones if fit due to Brighton's height advantage.

Oh well, I wouldn't mind an unaltered X11 either, but against a parked bus we might need to tweak a bit.
Fred perhaps has potentials but his game is very loose for an experienced international. Maybe some lost of confidence there.

Dalot too but his defensive game is poor. Maybe after the team leading 2 or 3 goals up. Same for Fred.

Smalling I agree as Jones is being Jones. Sanchez should be introduced slowly, as last game suggested that his injury can resurface. So a few sub appearance should be good.

Last thing you want to do is make the pitch narrow if they're going to defend deep with 10 men behind the ball.

We need to keep the width, work the ball quickly side to side and get the fullbacks overlapping + crossing regularly.

It'll be our usual 4-2-3-1, no reason to change that. The diamond was purely to combat Tottenhams strengths.

Don't rest players. Same front four again. Let's get them clicking even more and build their momentum. Sanchez and Lukaku to be brought on at 80 mins.

Agreed. If anything, I want to see that the freedom and feel good factor Ole has brought is coupled with the need, desire to win every game even against lesser opposition.

Changes are required for Brighton. Dalot and either Bailly or Smalling (if fit) to start.

    -----------------------de Gea--------------------------
    Dalot-------Lindelof----Baiily/Smalling-------Shaw
    --------------Herrera------Matic--------------------
    -------------------------------Pogba-----------------
    -----Lingard----------Rashford------------Martial--

Fred and Lukaku off the bench

Brighton quietly having a fantastic season. Squad depth has massively improved from last season - Locadia and Andone have looked handy and while Solly March has gone off the boil a little recently, he's been great most of the season. Really looking forward to watching them at the Amex in a couple of weeks time.

As for this match, United should win comfortably but i wouldn't be surprised to see Brighton get a goal - I'll go 3-1.

Starting to think we wont need Lingard's running and Mata could/should start.

They will defend deep and not commit forwards too much and will try to eliminate any fast breaks from us.

These types of games are more suited to Mata who can pick passes and be that creative spark that Jesse cant do.

Also, Mata's free kicks are so deadly and there will be loads of opportunities as they will surely get stuck in while defending deep.

week between games, already rested players going into spurs game. Makes no sense to rest now. Plus, not like we were beasts against lower teams during Mou's time with us this season. All this talk of rotating and playing mata-yeah we've seen that before. Doesn't work. Need to attack the whole width of field and not just have everybody smashed into a small box while the right side is empty as hell.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have at least one more player available for selection on Saturday, when his Manchester United side host Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford in the Premier League.

Ivory Coast international Eric Bailly is eligible to play once again after serving the three-match ban that was given to him for the red card he received against Bournemouth on 30 December.

In his recent absence, Phil Jones and Victor Lindelof have both started every match together at centre-back and importantly kept clean sheets against Newcastle, Reading and Tottenham. Elsewhere in defence, Argentina international Marcos Rojo is still unavailable due to injury.

Meanwhile, it is hoped that Alexis Sanchez could return to the squad for Saturday’s 15:00 GMT kick-off against Brighton after the Chilean powerhouse was pictured training on Wednesday morning.

Our no.7 missed the trip to Wembley Stadium last weekend because he was “not ready”, according to Solskjaer, who also said the player is “having a hard time” of getting rid of his troublesome injury.
Chris Smalling, Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba did not take part in the section of training that was open to the media, but that does not necessarily mean they are unavailable for selection at this stage of the squad's preparations for Saturday.

Solskjaer may provide an update on the squad when conducting his pre-match press conference at the Aon Training Complex on Friday, which you can follow live in the club’s Official App.

I live near the city, and several of my friends are season ticket holders. We often discuss football generally, and Brighton in particular. I don't go to see them much myself.

Agree. Spurs win doesn't mean anything if we drop points here.

Any chance of some yoof on the bench?

Would love to see what Greenwood offers as a late sub but I' afraid it will only be trampoline lukaku to showcase his obilix impression. Lukaku shouldnt be near first team til he loses a stone

Defensive set pieces are the only real worry. Don't concede silly free kicks and avoid corners as much as possible and we'll be fine.

Really dislike brighton. Become a bogey team for us and even the game we beat them in was a horrible scrap with a deflected goal. One of a few teams id like to see us hammer, but as always - will take any win and move on building momentum

Think it will be a tough game

Different kind of test this game. After the big build up for Spurs it will be interesting to see if OGS can get the players into the right head space for this "easier" game.
Just another box for Solskjaer to tick before the end of the season

That's funny. Please, it's Brighton. We will beat them for sure.

Hopefully Bailly can start alongside Lindelof as the main pairing for the rest of the season (if we don't get any reinforcements). Fred, Lukaku and Sanchez to come off the bench. Just hope we smash these feckers.

Bailly has been worse than Jones so far this season and even prior to his red card didn't look composed.

Our best pairing is Smalling and Lindelof. Hopefully Bailly or Jones can hold the fort till Smalling is fit.

Feeling pretty confident about this one. If we can continue playing the way we have, it should be a comfortable one.

They’ve beaten us twice in a year. We beat them 1-0 by a fortunate deflection at OT.

Beat them 2-0 in the Cup though. Game certainly isn't a giveme and it would just be like this United side to beat Spurs and then drop points at home to Brighton

I was not aware of this.
Brighton could well be our bogey team.

We lost Brighton away this season and last season. We won at home last season, fortunately. We did beat them in the Cup though.
