Sanchez was injured for the last match, so he couldn't even make the bench.
You want Sanchez to not only make a full recovery, but you want him to go straight into the starting XI?

And as for Fred - we need to win matches. Brighton are not a pub team, so we need our strongest team available.
Lukaku - don't even get me started, here. We'll talk about Lukaku after he has lost 10KG. :p

Great. Why would we need squad rotation anyway?

If we're looking for a game to rest players in, it would be Burnley I think. Now we'll have had a whole week's rest, likewise before the next one against Arsenal (6 days). Then we've got Burnley in the space of 4 days. Followed by a 5 days' break before Leicester away. Not a perfect scenario as you must keep your subs sharp I agree but could be much worse.

It's not just to rest players though. Fred, Sanchez (if fit) and Lukaku need game time. Smalling, if fit, can get some minutes as well.

It's much more to keep the subs sharp, as you say, than to rest first team players.

It really worries me that theres people on here that want us to "rest" Rashford, a 21 year old who's on fine form right now, the kid needs to be playing every game to keep this momentum going and the confidence building and scoring goals,

He's a professional athlete, he can handle 2 games in 6 days ffs

plus it's 3 points in the PL, not a carling cup game against Scunthorpe,

    de Gea
    Dalot - Lindelof - Jones - Shaw
    Fred - Matic - Pogba
    Lingard - Rashford - Martial

Give Herrera some rest after that last game, he was completely knackered.

I know, however I don't think we're ready to beat a Prem side while making wholesale changes or replacing a few our crucial players and we can't take chances. Has to be done wisely, like one player rested at the time and not say Rashford, Martial and Pogba at once. Smalling is different as he, with Lindelof, are our best CBs

EDIT: onemanarmy's team above presents the maximum changes I'd try. I do believe we need to give Lukaku some playing time, though. Don't want to put too much burden on Rashford and it's better to have at least sharpish Lukaku but then again, you can't drop Rashford now.

It's a bit of a catch 22 but I know but they should only get in the team if the player in their position drops form, gets injured or if they are tired and need a rest or lastly tactical reasons. They need to know that they have to work hard for a starting spot and then to keep it. Unless any of these reasons occur I would only coincider a slight rotation for Burnley.

It's not like any of them were setting the world alight before injury etc and deserved to go straight back in.

I'm looking forward to seeing a from 3 of Martial, Rashford and Sanchez but he has to earn it first.

They all were, high intensity pressing is a new game for everyone. If anything they need playing consistently in order to maintain a high level of fitness because at some point another team is going to sit deep and make life hard for us, wait for us to get tired after 60 minutes or so then go hell for leather like Spurs did. We need to address that ASAP.

For me, it should be more or less same 11. One thing I really didnt like was the team never consistent under Jose and bad squad rotations. Ole should continue to do what he is doing unless theres injury concerns.

    Indeed.
I'd play him every 3 days, if he was okay with it and feeling, good.

    Yep.
Though, if I may, I would suggest that Phil Jones be replaced with any available senior defender. Phil Jones is not the kind of defender I would rely on.

If Martial is on the left. And Rashford centre, are you suggesting that Sanchez be played on the right?

BTW: have we ever played Sanchez on the right, since he came to MUFC?

Couple of changes. People keep asking what the point of changes are, but I think it’s worth noting that fatigue is just as much mental as physical. So yea, one week between games is one thing, but the players have put in great effort over the past 3 weeks to keep winning these games, and important to keep them fresh mentally.
You also want a few of the players who haven't played as much to be played into a bit of match fitness so we can change it up if someone needs resting/hits a rough patch/gets injured. It could be crucial to have someone like Sanchez match fit for the rest of the season (provided he works out better under Solskjær's setup). Fred, Pereira and Dalot as well probably. We cannot expect our current first IX to play all the remaining games. Especially the likes of Herrera and Lingard are putting in a lot of hard work.

EDIT: I'd probably let Fred or Pereira start with Herrera/Matic and Pogba and stick either Smalling or Dalot in for Jones or Young, respectively. Then if Sanchez is fit give him half an hour or more in the second half depending on the score.

Game is four days away. :(
We need all our big players. This is not the time for rotation. Only change i'd consider is Dalot for Young.
We need to star quickly, get the job done then watch the Arsenal/Chelsea game with our feet up.

Got a feeling Ole may make a change or two just to keep everyone fresh and ready. Keep the front 3 as it is though.

    De Gea

    Dalot
    Lindelof
    Jones
    Shaw

    Fred
    Herrera
    Pogba

    Lingard
    Rashford
    Martial

    subs:

    Romero
    Darmian
    Young
    Matic
    Mata
Sanchez (if not fit, then A.Pereira)
    Lukaku

    Prediction:

    Man Utd 2-0 Brighton
    Goals - Martial & Pogba

If by resting Rashford people mean subbing him for Lukaku around 70th minute when he's scored 1 or 2 I agree

    Hehehe.
I think they mean, start Lukaku, with Rashford on the bench.
It's almost as if they haven't learned anything from what they've seen this season. :D

If Martial is on the left. And Rashford centre, are you suggesting that Sanchez be played on the right?

BTW: have we ever played Sanchez on the right, since he came to MUFC?
That's the way I would like to see it, with them all interchanging. Or like in the last match with split strikers in Martial and Rashford and Sanchez deeper in the middle(tactics dependent) . I don't think Rashford or Martial should move unless they drop form.

I've don't recall seeing him on the right whilst here (only Barcelona tbh) , but it was where I was hoping he was going to play when he joined. On the left he seems a little predictable where he just checks right and shoots.

This is going to be a tough game, where I think we drop points. Just have a feeling we'll start well, not put it away, and get pegged in the end.

I'm sorry, but do you still think Mourinho is managing us? With the added confidence of beating Spurs, I reckon we'll do really well. Brighton never get outclassed but we could do them one. I'm going for a 3-0. Our first 5-0/6-0 will come against Burnley.

Brighton will be well organised, and will try to make sure they aren't exposed to any quick counter attacks (i.e. don't expect to see their full backs getting ahead of the play). If the Liverpool game is anything to go by, they won't change their tactics much if they ship an early goal.

This could be a real grind as we'll be up against 10 men behind the ball for most of the match and time wasting from the outset. I think Brighton's full backs are a weak point, so I expect Martial and Young (if he plays RB) to be key. The centre of their defence is a strong point, so we need to find ways to drag them out of position (Lingard playing in that point of the diamond role perhaps). If we're deep into the game and haven't made the breakthrough, then Mata could have a role to play.

They aren't a very creative side, so we shouldn't have too many problems defensively, except perhaps from set pieces.

To my mind, a 1-0 or 2-0 win is the most likely outcome.

The people demanding key players be rested for this will be the first moaning when we drop points.

We need to play our strongest team available. Brighton are no walk over!

Keep the same team to start. This is an important game against an organised team. Brighton tend not to travel too well, but I just want us to push on through, and seek a win. If, if we are a couple of goals up with 30mins to go, then by all means, we make some subs.

I think this is another tough game.

    Lindelof to score one please.
That'd be thoroughly deserved. Dalot should get in on the action as well.

People actually saying rest players when we have two games in the next two weeks? Only game in the forseeable future where we should rest players should be away at Fulham, three days before the PSG game. And for that game we could have players like Dalot, Fred, Pereira, Lukaku and Sanchez getting game time.

Brighton will be without first-choice goalkeeper Mat Ryan who's at the Asian Cup. Jason Steele or David Button to deputise.

Exactly. Why would we be resting players?

It is stupid for anyone to suggest that we rest players. Same team so we go again!

Only Dalot and Fred on for Young and Herrera should be possible changes. Sanchez for Lingard perhaps and Smalling for Jones if fit due to Brighton's height advantage.

Oh well, I wouldn't mind an unaltered X11 either, but against a parked bus we might need to tweak a bit.

Starting Fred in a league game would be downright daft, which OGS isn’t.

Same lineup as against Tottenham, hopefully get a couple of early goals and then get a few subs

Bailly available? or this would be his last suspension?

If he's available, and if Smalling is also back, would be a good game to try a new CB partner to Lindelof -- a tryout/preparation before next week FA cup vs Arsenal. We know Smalling-Lindelof is good, so this would be a game for Smalling to regain his match fitness.

:nervous: I have no confidence at all with Jones.

People are getting a bit cocky. This is not a game to experiment in at all. Possibly rest Herrera if you can conceive of a good way of doing it (starting Fred doesn't cut the mustard for me, I'd rather see Pereira at the moment), but otherwise it should be a full strength side. Burnley is the match to play with the line-up.

People talking about resting players, the team will have had a full week to recover by saturday. I hope OGS won't rest anyone, we need to keep the momentum going, let's go out there will the best we have.

Jones has done well under Ole. No need to drop him at this time.

Brighton are a well organized team with a very combative centre forward and they will make life difficult for our boys. We need to pick our strongest 11 and play well to beat them. No change from last weekend assuming no new injuries. Maybe Rashford through the middle this time because Brighton full backs won’t be as far forward as the Spurs lads were on Sunday.

Wouldn't be surprised if there a few team and tactical changes as Ole uses the game to try out in a match situation how he intends setting us up to play away to Arsenal in the FA Cup only 6 days later.

Or he'll just switch Young to left-back and spell Shaw who is running on empty, and bring Dalot in at right-back and keep the rest of the team the same as started against Tottenham, and try and get his ideas across for the Arsenal match @ Carrington.

Straight WWWWW under our form guide...
I’ve been thinking about this a lot. Every time I check the premier league site’s table I look at this and think, it’s been ages since we’ve had 5 green W’s. It was that run last year around February I think.
