Not only do we need a good run of wins, we need to start piling on the goals as well. Very good chance our goal differential could hurt us down the road.

    Simon Stone (BBC):

Phil Jones said earlier he will be available for @ManUtd on Saturday. Missed 6 games with bruising on foot but started training last week.

Jones being fit would be a welcome boost - we will need to rotate our CB's for this game and the Rostov fixture.

Then maybe you should stop looking at the trophy value and look at the kind of consistency and quality it would take for a team to win three knock-out competitions in the current footballing scenarios where nearly every team is capable of knocking off the giants. We have to look back at our performances in past few seasons, including a few under Ferguson's, where we simply weren't good enough and got knocked out of competitions even when we were in easy groups in CL and up against not so strong teams in other competitions. The quality in United team has been gradually declining and we had become frustratingly inconsistent up until this run we have embarked on. It will make this feat indeed quite magnificent and we can look forward to having one of the best seasons come the next year.

Frankly, if I were presented a choice between United winning PL and United winning League Cup (we already have so I included it), FA Cup and Europa, I would take the latter (plus the added bonus of a top four finish like you mentioned). I really do think the latter is a much more of a test of our squad's ability right now and something that will assure me more of our team strength as the season comes to a close. Premier league is a mess with teams dropping points all the time. Teams are being pushed up the table by crap performances by other teams rather than their own consistency. Even then several giants keep dropping points and the table isn't actually decided until the last month. We could win PL this year and go down out of top four the next if we're not strong enough (and drop out of CL without putting up a fight). Happened with Chelsea, happened with Us, Happened to Liverpool (they came close), happened to City. But we won't win the trio of trophies if we're not strong enough. I personally feel it will indeed be a magnificent feat for a team in United's position and if it indeed happens, I will be so much more assured of our quality and will have much higher hopes of us doing well in CL and PL the next season.

Bit wordy but right on the money Raj! :smirk:

When you look at United's overall history if isn't magnificent. We mocked Liverpool fans for gloating about their 'worthless treble' back in 2001 and you wouldn't swap these three trophies for a league title, even with a top-four finish thrown in.

One could argue that every year, one team or another wins the EPL & therefore qualifies for the CL (which is what we'd really like to win again) but one team almost never wins 3 trophies, as well as qualifying for the CL. Should we actually go on and win all three (and not need to qualify in the top 4 - but we do anyway), I for one might prefer that. Now, if we hadn't won the league in a decade or two like some scousers we know, that might be different  But lets face it, we have been spoilt and we have in fact won a few league titles and only one (real) treble.
To this point I think only those same (loser) scousers have won a treble of any kind albeit polymer. Why not take that 'plastic statistic" from them too! Magnificent & very !

But yeah, in light of the mess left by the awful Moyes and LVG eras it sounds pretty magnificent right now.
I know you are probably relatively young, but Moyes & LVG were not our only managers to give us little or nothing to cheer about. Some of us remember the 26 years without a League Championship and only the odd FA cup to shout about.

They've been in terrible form and conceding goals for fun. They've conceded on average 2.85 goals per game since the beginning of 2017.

Nothing is for granted and we need to get out there and perform but this definitely a very winnable game.

Statistically and logically, we should beat them easily, however, as we have seen earlier in the season, we seem to bring out MOTM performances from opposition GKs.
If they can get to 0-0 at half time, they can park the bus and really drive hard for a 0-0 draw.
If they attempt to attack us, we should be able to win comfortably.

We were not convincing versus Southampton so hoping for a better display. Agree with sunama in that we must score first and in the first half. Bournemouth will probably play out of their skins but it is a huge game for our top 4 hopes with Arsenal playing Liverpool. Please can we just have a big 4-0 or 5-0 for once :(

In fairness, we didn't miss too many chances against S'ton which was refreshing! And without knowing the exact stats, our shots -to-goals ratio should be imroving of late I would think?
I think we might let in a goal on the weekend but score three in reply!

Bournemouth are in horrible form, we are playing at home and full of confidence after claiming the first trophy of the season. So I would not be surprised with their keeper having the game of his life and the game finishing in draw. However we should be putting this team away convincingly especially knowing we play first and the two teams directly above us are playing each other, I expect a win and I'm going for 3-1. Hoping for a draw between Arsenal/Liverpool and finishing the weekend 5th but level on points with 4th place.

De Gea, Valencia, Jones, Rojo, Blind, Pogba, Herrera, Martial, Micky, Mata, Zlatan.

The ideal would be to go out and smash them inside the first 45 so we can sub a few of the big guns off. Good to see Jones get some minutes. Might be a good one for Shaw to come back in for as well.

A win is a must. Liverpool and Arsenal play at Anfield and we need to capitalise on this. Cannot afford to slip this chance. A defeat for either or a draw will give us a fantastic opportunity to climb up the table.

I've no idea what to do with my CB partnership prediction. I've gone for Bailly and Smalling atm but I have no confidence in that prediction. At this stage I've also pretty much lost all hope in Shaw returning, even for a sub appearance! There was a stage where I was putting him as a sub in each week's prediction, but no longer.

This has fifty attempts on goal ultimately fortunate scoring draw written all over it.

Regarding talk of Trebles etc, we won 'The" Treble. Dippers won "a" Treble, and we would be matching theirs.

But like most, I just want to qualify for the Champions League : ideally by being in the top 4, then anything else is a brucie bonus.

Regarding Europa, if we're going to get knocked out, lets get knocked out sooner rather than later like the Dips did last year !

This shows it as 00:00AM to me currently, whereas it’s 14:00GMT? so 10?
Technically you are correct, but as someone currently living within that time zone, I can confirm that 99% of that timezone currently has the time as 1:10 rather than 00:10. It''s because of daylight saving time. Ordinarily, you would be correct!
So more accurately it's AEDT, not AEST.

Can't believe that people in 2017 have used days to figure out what time a Manchester United game kick offs.

Feck me, that’s easy. So there’s a time zone, but within that time zone, the time can vary? :wenger:

I'm pretty sure the settings can be changed so it shows which time the game is in the top right hand corner of this thread. It shows the local time for me at least.
