This shouldn't be a competition today. We will get slaughtered.

more worrying for me other than the state of experience in the side, is that Arsenal normally rally after a defeat, and we tend to slip up after a victory...

All in all id love a win, and more importantly an entertaining game. i just worry our defence is going to be torn asunder. we have 2 central midfielders at CB, and we arent bayern munich.

Two things: thank feck DDG is back, he's going to be busy. Thank feck also we're playing perhaps the only team that could bottle it against such a weak line up.

I hope it's Rojo CB, can't have both Blind and Carrick together.

Will have to defend very deep to make sure welbs or Walcott can't get in behind, because once they go, they're gone against those two. Not sure Rojo is that quick either.
Rojo is plenty quick for a CB. But they put out a rapid forward line, not to mention Bellerin.

I'm not sure, Carrick is not a CB and more immobile than any of the other options.

Yeah it's not ideal, but Blind-Rojo with Riley wide or Rojo-McNair with Blind wide would see Walcott/Bellerin shred us to pieces on that flank anyway; I'd rather have our lack of pace exposed in the middle where Schneiderlin is supporting than out wide where Memphis is.

Arsenal at full strength, aside from Cazorla. A huge ask for us to win. I'll gladly take a draw.

Big performances from De Gea, Schneiderlin and Memphis are required.

    VAN GAAL ON SKY SPORTS
"We have won two in a row so the confidence has raised but we have 12 injuries and have to cope with that. There have been no training sessions - we've had to recover after playing Midtjylland and we could not train. When I've see the players in lunches and meetings, they are bright and there is a good spirit."

He does realise who we were playing does he? Also he reacts to this sort of thing like they are a bunch of school kids excited about going on a school trip.

Likely we are in for some battering but am happy the young lads are having an opportunity to make a name for themselves.
I like the Blind/Carrick back line, only problem is their lack of physical presence.
    Let the moaning commence.

Pressure is most definitely on Arsenal. If there ever was a team that could bottle this, it's them.

Louis van Gaal: "There have been no training sessions [since Thursday]. We've had to recover after playing Midtjylland. We couldn't train."

In truth I'd trust Riley's pace and mobility at LB against Bellerin over Carrick at CB against Welbeck.

Perhaps McNair in for Carrick but other than that I think it's best we can manage.

I wonder is it's not going to be Rojo at CB and Blind LB. We could use a little physical presence in the middle.

Probably be like the Chelsea-City game last week: the kids will do well but the senior players will let us down. And Arsenal will hammer us with ease.

    Hope I am wrong.

We are more tactical competent than Arsenal, so I m more confident today. It was hilarious how Arsenal conceded their first goal against Barcelona mid-week; because it was predictable. If we stay compact and limit their chances, we can easily get them of the counter.

wow was really hoping we wouldn't be playing Carrick at the back. Very worrying today

Just can't see how we're going to get anything today.

Really could've done with Smalling and Martial being fit.

I think our top four hopes are already done, but dropped points will rubber stamp it.

Carrick and blind at CB. Better search for the lube, will need it.

For the first time in about 10 years, i'm expecting us to lose at home to Arsenal.

And because of injuries, rather than because of Van Gaal or anything else.

This is hard to call but looking at the line ups I'd back Arsenal to win. Their record at Old Trafford suggests they might bottle it though. I'll go 2-1 Arsenal with Rashford and Welbeck both scoring.

    Romero - 10 apps
    McNair - 25 apps
    Riley - 2 apps
    Fosu-Mensah - 0 apps
    Weir - 0 apps
    Januzaj - 60 apps
    Pereira - 11 apps

108 apps altogether, Januzaj alone taking up more than half of that. Amazing really.

I bet if you added it up for the Arsenal bench against us in the 8-2 it would be about the same. Fabianski and Chamakh were the only established players they had.
