Whereas our alternative back 4 of Varela-Rojo-McNair-Blind looks like a fortress.

Not to mention Blind on the left against Bellerin with Memphis for support is asking for trouble anyway.

If we somehow were to still be in the match after 60 mins we'll struggle with fatigue surely considering the lack of rotation and restitution lately.

He will. I would have had Rojo at CB, Riley at LB and dropped Blind into the midfield with Morgan and Ander, then not played Lingard.

To be fair the first eleven isn't THAT bad. I mean....it's not great by any means but other than Varela and Rashford all these players have been in and around the first team this season. Even Carrick has played centre back a few times previously. I think we will lose but we should (although I've said this many times this season) be able to put up a fight

Obviously the pace of Welbeck and Sanchez against those two centre backs is a concern but, we're not exactly spoilt for choice. Don't see this ending very well for us at all.

On another note, I remember when we used to play Arsenal, the butterflies and nervous energy you felt the whole day in anticipation for kick off was immense. I struggle to let out a "meh" when we play Arsenal these days. Shame the rivalry has gone

I'm not sure, Carrick is not a CB and more immobile than any of the other options.

No I agree totally, but some people (not you tbf) were going mental over how "stupid" LVG was putting a slow CB pair of Blind-Carrick together as if the alternative wouldn't feck us just as hard.
