    Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Eriksen, Hannibal.
Not in the 21 man squad. All 4 of them last year contracts with no +1 option.
A signal for them to step up search for a new club?
Been no secret that we are trying to get AWB off the wage bill so we can makes some additional signings. Looks like the West Ham deal could happen soon now since he isn’t in the squad. Hannibal has been linked with both Celtic & Rangers up here in Scotland so maybe might be negotiating with either of these teams. Eriksen & Lindelof - I have no idea about as they haven’t really been linked with anyone else in this window?

Other than all that… they probs will be injured judging by our luck on this front

They will take it less seriously. They have some important players missing too and haven’t won the community shield for 4 years.
Yeah that’s how I feel and honestly I’m not particularly excited by the fixture

Not really bothered about the result as it’ll be a bonus more than anything. Mainly just want us to play well and come through the game unscathed. I’ll be more pissed off if we won but picked up a few injuries to key players in the process.

Reckon Shitty will be up for this and want to put us back in our place after what happened in May.

Expect us to play the usual chaos ball, pump it long, yet concede at least 2 or 3. ETH will put his usual spin on things in the post-match presser.

All I want from us is to see some belief, hard work, and progression when keeping the ball, regardless of the team he puts out. I reckon hard work is the only thing we might put in though. No injuries would be an obv plus too.

Two days ago, ETH said that Shaw, AWB, Lindelof and Maguire were all question marks for the city game as they carry some small injuries.

    From Eurosport. com:

"Harry Maguire missed the game [against Liverpool] - a precaution but is still a question mark for Saturday," said Ten Hag.
"So we have training; we have to see whether he is fit enough or not to be available.
"Victor [Lindelof] played but also he's a question mark and also Azza [Aaron Wan-Bissaka] and Luke Shaw are both question marks, we have to assess them [on Friday].

Why isnt Pellistri also not out then? He should definitely be sold. Baffling.

Sure, if City can win the game, while not doing anything daft to achieve it, they will go all out to do it but it really is no big deal to Guardiola.
He looks at the season as a whole in his planning and this has a fairly low priority.

The fans are a different matter, though.
They are still salty about losing the chance of doing a unique ''double double" especially as it's no secret that the players had over celebrated the PL win a few days prior.
To win this, particularly with a good number of Academy products on the pitch, would be sweet.

City will play all the reserves here because they don’t care. I excpect Kalvin Phillips at CB.

Yeah, I know about the quotes and injuries, but still interesting regarding contracts.

It doesn’t feel like he’s in a position to sell multiple defenders atm. Not midfielders either.

Heading to the game. Just realised it'll be my first United game since I had to give up on my season ticket... which was SAF's last game :wenger:

Starting XI: Onana - Dalot, Maguire, Evans, Amass - Collyer, Casemiro; Amad, Mount, Sancho - Rashford

Bench: Bayindir, Martinez, McTominay, Mainoo, Fernandes, Antony, Garnacho, Pellistri & Zirkzee

We really shouldn't risk Fernandes, Martinez and Mainoo from the start because they have played a lot in the last weeks and are just back in training since a few days.......Dalot was underway with Portugal too but he was mainly on the bench.

    Collyer must start over McTominay!!!!

Don’t think Pep takes the Community Shield very seriously ….only won twice 2018, 2019

    Good chance for Utd

I love a great positive post

If there was ever a time to have to give up your season ticket, you picked a good one!

Pep fielded a very strong team last year against Arsenal.
KDB and Foden were on the bench, but they entered the game in the second half

Of course, today could be different, their players were also on international duty.

Wondering if we see the same sort of 4-2-2-2 setup that worked so well against City in the FA Cup final?
Its a glorified friendly but would be nice winning that game.

    Maybe something like:

    Onana

    Amass
    Martinez
    Evans / Maguire
    Dalot

    Mctominay / Collyer
    Casemiro

    Rashford
    Amad

    Sancho
    Mount

Bruno up top. Mount at 10. I like that.

    Maguire-Evans, not so much.

Left back? Interesting. He has the skillet to play as a left back, especially if he inverts into midfield but I'd have thought ten Hag would have wanted to keep the balance of a left and right footed player at the back. We saw the importance of having such a combination in the FA Cup final.

Evans and Maguire give that balance.

I don't like the fact that left back means even more running for him when he's just returned to training. Just hoping to come out of this one without any injuries going into the season. Last thing we need to do is lose Martinez for a string of games out of the block.

id think it may be a case of Dalot gets forward and the other 3 shift over. So we get the extra man in midfield and keep a back 3

Yeah. Similar to the FA Cup final. Worked well with Bruno drop deep and McTominay running in behind. Mount will be tasked with the same thing. Despite not scoring on pre season tour, he's looked sharp and I'm backing him to grab a goal today.

I've not seen the team yet, but I'd have liked to see Maguire and Martinez at centre back, with Dalot and Amass at full back. I guess ten Hag doesn't trust Amass off the ball. He's made a few defensive errors which is to be expected.

    Sounds like:

    Onana

    Dalot
    Maguire
    Evans
    Martinez

    Mainoo
    Casemiro

    Amad
    Rashford

    Bruno/Zirkzee
    Mount

I don't think he'll be expected to overlap. He'll probably be pulling into LCB when the ball is in their half.
