    Evans is both footed

Every professional footballer should be both footed. My point is, he's stronger on his right foot and we saw hpw much of a difference Martinez made in the FA Cup final, to a point where Pep said, Lisandro Martínez is top 5 centre- backs in the world”. “He made the difference on this game by playing passes through our defence”.

Are we planning to use Bruno as a false 9 for this season? Not sure how I feel about that in the long term

I doubt we'll see it in the long term, but possibly as an option for some big games.

We already used him as a false #9 against City last season, and obviously ETH's Ajax did something similar in European games with Tadic as the false #9 and VDB operating behind.

Good to have the option to mix things up, I suppose.

My biggest worries are that none of Maguire, Martinez and Evans is fit to play 90 minutes, but there will not be enough subs for all of them. Actually not even for one of them…

Probably not, Zirkzee just not quite ready.
Well he should be. I'd be concerned if the reason for him not starting is due to fitness, considering Licha, Mainoo and Bruno are all in the same situation and are deemed fit to start. Zirkzee has the most to prove out of all those

Was hoping Mainoo would have got a longer rest after the Euro. Hope EtH will give him rest during the season.

So many players for us straight into the first team without even a minute of pre season. Always nervous when that happens.

Starting the returning players straight away is a worry tbh.

You'd like to think its a overreaction from the fans to think that, but after last season I just don't trust any of the medical department.

Hopefully they are all off at half-time.

No a big deal for me. Players are ultra professional now and most of them train through the summer when off anyway.

    Looks like a diamond.
If we're going off how ten Hag set up on the pre season tour, I think we'll see:

    Off the ball:

    Onana
    Dalor Evans Maguire Martinez
    Amad Casemiro Mainoo Rashford
    Mount Bruno

    On the ball:

    Onana
    Evans Maguire Martinez
    Casemiro
    Dalot Amad Mount Mainoo Rashford
    Bruno

Evans actually is though. One of the most two-footed players in the league and natural on both sides. He will be fine.

I think its a very beatable team. Only players we should slightly fear are Doku and Haaland.
I wouldn't discount Bobb. He had a great pre-season, probably better than Amad and City fans must be hoping he's about to have his breakthrough season similar to us with Amad.

Great feet and could cross with either of them. He's looked a right menace to defend.

Its why it's crucial to get in 2 midfielders (proper ones, not blokes who ETH thinks can play there like Mount or Bruno).

Yeah, I think every player should be comfortable on both feet. Obviously one side will generally always be stronger, but they should be able to play off both feet.

You're right, and it is worrying, especially with our injury record. However, in order to get up to match fitness, they will need to play, regardless as to whether they start or not.

On paper, you would expect United to start stronger and city may finish stronger after subs and they bring on more experienced players.

No injuries and a solid display is what I want from today.

I have no issue with it for specific games but I do hope that we've not decided to push him there permanently to shoehorn Mount into the team

I have no doubt he'll be fine. I thought he exceeded expectations last season. I'm just saying I'd prefer Martinez there. However, now that I understand Amass is most likely injured, that's pretty much the only back four ten Hag could have gone with.

Evans could play left-back. Doesn’t have the pace anymore but has done so plenty of times in the past.

Will push Casemiro there half time
I think you are right, especially since he played 90 min vs Liverpool. Anyways, that’s just for one of the three. And Maguire was tested as late as yesterday if he was fit enough from his injury. It’s far from ideal. Let’s hope for no injuries.

They do count for something for youngsters looking to impress. And both of them have impressed.
You can't draw a lot of conclusions from pre-season performances. Players have to do it and translate it in actual games to be impressive

Mount in that midfield will help Casemiro more than Bruno IMO (in terms of defensive balance and covering for Casemiro). Let's hope.

How long before Sancho kicks off for never getting a look in? Will be behind Garnacho and Zirkzee for a front 3 sub even with Hojlund out. He's basically 7th choice front 3 player at this point.

Whoever wins the Community Shield tends to not win the league. Guess we'll win this game then

I always felt it kind of takes a few weeks to end of August, maybe even start of sept before you get a decent idea of where you are at. You regularly see surprises first few league games.

I mean, it’s not nice seeing us lose games even if they are friendlies, but I mean who cares about todays game if we beat Fulham next week?
