Fouls deep in the opposition half to snuff out counter attacks are a crucial part of Guardiola's defensive strategy. Was the same at Bayern and Barca (where they always topped the relevant stats).

If you foul players deep in their half, you rarely receive yellow cards for it.

One positive is that City look much worse than last season's game, they took us apart for 45 minutes.

Yeah but that's not a tactical issue, it's a personnel issue. We saw this last season as well, as soon as Pogba is out of the team we greatly struggle to create. We're trying to get out of our half but the midfield keeps getting caught out dallying on the ball

Yup. He makes them all look far worse. People think if Pep had them he would just select the same players as Mourinho with the same tactics. Yeah right. With this matchday squad, the tactics, selection and style of play would be radically different and we would look like a top team. Not a doubt in my mind about that. Hes the best manager around and the reason for their dominance. The second he leaves, City will go back to what they were before him. Good, but inconsistent and definitely not dominant.

Is it strange that I feel we have a chance here despite the scoreline? I feel there are opportunities to score if we play the way we did after conceding. Obviously need Herrera to not give the ball away in our own half quite as much.

We knew they were going to have the majority of possession, thats fine. What isnt fine is the amount of time we've given their players on the ball.

All we've done is sit back and allow City to just dominate.

That said, City, apart from the goal, have been quite poor, in my opinion. They've given the ball away quite often from unforced errors and have given us the chance to attack at times.

Going into the second half, i'd go with a 4231. Get Fellaz behind Rashford.
