I got no expectations for tomorrow's game as it is the one game I would have expected to lose when the fixture list was made at the start of the season. So I can go into this one fully enjoying it and have no disappointment if we lose.

All I want tomorrow is a competitive performance and for United not to give away anything soft like we have been doing away from home. Anything else is a bonus.

Interested in how we will set up though. I think Rooney will simply start over Mata but LVG changes his tactics frequently so really not sure what to expect.
Am in full agreement with this. I just don't want us to roll over and let City tickle our bellies. Any result is a (very very excellent) bonus.

If our aim is top 4, tomorrow is definitely not a must win. In fact, I think because of Liverpool and Spurs's form, we already are favourite to finish fourth. If we're talking about winning the title which is an overly optimistic target, I am afraid 13pts behind makes it already a dead end even if it's November.
This side are never going to win the league this season.

Target for me is 3rd. I expect us to lose tomorrow but to put in a competitive performance. Anything we gain is a huge bonus.

City are a better side than us and are usually very good at home.

What a bunch of defeatist nonsense. We're not some small team that got a big away game in the cup, just trying to keep the score respectable is not good enough.
We have some of the most expensive players in the World, on some of the highest wages in football, they should be able to win any match.

We also have not won away from home all season and are playing a better side than us and last season's champions. I expect them to win the game.

How big you perceive United to be does not change the fact that United are currently rebuilding a new side and are playing a better side away from home. That means they are favourites.

Where in my post did I say we should keep the score respectable? I said I expect us to put in a competitive performance and not give away anything soft. Competitive means I expect the game to be close and for us to try and win. Saying I don't want us to give away anything soft means I expect us to have learned from the Leicester, WBA games and the closing 15 minutes against Everton.

I don't expect us to win overall and won't be disappointed if we lose unless we get a complete hammering and don't seem to be progressing, which I think we are after the Chelsea performance.

Whenever I sleep through a Manchester derby we always seem to win. At least it happened the past two times, FA Cup couple years ago and the one with RVP winner. All the ones I've watched from started to finish we lost, starting with the 1-6.

Let's hope this works again. I usually wake up very late in weekends so I might sleep through this one as well. (If this doesn't make sense I live in Eastern Time Zone in US)

8:30 isn't even late! It's basically like 9:30 because the clocks go back an hour. Extra hour of sleep.

We're going to win this and only concede one.

It's going to be a 3-1, with a late goal on the break.

There are only three players who can have a big impact in this game for us.
    Herrera, Rooney and Di Maria.
Others like RvP, Fellaini can play well and consistently in the match but can't be the match winners today. I hope Herrera starts today.

A draw will be a very good away result against a title challenger but somehow I am desperate for a win. It'll take us within a point off third place, which is quite a nice position to be at this stage of the season considering our start. We need ADM to be at his best and the defence to be awake the whole game, though.

Well, at least that has been settled. Any other predictions?

I wouldn't. If West ham and Newcastle can beat them, so can we.
Absolutely! We should be going into this full of confidence and looking to win. Not getting into the defeatist attitude thing - the players and supporters need to cut that out.

last game vs the in-form chelsea we gave up our own play by employing a counter tactic to deny chelsea to play theirs. this game vs a dipping city i think we will go back to square. so a diamond midfield is still my choice this week.

considering fellaini had a very good game against the league leader and he deems to become another big game player, this is reasonably to line him up on the starting 11. i will take a bald move to place him up front to go partner vanPersie. he can do the high press and cover up vanPersie in upfront. he can also help scramble and provide muscle in midfield. rooney to be dropped into the hole behind them. for herrera is not in form because of his rip injury, i think valencia will start this game to partner with diMaria in midfield also. so here is my line up:

ddg, rafael, smalling, rojo, shaw, blind, valencia, diMaria, rooney, fellaini, vanPersie.

I think we'll really miss Falcao today, think his movement would give Mangala (who has looked pretty shaky so far) a lot of trouble, and RVP was poor, for me, against Chelsea last week.

Hopefully Rooney is on form though and Fellaini can do a job on Yaya.. I've certainly got more faith than I had 2 weeks ago.

I don't see how we can miss a player who has featured so infrequently for us.

I didn't watch the Chelsea game, so can't comment on RvP's performance, but he's been widely praised for a much improved performance, with a lot of people saying the goal could prove to be a catalyst.

Part two of the plastic-a-thon....hopefully we can get past this abomination of a former football club and still remember what football actually is afterwards

What I want to happen today:

    City drop points.
Lots of red cards following a mass brawl.
    Juan Mata to score.
    Jessica Alba naked streak.
A drone protest at the premature sacking of David Moyes (drone later found to be controlled by David Moyes).

I'm expecting a midfield diamond of sorts with Blind-Herrera-Di Maria-Fellaini with Rooney and RVP up top.

Can't afford to underestimate City even with their poor run of results but hopefully it gives United players a bit of confidence going into this game.

Don't Want Fellaini starting this one despite his good performance against Chelsea as City use an entirely different approach and will figure out a way to take care of him . Carrick has been training for 2 weeks now and he should be ready to step in. How I wish we had a player like Matic, Strootman or Carvalho today.

Rooney is well capable of dropping into advanced midfield in a Fellaini against Chelsea role and burst forward when needed.

Expecting the worst from this game yet hoping for the best.

If we managed to win this we be in good place for the 4th place. I hope that can managed to scrap something out this game. A draw or a win. But most likly is a lost.
