I expect to see Fellaini start obviously although it ruins our flow game(which was rubbish before he started but now it's destroyed).

    DDG
    Rafael Smalling Rojo Shaw
    Blind
    Fellaini ----- di Maria
    Mata
    van Persie Rooney

Really hope today works out, no Silva for them is brilliant plus a basic lack of form means they are not bursting with confidence , for our part let's face it, we haven't had LVG long enough to go into these big games expecting a positive result. But for the first time in a while I think we can go into this with options. Options that can hurt City. We might not keep a clean sheet but we can definitely score. Too close to call but it should definitely be great game.

Went for a City win, they'll turn their form round today. Don't think our defense will hold out against Aguero.
    Fingers crossed though.

I know there is a certain cliche saying that 'the form book goes out of the window in these fixtures' but if there ever was a time to play City its now. We have already dropped too many points to teams like Burnley, Sunderland and Leicester so we really need to make them back up by getting 3 points today. We need to get some momentum going if we want to get a CL spot and this is the perfect game to do this. I would actually be disappointed if we don't get 3 points today, and I don't care if its ugly because right now we need the points.

    We're winning this lads.

    DDG
    Rafael-Smalling-Rojo-Shaw
    Herrera-Blind-Fellaini-Di Maria
    Rooney
    RVP

Some variation of that formation, but we'll play with this XI.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but our last win against this lot was on the 9th December 2012, that's nearly two years so we are due a win.

Now that Silva has been confirmed out of this one we can play more adventurously. I don't think Lampard will be able to emulate him, I think they will shift Yaya further up the pitch where I think he can be deadly at times. But going by his recent outings he hasn't been able to impose himself like he should, he's more of a ball watcher when not in possession now, he plays as though he can't be arsed, hopefully he doesn't raise his game today. It will be interesting to see how they will line up. Nasri is another one option they can utilize in the Silva spot, but still Silva remains a huge loss for them especially now them needing class and quality to revoke lost confidence after back to back defeats, i don't think anyone in their team can really influence games in the same sense as Silva, it will be very interesting.

What I want to happen today:

A drone protest at the premature sacking of David Moyes (drone later found to be controlled by David Moyes).
    :lol::lol::lol:

You have no idea how much money I would spend to see that happen.

If we can cope with them physically we can more than match them that's my worry.

Love the optimism. That is my team too.

    Fellaini should definitely play.

DDG, Rafael, Smalling, Rojo, Shaw, Blind, Fellaini, Herrera
    Di Maria, Rooney, Van Persie.

Well isn't it great to be looking forward to the big games again? Makes a difference to last season.
Yeah last season, I used to dread the big games. I mostly watched those games alone to avoid the bragging post-match. Happy to go into a big match expecting a good result rather than hoping for a fluke win.

Wasn't the match originally starting later? What happened?
Nope, I don't think so, I remember checking our fixtures about a month ago because of my holiday plans. I'm pretty sure I saw the derby as a 12:30 game.

EDIT: 12:30 Australian time that is

    City fan in peace.

After putting in two of our worst displays in recent memory, I can't say I've much confidence about this one.

The 4-4-2 we're playing just hasn't worked; Fernando and Toure are too limited in their (opposing) phases of play to have formed a solid partnership. Nasri and Jovetic are just back from injury, Silva's obviously out and Dzeko has been more Dzonkey than the lethal striker he was for much of last season.

At the back, I'd hope to see Demichelis (who, contrary to the opinion of people who watch City in passing, has been fantastic for the best part of a year now) start over Mangala. Ditto Kolarov over Clichy, but I think the awful league cup match will dictate the team we see.

In summary, if we play 4-5-1 with the likes of Fernandinho and Milner in the team, then I'd be more hopeful.

Feeling confident but apprehensive at the same time, this could easily be a high scoring 2-3 win for us and just as easily been a 4-0 battering for us if our defence reverts back to how it was playing before the Chelsea game. If Smalling can play like he did against Chelsea and Fellaini has a great game again then we have a good chance. COME ON UNITED!!!

Everyone saying City will be up for this - but so will our lads. Lately it seems we're getting some steel back in our play - and that will serve us well today. Be a hard game, but have every confidence we can win. BELIEVE!

Good post, I'm desperately hoping you play a 442. What happened to Dzeko? He started the season well, right?

We have fantastic players who can win games on their own, we have a terrific keeper and super charged Rooney, and, finally, we have LvG who is one of the best managers in the game. We have a pretty good chance to win this one. Chins up!
