Liverpool commit a massive amount of energy to the first 30mins with that intense press so it's key we're prepared and get through it, their levels drop of substantially after that.

They're an awful side at defending set peices so with Smalling/Schneiderlin/Fellaini I'd like to think we can cause them some serious problems in that department.

Would much rather see Lingard and Martial start in the wide areas over Mata/Depay. In order to beat a narrow press you have to switch the ball quickly and target runs behind the full backs, Martial should be key.

I imagine KlipKlop will have them cantering around us intently for 30 mins, if we can withstand that then who knows.

Game will be over within the first 25 minutes.

This will be Arsenal all over again
Biggest worry is us trying to sit and absorb and getting hit immediately just like that match. Would be pleasantly surprised if we pressed back and tools risks early, when they're on the front foot. If we try to let the game settle first, it could end up too late

    agree

I think we're set up to win this, ironically if we set up to absorb and counter we will win or at least we will be capable of winning. They are going to come out of the blocks like crazy though and i think the first 10/20 minutes are going to be key, if we contain them we stand a chance.

    Liverpool injuries update:

With no Coutinho or Sturridge today a lot rests on the shoulders of Firmino to provide the attacking spark for us. As it stands he reminds me of a more expensive version of Luis Garcia. Frustrates & exasperates for the best part, but will produce a stunner every now & then to keep the wolves at bay.

He needs to be a lot more hero & much less zero.

Don't think they'll blow us away like Arsenal did. Though it's a possiblilty there's a massive difference between Sanchez, Ozil and Walcott with Ibe, Frimino and Milner.

Both pretty inconsistent teams makes it difficult to predict.

It's strange. The match doesn't bother me the way a match against Liverpool normally does and should do.

    Maybe I get sick.

I think there is a chance they could come out of the traps and nick an early goal if they start like they did against Arsenal. Hopefully we can defend better and make some great counter attacks though.

I've fallen into the usual delusion of optimism now. I just think Liverpool are equally as shit.

Agree. The worst 21 in the history of the clubs. Only true World class player on that pitch today is David.

If we can get through the first 30 mins than we have a chance. We know they are going to be really up for it and in our faces for that period but they will eventually tire. There is no way you can play that intensely for the whole match.

I don't know what the lineup will be but I pray Fellaini does not start. I think Lingard and Martial will be on the wings with maybe Herrera as No. 10 and Mata on the bench.

The weather will only be an issue if there's ice around the areas surrounding the stadium making it dangerous for people accessing it.

A win - LVG stays until end of season
Draw - LVG gets more time
Lose - LVG sacked in the next week or two
Lose badly - LVG sacked within 24hours

    Only my opinion of course.

Either way I'm always buzzing for the murderers and I can't wait! 1-2 United in my predictions.

Could we not just have 'A win - LVG sacked within 24hours'?? There's bound to be a red in this game. Just hope we don't hand them the game by going a player down. I also hope Fellaini doesn't start. Just have the feeling this game will have a bit of controversy. My gut is also telling me the Dippers will be the ones smiling come 4pm! :(

Then Fellaini will have to start. The only way he doesn't is if we play Schneiderlin and Herrera in holding midfield which we won't in a game like this.

I know it won't happen but I'd play the same midfield setup as we did there last season. Schneiderlin in Carrick's role, Herrera box to box and Fellaini as a hybrid CAM/Striker/Lampost we can use to beat the press.

Fully expecting Fellani alongside Schneiderlin though which could be very costly in the first half.
