Hope we're prepared to deal with Liverpool coming at us like crazy from the first second. No doubt Klopp will have them well motivated. Our team needs to concentrate on defending well from the off and let them burn up as much energy as possible. Pretty much contain them, and then hopefully catch them out and make something happen on the counter.

We go there with a passive game:rolleyes:, and we're gonna be in some trouble.

A fixture I genuinely love to watch.

I hope you all have a horrible day.

Every man and his dog know full well what Liverpool will try to do. It's how we combat their approach which will be interesting. Martial and Lingard on the wings, Mata behind Rooney, Herrera and Schneiderlin in midfield. Combative, energetic, bit of pace. Don't think he'll risk such an attacking side at Anfield though and I can understand that. Herrera is smart in possession though so he needs to be starting.

Yes this. Will be interesting to see. The boys had better keep their concentration as well. No brainfarts today.

FFS. Looking all over twitter for lineups then realize it doesn't start for two more hours.

Why is it a 14:05 kick off? Sunday games are normally half one aren't they?

Playing Fellaini alongside Schneiderlin in this game is genuinely a sackable defence. It better be a proper three man midfield.

You look down the squad names and pics on the right hand side of this page and think, "Dear me."

FFS Clattenburg is the ref today:mad:

The weather will only be an issue if there's ice around the areas surrounding the stadium making it dangerous for people accessing it.
Probably a stupid qestion but why not throw some sand on icy areas? That's what we do in Norway anyway.

If LvG goes defensive I think Liverpool will struggle. Klopp, I feel, will hope to turn this into an emotional day with open attacking football. That's Liverpool's best chance.

    Agree

Line-up similar to last season, with Schneiderlin in Carrick's place (albeit with limited passing ability in comparison) and I think I'd be a lot happier. There is no need for Herrera to be so advanced, especially if we want to hold onto the ball and make the opposition work.

Least anticipated Utd Liverpool game since Shankly built them up.

Love us to destroy them .But realistically a 1-1 draw seems more likely.

I don't think we have good enough players who can keep the ball when being closed down so much. The only two obvious players are Carrick and Herrera and one of them is injured. Unofortunately, I wouldn't be surprised if Felli was given a start in this game. Everytime they are closed down, they can just pump it to the big man and have an immediate numerical advantage.

Carrick, great distributor that he is, usually struggles quite a bit when pressed IMO. Though that could have had something to do with the static players around him, I don't know.

Yeah, I can see the Fellaini tactic working well, if he is used in the only way he should be used and not as part of a DM double pivot.

Expecting Fellani to play higher up as a release to Liverpools constant pressure. What Pep did when he played Martinez up front when Bayern played Dortmund a few years back.
He has to have a good game today

Rumoured same team as Tuesday. Which reminds me i didn't submit a line up!

Can't wait for this. If Liverpool win, they go level on points with us. If we win, we go six clear. So it's a genuine six pointer.

And given we'll both believe we have a realistic chance of top four, there's actually more riding on it than those years when we were top and they were like sixth or seventh.

Even if you over look the rivalry, it's a big game in its own right.

Yes, a Herrera-Schneiderlind midfield is the pairing most Caftards were crying out for. Fair good chance that it will happen today.
But I disagree with the Carrick part. Even when there are no real options upfront, he still manages to keep the ball decently and opts for a simple sideways or back pass.

    De Gea,
    Young, Smalling, Blind, Darmian,
    Schneiderlin, Fellaini
    Lingard, Herrera, Martial
    Rooney

Aye, keep it unchanged... because things went so well against Newcastle...

If Schneiderlin and Fellaini don't buck up there ideas we're going to get fecked in midfield.

Hasn't Fellaini only had two reds in the PL?

Why do we get this every game with him?? "Fellaini to get sent off"

Need a big performance from Schneiderlin today.
