I think ten hag is a dead man walking and I don't want to scar 18/19/20 year olds by getting battered here or be subject to loads of abuse online. In my head it's literally a free game given what we are right now. I'm not looking at this game like "let's put our best lineup out to give ourselves the best chance"... I'm looking at it like "what players do I not want to scar today".

Of course nobody would ever do that, I'm just saying that's my view on it given how bad we play.

Yeah of course entitled to your thoughts. For me You pick your best team available and that is our best side available. If they go and give it their all they won't get battered.

Anyone giving the young lads hate online is daft and I'm sure these young lads know that.

is it sancho who is the petulant child or the one who insists on “please forgive me Mr. manager pretty pretty please with a cherry on top” ?
Insisting on that is the least he could do after help he got from him just for him to stab him in the back later. I would do much worse than Erik. So yeah, Sancho can feck right off, and his supporters can follow him out too.

I don’t mind McTominay as captain. The other potential would be Shaw but I don’t see him being leader material, seems quite meek.

McTominay wears his heart on his sleeve and has had a decent season so far. I think quite right to give him a go. Nobody else in that lineup is worthy of captaincy in my opinion.

You are right, we will never win anything with kids
It's less a personnel issue and more a (mental) damage limitation issue. Like sending your least important soldiers in first to just take the hits because you don't want to damage your valuable people.

Hopefully McTominay can be our Henderson. Average player, great captain.

hoping for something like the Arsenal game in 2016, players out injured, form a bit patchy and playing a title chasing side, only to secure an unexpected 3 points

You and I have a very different definition of generational talent.
The guy was a key player for a league winning team and CL winning team as a right back setting insane creativity numbers before the age of 22. Come on.

McTominay as captain is a fecking slap in the face to every fan. Bloke shouldn’t be anywhere near this team let alone get to wear the armband. Disgusting:
Not near the team in usual circumstances I agree with, but with injuries and bans, who else plays? That we’d trust.

Then… once he’s in, the captaincy choices are limited? Most managers like a midfielder or CH as captain… can’t give it Amrabat or Maino.

Personally, I’d have given it one of three defenders (not Dalot).

Decent season? Heart on sleeve? He jogs about and is a 4/10 most games, not to add has less touches than almost anyone.

Tbf in the midfield we are missing Bruno, Eriksen and Case so I reckon for any team they would struggle to have 3 backups of good quality. The CBs are insane though, you remove Martinez and we are effectively crippled. Ditto in attack.
Even with those midfielders though, Eriksen isn’t the player he was, arguably the same with Casemiro. Bruno is a miss but it will be interesting to see how we get on without him.

it’s going to be hilarious if Sanch outlasts Ten Hag at this club

Sure and normally I'd agree... The exceptions were the 21/22 waste of time season and this one now also being a waste of time season basically.

I can trust them to work their ass off and perform well. Can you trust the others around them to not let them down and not make them look bad?

And unfortunately, we have a ton of idiot fans online and as young people, it's not always easy to ignore.

Who cares, if that happens, any next common sense manager will get rid of him straight away, no one likes slackers, and Sancho is a definition of that word.

Very insulting to Henderson to mention Mctominay in the same sentence. Henderson offered so much more than Mctominay will ever offer to amy team.

Correct, but I don't think that qualifies him as a generational talent. Nowhere near.

    Pretty mad, to be fair.

No part of our team is elite and Liverpool are back

Hmm, are they really though? I feel like the Liverpool rebuild isn’t really finished and their current team is inferior to the title/CL winning one.

No issue with McTominay been named captain , we are not exactly overflowing with leaders and strong characters in the squad. And in that regard he is as good as what we have available.

I think we'll do OK today come on guys less negativity please makes me nervous reading it!!

    Good point.

ten hag is the slacker. Same tactics all season even though they arent working. That’s quite lazy to me. Cant even be bothered to cook up an alternative.

I am going to stay up and watch this while in the air. Come on guys. Liverpool vs United. You just can't miss this no matter how bad it gets. We have a new era dawning soon with the takeover. Just tough it out.
