I know we’ve got injuries but our squad absolutely stinks.
Am I mad for thinking we have half a chance?
I think having an actual midfield three, on paper at least, will give us a semblance of balance. Sit deep, scrap, and play on the counter with the front 3, with the occasional late run from McTominay. It has the ingredients for a scrappy away win.
In reality though I expect we'll see McTominay far too high up the pitch (by instruction, not even really his fault).
Would have preferred AWB in for Dalot as I think he'd be a better match up for Diaz but no complaints otherwise
Which is still less than a lot of our players this season so whats the problem? And someone who goes missing halve the games he plays.
Don't like that Mainoo, Garnacho or Hojlund are in. Don't think it's fair on them to be a big part of what is about to happen...
Really hope I'm wrong, but I'm dreading it.
-childish snort-Concern with this team is if we get the ball, how do we get it to the front players. Can see them being isolated and coming v deep
Yes, because Sancho is a petulant child.
I think ten hag is a dead man walking and I don't want to scar 18/19/20 year olds by getting battered here or be subject to loads of abuse online. In my head it's literally a free game given what we are right now. I'm not looking at this game like "let's put our best lineup out to give ourselves the best chance"... I'm looking at it like "what players do I not want to scar today".Why? they are part of the squad. Good players and they have to step up when needed. If they aren't capable of playing in these games what's the point of having them?
Haters will always hate no matter what.the meltdown over captain choice is hilarious. We have how many players missing, including other captain choices. If rumours are believed varane and ten hag arent settled behind the scenes, and mctominay is one of a few players coming through recent weeks with a semblance of credit. Its one game with probably the first 5 choices in captain missing. Plenty moaning were probably calling for shaw to never play for united again after his performance here last season.
Calm down you lunatics.
We keep it tight with Mainoo and Amrabat, and just use Garnacho and Hojlund pace for counter attacks, anything else and we get thumped
they could go with Florence Nightingale, Eleanor Roosevelt and Tiny Tim - by the time they come on it'll be 4-0
That’s what I meant, there may be small difference in quality but Liverpool are hardly lining up like galactico Madrid and nowhere near the player quality they had when they won the league.I'm whatever about Gravenberch still, and Endo is average. But our midfield is Amrabat who is average, McTominay who we all know what he is and isn't, and Mainoo who tbf is an elite talent but has played 2 games.
Endo and Amrabat I put on the same level, hell even Gravenberch and Mainoo I don't think there is actually much in it. Szboszlai is class though.
TAA is a generational talent, let's not kid ourselves there. Van Dijk was world class who had an ACL injury so took a while to get back in form like Vidic did in 2010 or whatever. Not what he was, still quality, still better than current day Varane and our other CB is Evans...
Darwin is a constant threat in games, he's not amazing but he is capable of being an excellent player. I think Hojlund has huge potential but he's not there yet.
Starting 11 wise there is a lot in it. But yes tactics will exacerbate that. It's not 7-0 difference. We should be able to be competitive in these games. But the lineup is pretty much mid table level today, something like Brentford or Crystal Palace level.
Michael Oliver is going to see to any plans we have of winning the physical game.its a pretty physical team on paper. plenty of hard workers too. Hoping that at the very least we wont see another meltdown
Are those players really that much better than ours? Like thrashing better? I don’t think so

is it sancho who is the petulant child or the one who insists on “please forgive me Mr. manager pretty pretty please with a cherry on top” ?
Both are high energy and good midfielders but neither are pure defensive midfielders. Amrabat you could make a case for but Mainoo being a DM is a complete misnomer. We keep it tight with Mainoo and Amrabat, and just use Garnacho and Hojlund pace for counter attacks, anything else and we get thumped
I don't usually bet but doing a little build a bet, so I at least get financially compensated if we get destroyed to slightly lessen my anger
So far got a red for us, Nunez to score at any time and stuck if I put them as scoring 4 or 5
Exactly!Michael Oliver is going to see to any plans we have of winning the physical game.
Other teams stop them: we have to disciplined on the field. And focused, hopefully we won’t concede another goal from a cross because the full backs are asleep.Who is going to do that ? We don't have Bruno to provide that killer pass. We don't have the defence or midfield to shut them out. We don't have a shot stopper like prime DDG to help either.
This is the fanbase. To many youngsters and to many haters.its insane. all the green smileys and freaking out as if theres some clearly obvious alternative. Fernandes, Martinez, Casemiro, Lindelof, Maguire would all be candidates. All are missing. So its with the player who's been at the club the longest and who has delivered in much needed moments this season. People acting like he's named Fred the Red captain. Just anything for a meltdown

Agreed. Still, I'm strangely optimistic here...10/11 i had AWB in for Dalot.
Not sure why AWB isnt playing, hes twice the defender Dalot is.
