We were usually shite at Anfield under Sir Alex, under Moyes, under Mourinho, under Ole, and under Rangnick. And though Van Gaal gave us Juanfield, we played awful in the other two games we played there under him. Though admittedly we won one of them so there's that.

All sorts of managers failed to 'crack the code' and actually play well at Anfield. A draw would be excellent.
Liverpool don’t really beat us that often. It seems lopsided because of our shit period Under Ole and Rangnick but it’s something like 8 defeats to them in last 24 odd games with 4/5 of them coming in that shot period when everybody was beating us
Nobody is beating us now so let’s see what happens
It’s madness to take draws against Liverpool when the maths suggest it’s the least we should expect

I usually have a bad feeling about these lot at anfield, but I think we're gonna batter them today for some reason. I can feel it

    DDG
    AWB - Varane - Martinez - Shaw
    Casemiro - Fred
    Antony - Bruno - Rashford
    Weghorst

That’s a bit harsh, I’d probably have Dalot in for AWB.

So possibly no Varane and Shaw. My slight optimism is in danger. Lucky Pool!

They didn't look good in that first half v Leicester game though. They got better in 2nd half.
Agree somewhat with that however I thought it was mainly midfield and RB that failed in first half, and that spilled over to Martinez and Lindelof. Second half was imo the best we’ve seen from a CB pair playing without Casemiro this season.

It’s funny how the combined 11s by the media last season had pretty much 10/11 Liverpool players. Now that they’re shite and we’re decent they’re still looking at the pool players through their old form. Our underperforming players were completely written off.

Allison is a definite and maybe Salah because of his output despite playing pretty poorly. Trent being included in so many is laughable. If he wasn’t English you’d bet your arse pundits would be all over his shitness (the way they were with Martinez before he’d even kicked a ball).

Nunez is lucky - reflective of the fact that neither team have a great #9. Varane is unlucky, but one of him, Martinez and Van Dijk would be if you only go with two.

If you're going with getting the 'best' XI in there, then maybe go with a 5-3-2 with Varane, Martinez, and Van Dijk all CB's and Salah and Rashford up top and just ignore the #9 options.

Weghorst doesn’t score either but does a lot more in open play than Nunez.
Nunez being a shit striker has been normalised and it’s hilarious

Nail on the head. If we find a top striker this summer, no way would this be the case of Nunez being in there.

    DDG
Steve Nicol - Van Dyk - Martinez - Shaw
    Casemiro - Second Half Fred
    Mcmanaman - Bruno - Rashford
    Ryan Babel

Combined current United - all-time Liverpool XI

Anyone else hearing that Varane is injured? Makes me even less confident...

Henderson or that other unbearable cnut Robertson will probably score for them.

So many of my United pals are bullish and really quite confident about today.

I can't say I share that view. Liverpool are nothing like as bad as people are making out...and we tend to give teams more chances than I'm comfortable with!

I think both teams really are capable of getting at each other.

Us getting a result might depend on varane's fitness to a significant extent. The guy is such a leader in defence and helps keep it all together. Without him in the team, it lacks big game experience in defence as ddg is not exactly leading anything

It's Liverpool after all, so you just know both Varane and Shaw are out

Now if Ten Hag can win this, the club should start drawing up the plans for the statue.

That being said, if someone offered me a draw, I'd take it. We don't win at Anfield.

I'm expecting a Liverpool win, however. Their players can kill on the pitch and they will get a yellow at most.

I'm not confident at all, and not because I don't have faith in this team. Even when we were utterly dominant this was a hard game.

    Let's go back to August

United had lost to Brighton and Brentford, with Liverpool next

I reckoned United would win that, and I didn't bother reading much on here

It's Anfield. Don't know why people are saying we would get a result. The crowd and players would be up for it.

Havent been as positive about a match at Anfield in a long time. Mostly because of Casemiro and Rashford, but I think Antony will be of good use in a match like this.

Everything can happen but they’re there for the taking if we can just control their right side with Trent and Salah. But yeah the crowd will probably influence their game massively.

If we do get beat today, not the end of the world. Wel still be 7 points ahead of them and comfortable favourites for 3rd.

Good results too with Spuds and Newcastle losing
