If he came out and said stopping them is motivation he'd get slaughtered on here.

Everyone would be moaning about how far we've fallen, that the captain of Manchester United can only find motivation in stopping Liverpool from achieveing success.

So a person can only pick one of them to say? He can’t say everything in all together?

You can add Ronaldo to this list also now. It’s going to be a fecking bloodbath.

I have an idea. Maybe we make sure it's a bloodbath. Aka, play dirty. Get the worst criminals and dirtbags we have in the side.
    Grant
AWB Maguire (accidentally hurts people all the time, ask pogba) Jones, Shaw
Pogba McTominay (i dont care if he's injured - pashun) Charlie Savage (becos of name)
Lingard Rashford Shoretire (he will retire Salah)

Wouldn't even trust this lot to be able to kick a few people and attempt to bait a few cards and a scrappy game. Herrera, Rojo and Fellaini were the last we had that could even do that.

Fans are not the most important thing in football? Yes I’m being serious, fans should be the most important thing in football.
Players biggest motivators should be their will to win the game in front of them. Obviously the fans are a factor when you're at that level but it's crazy to say "their main motivation should be for the fans"; otherwise what motivates a Sunday league player? It's about winning, for the individual, for the team, it's always about winning.

Really hope we can take points of these lot tomorrow

I expect it to be ‘’part of it’’. It’s bizarre that something for the fans cannot be part of it. The quote says it’s not even part of it.

I was at that match with three other United mates. We sat on the front row amongst Liverpool supporters and jumped up and cheered like mad when Strachan scored the equaliser. Wouldn’t dream of doing that these days! Maybe we were just young and fearless!

nice. I was 13 years old listened to it on my Sony Walkman with built in radio. It was on BBC radio 2 and I think Alan Green was commentating. It was a bank holiday as I recall and I was out with my family at some castle. Made a lot of people look at me when United equalised and I shouted get in at the top of my voice

Not sure I can put myself through it , WhatsApp group definitely going on mute , all my mates except one are scousers, I might get drunk so I don’t care as much

Then you have completely misread the quote. He says stopping the quadruple isn't a part of the players motivation, but that winning at Anfield for the club and the fans, is part of the motivation. So don't worry, Harry's got you in his thoughts.

Nope, I haven’t completely miss the quote. I think you are the one who completely miss my point. Liverpool are man united biggest rival, them winning quadruple will be something the fans hate the most. If he understands how much Man United fans hate it, he should be considered it as part of it. I was expecting you to understand it.

I'm worried now, I was expecting that could be used as an extra motivation but it's not even part of it. Does he not understand that Liverpool is Man United biggest rival which something the fans hate more than anything if Liverpool win quadruple?

Well it would appear in thinking you misunderstood it I was giving you far too much credit then because frankly that is completely ridiculous and would be an incredibly small time thing for the captain of any football club to come out and say - certainly before the game. He's said nothing at all wrong in that quote and you're just looking for something to critique.

The fella doesn't understand or know how to play a captains role with some leadership in the team by defending well himself or organising the defence.

Living in the States, and in RDU North Carolina specifically I absolutely adore college basketball. This year, the Heels played like shite to be honest. Post season was a loss away at points. Going into Duke at home on coach K’s last game… nobody gave us a chance against a much better Duke team. We beat that arse, and sent k out with a home loss.
3 weeks later in the ncaa championship semifinals.. UNC and duke meet again… surely UNC isn’t going to do it again… but they do, and not many gave them a chance.
United are playing with house money and I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to see Liverpool come out flat or better yet.. too hyped and if we execute we have a shot.
Also, if we beat them, they can kiss the quadruple goodbye.
    United 2 - Liverpool 1

Just looking for something to critique? That’s non-sense.

On page 6 right at the top of the page, you can see exactly my quote about if players care about the fans, they should be more motivated to stop Liverpool’s chance to win quadruple. That was more than 6 hours before the tweet of the Maguire’s quote came out.

I have been consistent about it so of course I’m not going to change my opinion about it after I read Maguire‘s quote and of course it’s not about me looking for something to critique but that’s exactly what I wanted and what I expected if players care about the fans. I thought you would understand but it seems Liverpool winning quadruple wouldn’t hurt you at all huh?

Well, we watch sports because it is unscripted and anything can happen. One can only pray to whatever gods will listen that this will be one of those days.

11pm game here and we fasting, so have to get up early. Definitely giving it a miss. It’s going to be meme-worthy embarrassing

I honestly feel we will get a draw in this game. Then feck it all up and get hammered by arsenal.

It shows how far we’ve fallen that those three would massively improve us. Say what you want about Fellaini’s skill level, but he gave 100% every time and felt playing for United was an honor. Fellaini has more heart and soul than half our current team, as much as it pained me to see him start.

Haha I love it. Only problem is we aren’t playing with house money, we got CL football on the line. Also if UNC loses to Duke, its not the end of the world. Even with a poor United side, if we lose, its a global story. The pressure is just different and 1000% the players feel it.

Imagine the scenes if we manage a lucky win against Liverpool but still lose our other games and miss out on Top 4.

Ironically, Ronaldo being out and being forced to play Rashford up front could be a blessing in disguise.

Yes I know Rashford is in horrific form, but one thing that is absolutely certain in this game is that Liverpool will play with a very high line which they do in every single game, even against Man City.

There is no game this season where Rashford would play against a higher line than this one. Even when you are in terrible form, it just takes one through ball to beat the offside trap and a player with pace can end up with a straight forward chance. Rashford has really struggled against deep lying teams. He won’t have that problem in this game. I know it’s wishful but I honestly think Rashford would possibly pose more of a threat than Ronaldo in this specific game. With Sancho and Elanga on the wings, it really could give us some hope on the counter. It’s one of the reasons Dan James, Rashford and Martial used to have success in games against Liverpool and City. Players with pace just love to have lots of space to run into.

Most important area of the team will be central midfield where we are likely to play Matic and Pogba. That is a very big concern.

    I agree. I believe we'll play

Matic, Pogba, Bruno, Elanga (Lingard), Jadon and Rash. Rash is in terrible form but he tends to score in big games. Give him one proper chance and he can be the man. Ideal scenario 87th minute, a through ball to him, foul, he scores from a penalty and celebrates in a Ronaldoesque manner.
Hey, a desperate fan is allowed to dream

I even think Mata will be involved in this at certain point

I just got a warning in my line-up predictor that I am selecting 6 defenders. :)

Reckon we'll put 5 past them with Maguire and Co becoming impenetrable forces.

    Easy win.

It’s going to be Mo Salah vs Alex Telles. For 90 minutes. Dear lord have mercy.

Appreciate your optimism. I really do.

Your post also reminds me of that Karius post on RAWK before the Real Madrid final where they claimed that he was the best GK in the world.

Just give your all you fekers. Play for Ronaldo and his baby boy, dont come out there like sheep for slaughter.

If they cant motivate themselves for Anfield they should all just leave the club. We might get destroyed, we likely will but just leave your heart out there at least.
