Absolutely be as compact as possible, no spaces, they play high, and we just need to just play old fashioned kick and chase, as long as the balls over there high line are contested by either I'd go for Sancho, Rashfords pace. Then keep compact no space

On the page 6 right at the top of the page, I made a statement about hoping the player will use the intention of stopping Liverpool from winning quadruple as a motivation. I'm sure the fans expect our players to try get something to stop Liverpool from winning quadruple not otherwise.

That quote is much worse than saying stopping Liverpool from quadruple which shows players don't care about the fans or may be he's just clueless about Liverpool being our most rival in the country and the fans hate them with passion.
Players will never say anything about extra motivation to stop opponents etc. It's very rare they get involved verbally with rivalries and always mention the 3 points to aid us rather than stop the another team. Nobody would be making a fuss if Ronaldo said what he said.

Has he gap ever been wider between the clubs in terms of quality of the teams.

This match almost has the feel of a premier league club against a league one club.

Over the years when one of the clubs was at the top and the other struggling the struggling club still always managed to make these games competitive.

It just does not seem this Utd team is capable of been competitive against any good team , this looks like another embarrassing blood bath on the way.

I have my doubts about the wisdom of playing Pogba for this one. He's out of form, his fitness is still poor and we have two more beatable opponents (relatively speaking), coming up over the following nine days.

He played reasonabally well vs Norwich first half. I think he should play he is the only one in the midfield who can break the lines and play balls in behind. If we setup on the counter he is a key player. Drop Bruno to the bench

Even in the 90s and 00s when we were miles ahead of Liverpool, these games were always close as the rivalry dictated it. Just don’t see how we can compete with them tomorrow not helped by half our team missing for various reasons (not that it makes much difference in reality this season).

Yeah the losses of these players doesn't seem to matter this season

    Yeah options are somewhat limited
Fergie would start someone random like Jones. Our managers are so unimaginative these days and just play players they already know wont do the job needed

Last season we probably should have won this match, lets hope for a similar performance.

Not the greatest time to win the away ballot i'm expecting to be on my way home by 8:45 tbh

    What would you do
Personally I would play one of Jones or Lindelof in midfield and have them sit infront of the back 4.
I would play Pogba and drop Bruno. I would play on the counter and try to exploit pools high line with Pogbas passing.

Probably lose anyway but at least we should try to have a conhesive plan and play players that will follow said instruction

    1-1
Battered for 90 mins, De Gea and MaGuire have worldies, Bruno penalty, boys lift themselves for Ronnie……

Remember Phil playing there a few times around 2014

I remember we have no DMs in the squad except Matic who is on his last legs and wouldnt be able to cope with pools agility in midfield. So you have to be creative, if it doesnt work it doesnt work

Yeah I worry about Matic against Fabinho & Thiago

Bruno might be headless, but he works at least. Why play pogba ahead of him?

I'd play Jones, worth a shot

Because Bruno is a liability and keeps giving the ball away and breaking down our attacks. He also lacks tactical dicipline and runs around like a headless chicken. Thats not what we need.

Need to channel the 1980's United spirit here. Robson, Hughes, Whiteside, McGrath, Strachan. Get a 3-3 draw.
I was at that match with three other United mates. We sat on the front row amongst Liverpool supporters and jumped up and cheered like mad when Strachan scored the equaliser. Wouldn’t dream of doing that these days! Maybe we were just young and fearless!

Pogba gives the ball away constantly, is a far bigger liability and doesn't run at all. We don't need that. Can't wait to see pogba do his usual stand on the ball near his own penalty area trying to fend opposition off, give ball away in really dangerous area leading to a chance.

Bruno can be very bad at times, but he's also our most creative player, someone who can literally make something out of nothing and is a goal threat. He also cares about the club.

I'm worried now, I was expecting that could be used as an extra motivation but it's not even part of it. Does he not understand that Liverpool is Man United biggest rival which something the fans hate more than anything if Liverpool win quadruple?

Ye ye that's all fine, of course he understands. But main motivation is to win the game and give us a good chance of top 4, for our own benefit, not a small club mentality of being an annoyance for another team.

I don't recall ever seeing something like this on the forum

    —————De Gea————

    AWB Lindelof Maguire Telles

    ——Lingard Matic Bruno——

    —Elanga——Rashford —-Sancho

    Hard working but positive football.
This is as close as it can be.

This is going to be painful to watch.
Anyone betting on a worst result than the 5-0 defeat at OT?

He's a drip and an embarrassment, but there's nothing at all wrong with what he's said there.

If he wasn’t asked sure, but he was asked the question specifically, thus, he should answer it that it is part of the motivation of the team as the rivalry.

This is the problem though. The players don’t understand about the fans. The main motivation should be for the fans not for themselves.

If he came out and said stopping them is motivation he'd get slaughtered on here.

Everyone would be moaning about how far we've fallen, that the captain of Manchester United can only find motivation in stopping Liverpool from achieveing success.

And then you woke up. We will be 2-0 down before the half hour mark.

Not a cat in hells chance we are coming away with any PTS. This team doesn't have the spirit and fight required to get anything at Anfield.

How can anyone have any hope for this is beyond me. This is without doubt the most one sided version of this fixture that I can remember. I will be happy if we don’t get embarrassed but I am pretty sure we will.
