If the players care about the fans, they should be more motivated to stop Liverpool's chance to win quadruple by getting at least a point in this match. Of course, I highly doubt they care about us. Liverpool win quadruple won't hurt them at all but only the fans.

Yeah the old Utd would go there and throw their bodies on the line to stop the scousers

Whilst no doubt the advantage is unfortunately a bit slim-

How beautiful would it be to destroy their quadruple chances because of us

Trying to figure out which defense will leak the least amount of goals. Telles was awful against Norwich. Do we bring AWB back and shift Dalot to LB? Play 3 at the back?

I would definitely take our chances with Dalot vs Salah over Telles.

Need to channel the 1980's United spirit here. Robson, Hughes, Whiteside, McGrath, Strachan. Get a 3-3 draw.

Too bad we only have one player (Ronaldo) with the personality and care for playing for United like those legends had.

Maybe try Telles as a right sided inverted winger?

Yes that's how desperate I am to find something that might work

Ralf letting the hierarchy know that some of our squad need shown the door.

I'd be inclined to go with a back 5, to try and limit the amount of space Salah and Mane have to operate in, and to stop them from destroying us in the channels.

Get Dalot and Telles to drop off when we don't have the ball, and get them to join the 3 in midfield on the rare occasion we do. Although this is going to need to be a counter attacking masterclass if we want to get anything other than a hiding out of this game

    -----------------------De Gea------------------
    ---------AWB------Lindelof----Maguire------
    Dalot----------------------------------------Telles
    --------Mctominay----Bruno---Fred---------
    ---------------Elanga------Ronaldo------------

Fred and mctominay are still out.

How does Liverpool generally perform against teams that plays with wingbacks? What is their way around it?
I think they’d struggle a little bit because most of there creativity comes from there full backs. If we can stop them from crossing it then they’ll have to find another way of scoring.

This is why I'm fine with him as caretaker. He's got no problem calling out where the issues are. Really hope he influences things when he moves upstairs.

    Prediction
    Liverpool 2 - 0 United

    So,
    19 players vs 11 players
    0-2

    That would be about right.

Mcfred being out is a blow in these kind of games. Will it be matic and pogba shielding the defence or will lindelof or Jones move into midfield? Personally I would go 5 at the back, not sure how RR will line us up here. If we go 4 at the back we will get murdered by there Full backs as our wingers aren't exactly known for tracking back.

    De gea
    Bailly Maguire Varane
    A.W.B lindelof Matic Telles
    Rashford Pogba Elanga
Sit back, soak up pressure have rashford and elanga running inbehing there full backs with pogba as a false 9 almost target man role. Man Mark there front there with our back three, man Mark there full backs with our wingbacks force them to go through the middle if we can, don't let them build attacks down the wings. Avoid playing out from the back in the first 25 mins of both halves when they will have maximum pressure on. Go direct in behind there full backs or into pogba. And above all else hope for a bit of luck.

United the most error prone side in the top half of the Premier league v Liverpool who feed off errors more than any other top 4 team.

Let's be honest it won't be pretty lads, keeping the scoreline somewhat respectable is the only hope I have.

I don't normally do lineups these days because it almost doesn't matter; we end up being shite regardless.

    De Gea
    Maggy Bailly Lind
    Dalot------------------------Telles
    Matic
    Mata-------------Bruno

    Sancho Ronaldo

Robson, Whiteside and McGrath would all be out injured. As would Moses.

The more things change, the more they stay the same

Just re-watched United vs Liverpool 1999 at Anfield and Liverpool absolutely sucked that year (finished 7th) but they were really up for it that night to stop our treble charge. The effort they put in to stop us was very evident (with massive help from the referee too).

Even if we lose just put some effort into it, please!

    McFred and Varane are out.

    De Gea

    AWB Lindelof Maguire Dalot

    Lingard Jones Matic

    Bruno Ronaldo Sancho

Jones to be recalled only because we can guarantee he’ll put a shift in.

We are down to the bare bones, I would think Klopp will use this as a chance to rest a few players.
I don't think he will. Win, and they go top for the first time in months, albeit they'll have played a game more. It puts huge pressure on City, and they're not playing again until Sunday, at home to Everton.

I'm sure they've stocked up on inhalers just incase

A win would be epic in an awful season for us. 93 minute cheap Ronaldo pen would do and he takes off his shirt in celebration and get a second yellow on top of it.
Or a 94 minute Maguire header.

We would still have Wilkins, Muhren and Garth Crooks.
True, though I think Strachan replaced Wilkins.

It's a sad fact that so many key United players around then were shockingly injury prone. It's not really surprising that a drinking culture developed in the weeks of enforced idleness.

I know what you mean but I think he could rest say Mane, Robertson, Jota and a midfielder against us and still win then rest Salah, Arnold, Firminho and a different midfielder and comfortably beat Everton. It is a sad state of affairs. We are going to have to start Matic who can`t play the 90, Pogba who will be off in the summer as well as no doubt give Lingard minutes who will also be off and Mata will be involved somewhere and I`m not holding my breath for another Juanfield. It is grim.
