The way we're being dismissed by pundits, LFC fans, journalists, our own fans is astonishing.

We've had an average start but we have some amazing players and a manager who will want to win at all costs and has shown time and time again he can do it.

I'm not saying this means we'll win but the idea that they're going to hammer us is absurd. *touch wood*

It's a very tough game for them too.

It's the Kult of Klopp at play I guess. I like him, I respect him, but would love also to see the fecker taken down a peg or two.

    My team prediction:

    De Gea
    Valencia Bailly Smalling Blind
    Herrera
    Fellaini Pogba
    Mata Ibrahimovic Martial

Perhaps but TBF, Henderson over Pogba is a proper joke. Most would probably take a handicapped Pogba over Henderson any day of the week. But then these English commentators...

Sorry mate but no. Pogba isn't on form right now. Hendo is and for that reason I agree with merse.

Not that that won't change in the future though.

To be fair, no team has ever reached the lofty heights of Liverpool right now. No team has ever managed to play good football in a handful of games or had a manager of the quality of Klopp before. It won't be long before United and the rest of the Premier League pack it in because they are so sensational.

I actually did feel like this for around 26 years when thinking about Utd.

The hype is a little ott even for my excitable personality. In reality were just 3 points ahead even after your loses. Tuesday will be a completely different story if you guys take the points.

Honestly Pogba hasn't been that bad. Not having a pre-season and playing so much in the Euros has effected him a lot though. And let's not forget how fecking good he was against Leicester, better performance than any Henderson's put in this season.

Merson just said that for clicks and attention. Some pundits love saying stupid comments just to be controversial.

I agree about that game but Leicester gave him the freedom of the park. I think most utd fans would agree he's not been at his best. I'm sure mourinho will get the best out of him but right now on form I think merse is talking some sense.

Six months from now we could be saying 89mil was a steal.

You could place this exact post before the City game, it says nothing. We have some amazing players, but most arent playing at their best and our amazing manager has got it wrong a couple times already in this young season. Liverpool have looked very strong in their top matches so far, so it's quite understandable.that our fans expect a loss, away from home.

It seem like people have forgotten Juanfield not so long ago.

Been reading Rawk matchday thread and their fans are so confident saying they will smash us 4-0, 4-1. Will be interesting to see how Mourinho set us up for this.

It's strange. I've never seen us head into a game of this magnitude confident of anything. Every year we either think we'll get torn apart, or we'll nick it. Yet every time RAWK think they'll walk it. It's bizarre, talk about delusion.

Soccer Saturday pundits backing Liverpool and also Henderson is better than Pogba right now.
Well they said he's shown better form this season, which is true. No one doubts that Pogba is the better player in terms of ability.

What does it matter , nobody listens to Merson anyway.
It also depends on the context in which he spoke, Pogba is clearly a great player but hasn't yet settled in the league whereas Henderson has been excellent this season playing in a re-vamped midfield 3 that has been very effective.

This whole he is better than him argument is a bit daft , it's a team game.
That said Pogba cost £89m - for that money you would hope he is the best midfielder in the world!

@Jaybomb is banging on again about how Liverpool players are essentially rubbish, but firstly missing the team game factor & the facts that the likes of Firmino have contributed far more this season to Liverpool than Micky Ryan (can't be bothered trying to spell properly), has so far for United.
He will no doubt be saying next West Brom, Bournemouth and chuffin QPR also have "better players" than we do.

It's how players fit and adapt into the manager's team and way of playing that are the important factor.
Way to jump to conclusions. I said the Premier League champions have a better team than you lot. And they do. Thats why they can call themselves the champions. Last season, they were better than Liverpool ever were. That's why they have the medals.

I find it fecking hilarious when Liverpool fans talk about Mkhitaryan "not contributing", you do realize he's been out injured on two occasions this season, right? I find it hilarious that any Liverpool fan would say he's not as good as Mane or Lallana or Firmino. That's absurd.

I stand by what I said before. In a combined United/Liverpool 11, only Clyne would get into the team cause United are lacking a good RB. You look at the rest of the team and who would get in...?

Mignolet or Karius over De Gea? Lol no.
    Lovren/Matip over Smalling/Bailly? absolutely not.
Milner over actual proven LBs like Shaw and Blind? Not a chance.

Then you have the midfield. Pogba and Herrera are clearly the obvious choices. I wouldn't even pick Jordan Henderson over Schneiderlin or Fellaini. He's a parody of Steven Gerrard.

Mata has proven to be one of the best attacking mids in the Prem. His stats, even for United prove that. "Hit and hope" Coutinho is a one trick pony. Scores a long shot and then goes missing for the next 5 matches. As for the striker position... I'm not even gonna compare Daniel Sturridge to Zlatan Ibrahimovic cause that's just insulting to the ponytailed legend.

It feels like everyone seems to be tipping and betting on Liverpool winning this match. Whenever that happens, it always feel like the bookies clean up with a special kind of upset.

Opening game of the season everyone was on Leicester beating relegation certainties Hull. Hull won. :)

I agree the form seems to be with them, but I definitely don't think they are far ahead of us.

I'm feeling a 0-1 Man Utd win. A real Mourinho special in front of his favourite group of fans.

Difficult game to call this one. On the back of internationals and with the Europa League a few days later which we have to win. Liverpool are playing some good stuff at the moment and are at home. My heart is obviously going for a win but my head is nagging me with a 2-1 or 3-1 to the Pool unfortunately.

So Leicester have a better team than Utd going by your rules? Finishing above you an all.....

Or does that only work when the team has the letter "L" in the name.

So based on your logic Leicester have a better team than United, City, Arsenal, Spurs and the team they're currently losing 2-0 to Chelsea? I say this because based on your post you've decided that the fact that Leicester won the league last year means all of their players are better than all of Liverpool's, even though we beat them 4-1 and find ourselves ahead of them in the table this season. If they're better than us because they're champions they're better than United for the same reason if we use your logic.

I'm starting to think this game won't be very close at all. I feel like it will either be a comfortable win for Liverpool like many are expecting or we will suddenly click and spank them rather than it being a typical 2-1, 1-1 type of score line.

We won the FA Cup. What have you won?

Besides that, we've signed 3 world class talents since then who would get into most teams in the world's starting 11. You have signed zero.

What the heck has that to do with the question 2 posters have asked you?
Based on your absurd claims Leicester have a better team than anyone in the league - correct? So how many of their players would get in United's team? Quite a lot I assume as they are the best team....

I don't care how many Liverpool players would get in a combined eleven, it's not important - how they play & perform as a team is.

Your comments on Coutinho are laughable also. "Hit and Hope - one trick pony", Firmino is "slow" and then earlier you claim others know nothing about football?!

You are so biased and blinkered it's unbelievable.
Scroll back a few pages, even United fans are saying the same.

"We won the FA cup what have you won" - grow up, how old are you about 12?

Why the Monday fixture with Europe on Thursday?

Because tv only care about money and viewing figures, not the benefit of the clubs

It is ludicrous to have this as a Monday night though, on all levels.
Only positive, is that if we lose it doesn't ruin the weekend as it's gone!

I agree, to be honest as a match going fan I hate the Monday night games too, it's nice as a neutral to watch some footy over the weekend but the timings of some of the games don't suit many fans.

WTF has that got to do with your post or mine for that matter.

    Keyboard warrior right there!

Liverpool fans far too reasonable in this thread.

Whatever happened to the mindless baiting I used to enjoy so much in the old days :)

They don't even play in the same position/role. Compare Herrera and Henderson. Pogba should probably be compared to Wijnaldum.

There's sort of some logic in here, player by player we clearly have the better players.

The problem, is that Liverpool now have a real effective distinct style which looks to be a bit of a goal fest fantasy, while we're too early in to have a definitive way of playing yet.

Add to that we have a tonne load of things to sort out, like the Rooney issue, getting Miki integrated, and Martial back to last year's form, how to get Rashford involved when Ibra is taking his preferred position, and the little aspect of how to best use our 90m man!
Throw in a collection of expensive midfielders who still don't quite offer what we need, and we still need a chunk of sorting out.

Liverpool win by 1 goal = Liverpool 3rd, United 7th/8th (depending on Crystal Palace's result tonight)
Liverpool win by 2 goals = Liverpool 2nd, United 7th/8th (depending on Crystal Palace's result tonight)
Liverpool win by 3 or more goals = Liverpool 1st, United 7th/8th (depending on Crystal Palace's result tonight)
    Draw = Liverpool 4th, United 7th
United win by 1 goal = Liverpool 4th, United 6th
United win by 2 goals = United 4th, Liverpool 5th

United 3 points behind fourth currently. A loss would make that five points with a trip to Stamford Bridge to come.

Gini is playing deeper for us than he did at Newcastle. Probably lallana is a shout but merse is making the comparison, not me.
