Hm. From a SkySports article on previous match ups between the two teams, in particular the game in which Carragher kicked Nani and avoided red.

CARRA: Not one of my finer moments. It was a bit of a dive from Nani, wasn't it? I tell you what my best memory of that is...

NEVILLE: Not getting a red card I imagine!

CARRA: Haha. No, not so much the tackle but Wayne Rooney's reaction. I was on favourable terms with the referee Phil Dowd. I got him on my own, pulled him and said 'he just beat me with skills'. Everyone is fighting and I got him over like an experienced pro. Then Rooney comes over and says 'you won't believe it, he's crying'.

Rather immature and pathetic of Carragher. His childish attempts to emasculate Nani just make him come across as a sad little man.

Really looking forward to this game. I will also back United to win however need to see the teamsheet before placing the bet.
If bog brush and/or Rooney start, then i'm out.

We are going to win this. Liverpool will play us off the park but we'll scrape through with an ugly 2-1 or 1-0 win.

    De Gea
    Valencia Bailly Smalling Blind
    Carrick
    Herrera Pogba
    Mata Zlatan Martial
Not sure on our midfield three combination. Go with the one I have above or

    Herrera
    Schneiderlin Pogba
Wish we had a better box to box midfielder.

    I think we’l go with

    ---------------------De Gea--------------------
    Valencia------Bailly----Smalling-----Shaw
    ------------------Herrera-----------------------
    -----------------------------Pogba---------------
    ----------------Mata------------------------------
    Lingard---------------------------------Martial
    ---------------------Zlatan-----------------------

Shaw in for Blind simply for his pace against Mane. Martial in for Rashford just because he’s a little bit better at tracking back and Rashford looked leggy against Stoke. Lingard to keep his pace because Jose seems to love him and I think he’l get us joy down that side.

I have stuck with Herrera, Pogba and Mata. Herrera in good form and buoyed by his international call up. I think we need footballers to beat their pressing game, get on and keep the ball to quieten them moronic arseholes. However, I wouldn’t be surprise if Jose put Blind in there for a bit more protection.

    We’ll win…..1-2 or 3

I'd put Blind in there for his corners alone, could very well make the difference on Monday.

Its a decent point. Could even shift herrera into the 8 and Pogba into the 10.

I think whoever and however we start on Monday will be exactly the same on sunday. All of them rested on Thursday

Blind has to play imo. Not least because of his composure on the ball, which will be much needed in an erratic game. He also has a smart way of picking the ball off the receiver to compensate for the lack of pace. Rarely gets caught out by it, so I trust his methods.

Apparently we where working on the shape of the team in training yesterday......no details on who was amongst the main group.....just that Rooney wasn't.

Yes, makes more sense to get him back against Fener.

 Gary Palister on skysports: "Unleash the beast. If Jose feels Wayne is ready to come back in for the game, he will be desperate to prove people wrong."

Managers have now seen that Rooney is not good enough to play for England or MUFC's starting XI.
Yet some pundits are still hammering on that Rooney should play.

Ultra modern Klopp just might dismantle us.

My fear exactly to be honest. Not looking forward to the game at all. Just feel that Jose has lost his smile (like shawn michaels, shite analogy) and is just going through the motions.

It's actually unbelievable at times to see how many players that performed at a high level have zero clue about the game.

Poor choice of words for such a legend, should have been '' Release the Kraken ".

    Or " unleash the granny sh***er " ...

Klopp has said today that Wijnaldum and Lallana could play on Monday. It's a wait and see on both.

They used to beat us all the time at Anfield or at least we would play shite. I am just trying to prepare myself as I am a pessimist regarding football. it is the safest way, protecting your emotions

We have very good at Anfield IIRC. From 2009 we had sort of bad record for 3 years though.

    de Gea
    Valencia Bailly Smalling Blind
    Carrick
    Herrera Pogba
    Rashford Ibrahimovic Martial

This is something I'd like to see. Three in midfield, pace and goals on both flanks. Bench to likely include Rooney, Lingard, Fellaini, Mata, Schneiderlin etc.

Mkhitaryan and Shaw will be possibilities for the bench, but in a game like this it's probably best they're left out. I'd imagine Shaw would be given the start against Fenerbahce, maybe Miki too or at least a good 30 minutes from the bench - then both to play against City in the League Cup.

I always hate playing against this lot, maybe I'm just remembering things wrong, but I feel like the vast majority of the time we just play shit against them. They've been the underdogs for so many years now that they rev themselves up way more than we do. I'd probably take a draw just so we don't lose too much ground. Hopefully we can make back up at Chelsea.

Yeah, how many Liverpool players would actually get in?

Depends, you could easily get 5 or 6 in.
Hansen, Hughes, Barnes, Rush, Dalglish, Gerrard for example or other alternatives/combinations - it's almost impossible to pick an eleven.

Not confident for monday for some reason. Half our team need to really step it up after late Septembers form. If we start slow then the game could be over before its begun. Jose to play for the point is my guess.

    Nope.
"pool have had some great units, but don't have an abundance of truly great players. Utd, obviously do.

Actually could add Souness to my list, a truly great player - to add to the others we have had.
