We will win. Jose will celebrate in front of our fans. The Kop will be close to rioting. It will be glorious.

    BELIEVE.

I still hope he does start. That one performance aside, he's looked like a liability against us, and against other big sides who are able to field more natural midfielders than him. Herrera and Pogba both fall into that category.

Plus he might be rusty. And they're playing this good stuff without him in the side, so a change can only be a risk for them.

I can't recall any game big in which he's stood out as a liability in CM.

He had one bad game against Manchester United in his first season, playing at RB.

I was backing Liverpool to win this but my mind has been changed, albeit I think it's going to be a close game either way.

    1-2 United.

It's very frustrating having to wait another 5 days for the game.
    It's almost like a 3 week break.

We talk about Winter breaks, which some leagues implement. With the international breaks we regularly get, I don't think there is any need for Winter breaks.

Yeah I'm getting the same feeling. The injuries will upset our midfield and the way we press. It wouldn't be the end of the world but would certainly lift United and Mourinho.
What injuries, Wijnaldum? And who else?

Lallana as well which is two thirds of our midfield.

We'll probably line up with Can and Coutinho ahead of Henderson in a three behind Mane, Firmino and Sturridge so it's not necessarily weaker personnel wise but tactically it could be.

Honestly think we will win this , the occasion will bring out the best in Zlatan and Pogba and have a feeling Miki will make an impact .I'm going for 2.0 with Zlatan scoring both

Fully expecting a defeat but would be great to burst their bubble and get our season back on track.

What a convenient time to get promoted (well not fully promoted but allowed to post in here) given i'm from the dark side.

A few weeks ago I was expecting a win, not to take you apart but given how we were playing and your selves not ripping up trees I thought we would take 3 points.

As the match grows nearer I'm not as confident probably because I'm an insufferable shit bag but also due to a couple of injured players after the international brake.

On paper we should still win I suppose been in good form, at home, still got our shiny new toy in the new stand etc

Football isn't played on paper as we all know so pretty much anything can happen. I'd have us slight favourites but not by much.

    Can presses very well no?

Lets get into the mood lads

    Can presses very well no?
He was playing as the holding midfielder towards the back end of last season, like what Henderson is doing now. His lack of match practice so far makes me worry that he might get caught out. I do think he is better as a box to box midfielder but I'm not sure if he'll be as effective as Wijnaldum has been.

Talk Lallana and Wijnaldum could miss out. Two of their midfield three. Surely would upset them.

I don't think Liverpool have any like for like replacements, though like another poster said they could move Coutinho back to play there as he's done it before and well irrc. Still though I think it'll definitely hinder them to some extent.

What about that other fella Grujic?
He's not got anywhere near enough experience for a game against United in my opinion.

Well against you was the first time we have done that with Coutinho this season but in the second half he seemed to take to the position fairly well. I'm a bit concerned that he's been in South America playing friendlies but he's got until Monday to be ready.

What a shite time for a game. 4am on a Tuesday when I have a busy day at work and a trip to the hospital.
    I think I won't be watching.

In hindsight, good for us that is after an international break, as it has hopefully taken some wind out if Liverpool's early season momentum and given Mourinho time to reflect on what he must do between now and Xmas to get us properly into the mix.

Coming back our squad needs to hit the ground running and deliver exactly what the manager asks of them. Im sure Mourinho has the tactical nous to get a win so long as his chosen players deliver the agreed strategy

The injuries to Lallana and Wijnaldum may disrupt the ballance in their team. If Coutinho replaces Lallana in midfield and Sturridge starts, they will offer more threat going forward but may be less good at gegen pressing. I rate Can but he hasn't started a game so far and is bound to be rusty and make some mistakes. On the other hand, he is taller and stronger than Wijnaldum and may help in defending from set pieces. I was quite pessimistic before these injuries, nowthe outcome is way more unpredictable. They should not score first because with Mane, Firmino and Sturridge they will be quite dangerous on the counter.

Apparently Wijnaldum told the Dutch manager at half time his hamstring was a bit tight, but the manager didn't replace him and he played on for another 15 mins.

The manager in question? Danny Blind ;)

    Must not lose.
Can easily see us not picking up any points from the next two games. if that happens, we're fecked.

You are big favourites though according to the bookmakers.

Had a dream last night that we lined up with a midfield trio of Rooney, Pogba and Fellaini. I saw the lineup, the fans unhappy and the commentators talking about it. Someone said you cant pair Pogba with Fellaini and Rooney. Then i woke up. fecking hell

Playing on a Monday is worse than playing on a Friday. What a waste.
Fridays are great. Just out of work, the whole weekend ahead of you and a good mood all around. Goes nicely with a couple of beers as well. I haven't yet been to a Friday game myself, but from what I've read it seems the regular match going fans seem to like friday night lights as well? I certainly would, anyways.

Mondays are just shitty though, thoroughly agree with you on that.

True, but a loss on a Friday and my entire weekend is ruined. I'd rather they ruin my working week than my precious weekend :(

Hah, that's actually very true! I usually shake off a loss without much trouble, but the City game really lingered almost that entire weekend.

    Hope we play :

    DDG

    Valencia
    Smalling
    Baily
    Blind

    Carrick
    Herrera
    Pogba

    Mata
    Rashford
    Zlatan

If we play Herrera - Pogba again in a midfield 2 we'll 100 % lose.
