Jesus Christ Souness. I can't fecking stand the media they drive me insane. One day they're going to send me to breaking point with their stupidity.

Happy we're sticking with 4-4-2 but disappointed that Mata is dropped. RvP has shown precisely nothing.

What's he saying now? I've not got it on yet.

Banging on about Mata being a defensive liability. Who gives a feck. Someone should ask him if he thinks Messi is a defensive liability, because he does less running than Mata. It's just as ridiculous a statement.

Can see you guys winning this and the next heavily whilst we dont win later and it being 'on'.;)

Gutted Mata isn't starting. Blackett over Shaw is a bit of a shock. I mean Blackett hasn't done much wrong (although he is being overrated a tad on here) but you'd think Rojo would be moved back down the middle and Shaw start on the left if everyone was fit.

I think it's the first time in ages that UTD have been in a position to drop a player like Mata! It's a shame but we all knew someone will have to be dropped and it's Mata which I think it's the right decision as RVP needs game time to get back to full fitness.

    God Nevills moaning about Mata..
Hes right though, when he was signed Nev was one of the only pundits that questioned it and tbh hes been proven to be spot on.

I personally think Mata would be awesome behind Rooney and Falcao but LvG wants to get more minutes out of RvP

It's becoming tiresome now. Change the record nev.

I'm disappointed that Mata was dropped because I feel like it should have been Van Persie, but either way we've still got a great team out there, should get the win.

Mata being dropped is most probably a tactical decision since LVG probably thinks he would be easily bullied off the ball (and he wouldn't be wrong).

That's true but surely if someone is to be dropped it should be RvP, he's literally done nothing in every game so far, he looks like he can't be assed playing football.
tbf,he was not bad last game.He takes some time to get going doesnt he?I'll stick my neck out and say RVP is going to score today. :)

After all RVP is a world class player. If he plays well and we can get him going along with the likes of Falcao,Rooney,Mata,Herrera Di Maria the opposition will shit themselves

You said you wanted Januzaj to start because Rooney or Mata needed a rest and you're using Falcao playing as a striker and Rooney dropping into Mata's position for tactical reasons as proof of your point.

Nobody is getting rested, Mata is missing out because Van Gaal has made tactical decisions you doughnut. I never said we shouldn't change the XI, I said you were daft for suggesting we start resting players in September after 5 games played.

    Jesus H.

If you reread the posts carefully both Januzaj and Falcao were mentioned as the starting candidates. eg. post #572. But yeah, it was definitely only Januzaj alrite mate.

As for the "nobody is getting rested" part, you do know managers don't reveal all their secrets to the media ? For all his talk of transparency, Van Gaal is quite a notorious manipulator in the press. Ask old Barcelona fans.

But yeah just harp upon one part to prove a point. ;)

    Adios.

After the break, Souness gives his opinion on Falcao and believes he "needs to start showing he can score goals".

No it isn't, Messi plays up front and Mata's a midfielder. Midfielders are expected to help out defensively.

You think this is enough? Our standards are getting lower and lower each week..he is good on the ball, but defensively way too shaky.

You're really overstating it. He's 19, not exactly gonna be Paulo fecking Maldini is he? The truth is he's come in and done his job very well. I agree he shouldn't be in the XI, but only when all of our defenders are fit- they're not atm. IMO Smalling should've started but for Evans, who's been much worse than Blackett.
