Bit of an overreaction. One of RVP / Falcao / Rooney / Mata is always going to get dropped. Mata has played every game so far.

I'm just happy we are playing away and kept the diamond and are still playing a very attacking team.

I need help in understanding that quote from LvG.
Was he not satisfied with mata as midfielder when rooney is a striker. or when he said he is not satisfied with mata as a midfielder, did he mean independent of who is playing striker?
Also, no shaw? i am disappointed. i believe he is much better on the ball than rojo. there will be a lot more pressing today, shaw would have dealt with that better.

The youth players are Evans and Blackett. Rafael and Rooney don't count as they signed at 18 and didn't play for the youth teams.

    Falcaooooooooooo
Predictable to see mata dropped, harsh though. Rvp has to perform though, and I think van gaal wants to play him into form rather then just drop him. You can't blame him. If it doesn't work we have a pretty decent bench to change things too

So Rooney is admitting he's no longer as explosively explosive anymore. Sheesh. Give us that 17 year old non goal scoring/assisting exploder of a teenager any day.

Would be surprised if any player was how they were when younger.
Think he's implying that he chased lost causes. So he hasn't slowed down or become lazy. He has become selective in his interventions.

    Ahem

Called it. Gonna be all smarmy about it now. This is the normal rotation every team must do. You can't sit players of the quality of Januzaj or Falcao on the bench for extended periods. One out of Rooney and Mata had to be dropped. Casualties of an abundance of attacking talent.

    @Pexbo : See it wasn't nonsense.

You said you wanted Januzaj to start because Rooney or Mata needed a rest and you're using Falcao playing as a striker and Rooney dropping into Mata's position for tactical reasons as proof of your point.

Nobody is getting rested, Mata is missing out because Van Gaal has made tactical decisions you doughnut. I never said we shouldn't change the XI, I said you were daft for suggesting we start resting players in September after 5 games played.

"I was not so satisfied with the performances of Rooney as a striker and Mata as a midfielder"

Bit harsh on both counts I think

RVP seemed the most off form of all strikers to me.Maybe Falcao and RVP struck a good partnership in training matches.
Still this is an excellent problem we have , we have Juan-Fecking-Mata to replace Falcao-Rooney-RVP if either gets injured or hits a rough patch.

"I was not so satisfied with the performances of Rooney as a striker and Mata as a midfielder"

Bit harsh on both counts I think

Yes it does seem harsh as they both had good games. Also no matter what Rooney says I'm sure his best position is as a proper striker these days.

Can play, but it's hardly ideal. He scores goals, but he still congests the attacks. We're essentially playing with 3 center forwards today. Di Maria and Herrera will have to take care of the playmaking. We'll have to sacrifice even more width than normal with the diamond, but I see no other choice.

I'd much rather have started Mata, with RVP on the bench.

Ok if he has a stormer will we here oh it's only Leicester. Will see I just want a win anyway

So Rooney is admitting he's no longer as explosively explosive anymore. Sheesh. Give us that 17 year old non goal scoring/assisting exploder of a teenager any day.
His answer to the question of not being the same player was actually brilliant.

Di Marias final ball is disappointing according to Souness. Is he pissed?

I like Souness but calling Di Maria's final ball disappointing...really?

Souness says Di Maria's final ball lets him down

Please just let Carragher speak, he's the only one who knows what he's on about.

I agree with the questions around dropping Mata, but i think that starting line up is mouth watering.
Leicester has played with very high pressure the first games of the season, so maybe LVG feels that Rooney would help more.
On paper, Rooney, RVP and Falcao up front is the third strongest front three in the world imo.

Blacket keeps his place, so two thumbs up for him. Would be excellent if he could cement a place in the first 11 when everybody is fit. Who would thought that before the season started.

Blind was impressive last game so hopefully he can bring the same calmness this game.
Di Maria is one of the best in the world, so he will be good.

I am very excited for this game, would be great if we could get another victory like against QPR.

They're speaking spanish? They come here with their tanned looks, stealing rooneys goals and assists, who do they think they are? Anyway, it all sounds like everyone is getting along nicely under van gaal, i hope it continues.

Did Souness really say that? Feck me. I'm glad i'm not watching the build up. Get the F1 on for half an hour.

That's true but surely if someone is to be dropped it should be RvP, he's literally done nothing in every game so far, he looks like he can't be assed playing football.
