Martinez unfit so Evans at LCB.

I can't see him playing Rashford at wingback. He's the laziest player we have off the ball. Garnacho works much harder.

I feel Garna works harder on the ball than Rashford, but not much in it off the ball. Just that Rashford has been safer on his decision-making on the ball this season, makes him feel like the more balanced choice for me. I see Garna a bit more offensively inclined right now.

Garnacho does work hard off the ball though, something rarely seen from Rashford.

He gets back and makes tackles whereas Rashford might as well not be there, except for the second half against Brentford. He only seems to be interested when he has the ball.

I can't see Rashford working hard enough for Amorim, in any position to be honest, and he's never shown any aptitude for pressing. It's always lazy half-hearted efforts from him.

I disagree or agree only partially. I think I am overall as disappointed as you are regarding Rashford, but I also think he and Garna fall short off the ball by Amorim's standards, in that they chase back with intent only sporadically.
This season I feel Rashford's crossing has been decent, positioning ok but I want to see more energy from him, off the ball but also on the ball getting at opponents and making a nuisance of himself.

Fair enough but Garnacho is young enough to learn and improve. I'm just not convinced Rashford has it in him.

Cheers, let's just hope we win. There will be much to discuss after the new setup.

Looking forward to the new era and I absolutely welcome the back 3 with open arms. We need to be very difficult to score against and play around again.

Its been months since I have watched united play. Really looking forward to tomorrow.

Plenty of folk picking him, but I don’t see Garnacho starting at Wing back. Amo has said he’ll use fullbacks to start with rather than wingers which points to Dalot on the left if Shaw/Malacia are still not ready.

I got a feeling Garnacho will be sold for a lot of money in the summer. He doesnt exactly fit Rubens idea of a wing back or AM. If Utd could get north of 70 mill for him and bring in a player or two that does, I could see this happening. Rashford could go as well, (along with a load of others). Unless he buckles down with tracking back he will be no use to Ruben.

Would be a real shame, he hasn’t peaked yet and he is going to be a special player. He does feel like one of the players that doesn’t fit though so who knows.

I think Marcus might end up as a 10 next to Bruno behind Hojlund/a no.9 - Amorim will make it work for him, and Rashford will stick around.

Feels like it's been months since a United match. I'm actually looking forward to it for once.

I think you got your predictions upside down, it's Garnacho who has the upside, it's Garnacho who is our biggest threat currently, I think he is better technically so could work in a narrower role and he does have the work rate, intensity and grit. I think Amorim will like him and rotate between him, Amad and Mount for the second No. 10 role. For Rashford it will be striker or bust.

He will not play Rashford/Garna as wingback I reckon. He told Gary it's really hard to teach attackers to defend (than the other way around). Rashford will probably have to compete with Hojlund and if he doesn't like playing up top, tough luck.

Hope you're right and I agree that Garnacho's work rate will put him in better stead to succeed in a Amorim system.

Any idea why Garnacho wasn't on that travelling squad list seen on social media yesterday

Impossible line up to predict but have a feeling he said in general we'll play with fullbacks as wingbacks more often in the beginning, but seeing it's Ipswich he might start a winger on one side.

Subs: Garnacho for Mount, Hojlund for Rashford, Mainoo for Casemiro, Yoro and maybe Shaw for Evans and Mazraoui.

It's obvious Shaw won't start, don't think Mainoo is ready yet as well, same with Yoro, will be integrated gradually, don't know anything about Martinez.

Then there's Malacia and Eriksen and Zirkzee.. we have so many players!

The beginning of yet another New Era. Let’s hope it starts better than the last one at least. Ipswich are a competent team and even beat Spurs away, so it’s not going to be easy. They are well rested and will play with intensity and desire in front of their crowd. It will be a good introduction to the league for Amorim. Interested to see how he sets up the team.

I'm excited! Amorim and a new system will be fascinating. Not expecting to see us firing on all cylinders at this early stage but hopefully we see signs of an identity that we never truly saw under ETH. A win would be the cherry on top.
