    Can't wait to see the fallout when Amorim picks a similar starting XI to ETH. Anyway here's what I'm hoping for:

    I think Maz and Dalot are good enough to play as attacking WBs and I'd start Ugarte because it's going to be a tough away game. If Mount is fit then he may start over Amad but IMO the team would be too workman-like and lack control.

    I'd prefer to see Hojlund come off the bench to wreak havoc after 60mins. We'll also need competent WB subs because those 2 are going to be knackered by the 70th minute.

    I’m interested to see what Amorims in game management is like. ETH always made changes around the 60 minute mark even when losing. He also use to bring on a defender every single game which I don’t know why.
     
    Really excited to see today’s lineup but more so to watch a new system and how we adapt.

    Not expecting a demolition of Ipswich though. They aren’t just gonna roll over and will be equally up for it with ManUtd in town

    From what I've read, Amorim substitutes his wing-backs pretty much every game.

    If it helps, in their last fixture under Amorim they were 2-0 down at HT and came back to win 4-2. Before that, they were 1-0 down at HT and came back to win 4-1.

    Essentially, I hope we're losing at HT today.

    Aren't wingbacks pretty much confirmed unless there is an injury to Dalot or Mazraoui? Amorim already said that he will play fullbacks in that position at the start because it's easier to teach them how to Attack.

    Imagine that we play 4231 but everyone does there job, we don’t drop possession and score four. Rashford does his job, Højlund scores and Bruno doesn’t behave like a child!

    I don’t think the formation matters that much. It’s been all about attitude, intention and commitment.

    Let’s see if this ”new era” works out! I really cross my fingers! Ruben seems like a really good guy and has the record from Portugal.

    Antony was playing as a winger in the 343 in training however. Who knows!

    The combination of Ugarte and Casemiro as a pivot is the one really racking my brain. Amorim typically pairs a ball player with a ball winner, which makes me wonder how this dynamic would unfold. To Casemiro’s credit, he’s shown improvement as an 8, so a setup like the one under Ruud could potentially work, although one would expect Mainoo to eventually come in.

    On the other hand, I’m also considering whether Amorim might opt to play Bruno deeper, with Mount and Amad operating as the two 10s.

    Time will tell. Kudos to anyone who gets 11/11 today.
     
    Anyone else with completely unrealistic expectations about today’s game? Excited to see us under A new coach playing a different system?
    I know it’s mental after only a week’s training but I can’t help myself.

    That lineup looks potentially right based on comments from Amorim about starting with fullbacks in the wingback slots and Mount training very well.

    Probably biggest question mark would be Shaw and whether he gets brought back in slowly to try not to aggravate his injury.

    However I'd like to mention it would be ridiculously unfair to not play Amad after how he was playing before the international break.

    For me, Amad has to be in the lineup. While Bruno is undoubtedly our most creative player and Mount excels with his unselfish off-the-ball movement, no one in the squad possesses Amad's exceptional ball-carrying ability. Given Mount's recent absence and Amad's excellent form, it feels like a straightforward decision. That said, you can never be entirely sure when it comes to selection choices.

    It wouldn’t also be very fair not to play Garnacho who is our top goal scorer and G/A leader. That said, many of the players won’t play either way

    Based on his interview with Neville, I think he'll start with Dalot and Mazraoui as the WBs for now. I think Amad will start as one of the 10s instead of Garnacho.
