We are playing 5 at the back when we don’t have possession
Yep. Clear we aren’t comfortable or confident in the first phase as a back three. Amad and Dalot are too deep and the CBs too narrow

Good half. Ipswich deserve credit. We can win this: we can lose it. Their goal was a bit lucky. Eriksen playing well. We need Ugarte in there. Rashers off, Hojlund on? Great saves by Onana

Ipswich have been the better team, Casemiro and Eriksen are just getting outrun, Garnacho and Rashford really poor.

    Middle of midfield is shocking.
The number of times eriksen has passed it straight back to a centre half when he. Could have turned is exasperating.
Need mainoo if he is fit.

After a bright start, it’s been a pretty lacklustre performance. We’ve lost all our duels and can’t win the ball back. Ipswich have managed to break our defence down after a number of warning signs. Amorim needs to inject some legs into that midfield so we can win the midfield battle.

Hmmm, Amorim promised we'd be able to see "an idea" from his first match onwards. Not totally clear to me from that first half what that idea is.

It's obvious that a combined 100 year old central midfielders are struggling. RVN didn't hesitate to use Lindelof in midfield when necessary.

Team structure is solid out of possession, and we don’t look a mess for once, but we massively lack pace, energy, and physicality. Just having Martinez instead of Evans would make a huge difference in this game.

Casemiro and Eriksen has proven to be a weak and immobile combo, too many times in the past .
Add the front three being totally defensively ineffective and lacking any aggression, or providing any cover for the midfield, has left us wide open.
It’s the same problem we’ve had for the last 3 seasons.

    .

Fair play to Mckenna he's got them pressing really well. Whenever Dalot gets the ball he is completely surrounded and gives it away every time. He's been a massive weak point for us

Not great, got to be said. To deep, to passive. Ipswich are completely blocking us in.

We need to braver on the ball, braver with our positioning and much braver with our tackling. Far too much standing off going on.

Dalot looks a bit lost at left wing back. He too deep and too I narrow too often, basically everything good for Ipswich has come down there right with Dalot often in no mans land.

We look like we haven’t got a clue how to play this formation now that Ipswich have overloaded the wings. Our Centre mids and centrebacks can’t pick out a pass from the back to anywhere but our wingbacks.

I hope we get our first choice players back. We surely would be better with Martinez, mainoo and ugarte in there.

This looks like its going to take a bit of work to get functioning correctly. Amad & Dalot run out of options when the ball ends up with them and the two holding midfielders are getting marked out of it. I watched a video of how if against a 3-4-3 you can pin the wingbacks back and flood the area between the holding mids & back 3 it can cause you issues. Looks like Ipswich are doing exactly that and the inexperienced of our players in dealing with it is showing.

Did not expect the final product from get go, did not expect us to be absolutely rinsed by Ipswich
They do say evolution not revolution.. some would say the sense would be to not change things so dramatically from the start.. Keep the players in a situation they are familiar with. So keep Amad and Garnacho as traditonal wingers. Play a four at the back. Rashford up front was a wise choice. Win the game and then win the right to change the system. It just looks too much like five at the back and there's not enough control in midfield.

Midfield is a bit static at the moment: will be good to see Ugarte come on and probably Hojland. The ball doesn’t stick with Rashford when it’s hit long.

Ipswich are very good at home so I wouldn't have expected this to be an easy game but we need to play better than what we've shown so far.

We've been utterly shit since the opening goal. Barely threatened their defense. I hope we see a response now after half time. As good as Ipswich are going forward, their defence is absolutely hopeless. We should work them more.

Casemiro, Eriksen and Evans are done. Rashford is pants, and Garnacho is not much better. Then you have Dalot passing the ball around with his eyes closed half the time. No wonder Amorim didn't really want to join this shitshow mid-season.

What the feck was the commentator on about when Evans got elbowed. Said something like: “Evans made an attempt to win the ball”. Weird. Just no mention of how bad it was from Delap.

Our Mf pair are too close together.
We play from the back but struggle to get it out of our half. It's onan to deligt to Maz to deligt to Evans and then hoof

Trying to play a passing game with our players is just a recipe for disaster as that 45 min showed. Some of them would struggle to get game time in championship on their passing ability.

started off very good for about 20 mins, we were keeping the ball. Then went a bit to crap.

It's just the same with a different shape. Mazroui can't get forward as he's a CB. Amad isn't a wing back he's a winger who consistently defending , I know he likes 3 CB but we haven't got the players to do it yet. Mazroui is a full back not a wing back and he's being strangled in a 3 ..

That's fair enough but I'm 43 and I've lived with racism for all of those years, I can guarantee you that what you was thinking never entered my mind, not for a second
It’s a bit like saying Gareth bale looks like a monkey. Nobody thinks it’s racist. But if you said it about a black player, even if he did, it could be taken the wrong way.
