    Hehehe.

Mate, we have Pogba. Ibra. With Jose as manager. Galactico class players with Galactico class manager.
No longer do we need to fear the likes of Hull, Stoke, Bournemouth, Norwich, etc.
    We'll crush Hull!!!!
I hope you're right mate :nervous:

    If I could choose:

If we're comfortable in the game, swap Blind for Smalling at around 60. If not, swap for Mata/Mhiki late on and try to defend our lead in a similar way to the Southampton game.
Best possible line up. Wont start though

This is it for me. I like the idea of Matta and Mkhitaryan linking up with Mkhiaryans speed covering for Matta. Also like the idea of Pogba acting like a foil for them in both attack and defence. The link up play and movement should be something to make the mouth water.

That is virtually impossible, even if he does give us 2-3 high quality seasons, which is the most we can possibly expect.

It really isn't. He was on a free - If he manages to win the Golden Boot and the league twice then why not? A free signing, winning us trophies on the back of a horrible spell in the clubs history.

Cannot possibly be better than Schmeichel, Cantona, Ronaldo etc. Also the lack of a transfer fee does not really make him 'free'!

Don't know if you have noticed, but Martial has been very out of form lately.
It's been incredibly overplayed. 2 assists in his first game, granted the first half he was poor but the second half he was class. Likewise against Southampton, had a poor first half, but then second half was dangerous every time he got the ball. And it's been 2 games. 2 games. You don't drop someone like Martial (who is still only 20 years old which many are forgetting), especially when he has been decent in both games overall!

The thing is, these are the types of games Mourinho and Zlatan will be the most important to us in. Niggly matches like this were the death of us under LvG. Mourinho and Ibrahimovic have plenty of experience in breaking down smaller teams.

Martial's problems come from a lack of match fitness. Once he plays a few more games, he'll be back to his flying best. Even in the game against Southampton he was quite decent, just lacked the finishing touch.

Absolutely agree - the critics of martial were seemingly waiting for a game he isnt superb in to slate him. He was ok in the first games as many here stated and of course he is good on the wing. He played there superbly last year

Yep, a more match fit Martial probably has 2 goals and an assist against Southampton

I think the line up will be basically the same. The 2 questions in my mind are will Mkhitaryan start and when will Smalling make a return?

I thought the Mata sub against Southhampton was the writing on the wall the Mkhitaryan will start this week. I think Mourinho was making a vote of confidence in Mata after the community shield by starting him the last 2 league games but will now go with Mhitaryan moving forward.

I think the Smalling situation is the most interesting. He was the best CB on the team last year, one of the best in the league for most of the campaign, and right now cannot really justify getting a game.

Would at the very least like to see Rashford get a run out in this game, my only disappointment from the opening two games is that he hasn't managed to get off the bench.

I think the team will be the same XI that started v Southampton.

Ibrahimovic needs a rest, from what exactly? I don't understand people saying that and also people saying Martial needs a rest. Martial needs to get his sharpness back so he needs more games. An international break is coming up so why on earth would we want to rest Ibrahimovic? Weird people.

Smalling should start against City. Bailly has started well but we'll need experience against them so I hope Smalling gets much needed minutes against Hull

I think people are getting carried away. Hull is in good spirit, we haven't fared too well there last few years (hard games, even when we won I.e 3-2 Boxing Day 2013). The players will need to pull their weight to get the 3 points.

Going for 2-1. Wouldn't be terribly surprised if we draw.

I think we'll line up like this.

    DDG
    Valencia - Bialy - Smalling - Shaw
    Fellaini - Pogba
    Mhykt - Rooney - Martial
    Ibra

It's been pretty great to see Fellaini play well, but could see Carrick or Ander coming in in Hull really dig in.

Drives me mad that we play this and then the squad is broken up for internationals, with the derby 2 weeks after this match! So frustrating after no club football for it to come back for 3 or 4 games and then break again.

Same team from the last match for me, providing everyone is fit.

International break after this game, will be huge for momentum and a real statement of intent to go into the break on the back of three wins.

After the break, as Jose has alluded to, the other competitions start to kick in and so that is when we should look to start rotating and giving players game time.

    Indeed.
He needs to be played into form, not benched.
Martial is not a great player, but he is a very good player and he can definitely help us win games. No doubt about that.

Sounds like Big Sam is not going to have Rashford in England's senior squad. Not enough games?

Still. He is quite young. Lots of time.
How many minutes would he get in the England game? Last 20?

If he gets a full 90 with the u21s I'm all for it. Needs as many minutes now so when he is used more in September he is sharp.

Hopefully Miki and Smalling start this game.

Why hopefully Smalling? The back four has been good and they are developing good chemistry. Lets keep it that way for now. You can make changes as often as you want in attack but not defense.

    DDG
    Valencia Smalling Bailly Shaw
    Carrick Pogba
    Myhkitarian Rooney Martial
    Zlatan

Why Smalling? Blind and Bailly have been great I thought.
They have, but the back four is still suspect aerially from crosses - Shane Long for instance looked a real threat at times for Southampton, and they were playing a diamond and didn't even cross that much. Smalling is our best defender and will help in that respect massively.

I think the best solution is to replace Rooney either with Mkhitaryan or Malta but both of them play (Mkhitaryan and Matt). The interchange of passing and positioning will be imo too much for the oppo

    Mata.
