I'd rest Martial as he has been given a rest and have him fresh for Stoke next Tuesday.

Surely, if we slip up here we might aswell pack our bags in for any hopes of a turn around this season.

That happened when we got beat at home, by Middlesborough in the League Cup.
And then again when we got knocked out in the CL (it was the home game against PSV, where we played for a 0-0 draw)
And then again when we lose/drew every game in December.

I haven't yet lost count, of the number of times we could give up hope, but I'm getting there.

TBH, LVG simply hasn't got a clue how to beat teams. He is now relying on lucky/fortuitous goals, OG and penalties to win games.
MUFC are showing relegation form in the league.

    Check this out: https://gyazo.com/9c419b771f7514b017383940cd55ba1a

Derby definitely have a chance of beating us...no doubt about it.

    ----------De Gea
    -Varela Smalling Blind BWJ
    --------Schneiderlin
    Januzaj Mata Herrera Martial
    ----------Rooney

Lets win this 3-4, toe to toe with these championship fecks.

WTF?! Majority think Derby will win this ? I know we are struggling but c'mon, this is too much. United to win this.
    DDG
    Varela-Smalling-Blind-Jackson
    Schneiderlin-Herrera
    Januzaj-Pereira-Memphis
    Rooney
is what I wish to see, but

    DDG
    Varela-Smalling-Blind-Jackson
    Schneiderlin-Fellaini
    Martial-Mata-Memphis
    Rooney
is what it probably will end up being.

Really think Derby will take this 2-1 and I can see us failing to beat Stoke and Chelsea too. My money right now, unless something drastically changes is LDD for the next three games.

    De Gea
    Varela Smalling Blind Borthwick-Jackson
    Schneiderlin
    Herrera Fellaini
    Lingard Rooney Martial
    ---
Romero; McNair; Carrick, Pereira; Mata, Memphis, Januzaj

“I’m not sure it will quite be a giant-killing if we get a good result on Friday but it will be an upset, and we all know there has been lots of those over the years in the FA Cup,” he said.

Derby manager doesn't consider us to be giant anymore

Telegraph wants us to believe Ancelloti is giving tips on how to beat Utd.

Tips?? Seriously?? You hardly need them :lol::lol::lol:

First game ever that I am going to miss because I don't have the will power to stay up till 3 to watch, I always wondered what was it about the game & the club that made a foreigner with no direct connection stay up so late but don't have it in me anymore thanks to the manager and the club

He's saying he doesn't consider Derby to be some sort of non-league minnows. It's actually quite insulting to them to talk in those terms. They're a 130 years old club with a stadium bigger than all but the 10 biggest in the Premier League. They spent £25m on players last summer alone and they're being asked if they think it will be a giant killing as if they're Yeovil Town or Oxford City.

That makes a lot more sense

This game is probably the game I am least excited about in the last twenty years or so.

What we should do for this game....

    De Gea
    Varela Smalling Blind CBJ
    Pereira Schneiderlin Herrera
    Januzaj Rooney Memphis
Martial needs a rest. Januzaj, Pereira and Memphis need starts. Back 5 picks itself since we have nobody else fit.

What we will see (I at least hope he drops Lingard who's been dreadful)

    ---------------De Gea----------
    Varela--------Smalling----Blind---CBJ

    -------------Schnei----Fellaini--------

    Mata------------Herrera-----------Martial
    ----------------Rooney------------

What we all want to see

    ---------------------De Gea--------------
    Varela-----------Smalling------Blind-----CBJ

    ------------Schneiderlin----Herrera------------

    Januzaj-----------Pereira------------Depay-------
    -----------------Rooney---------------

Got a feeling if Jesse Lingard plays, he might actually have a good game and score.

He'll want to show up against a team he used to play for and, sadly, around about there or lower/mid table Prem might just be his level.

I predicted a Derby win thinking how negative I've become and how poor we are, but then I saw the percentages, and realized more than one third of the forum thinks we can't beat them.

I don't think I'll bother watching. It's going to be boring and disappointing even if we somehow manage to nick a win.

Love to see Memphis, Januzaj and Periera get a start in this - id like to see

    --------------------------------DDG-------------------------------
    Varela-------Smalling------Blind-----------------CBJ
    ------------------Herrera------Morgan--------------------
    Periera----------------Mata-------------------Januzaj
    -------------------------------Memphis---------------------

Thought Memphis did well at 9 vrs Watford and i like the pace and balance of this side - Mata has barely played and Martial could use a rest

I can't speak for everyone, but I want to see Martial myself. In fact I'd have more faith in the top team than the bottom team there.

I think Martial will play. I don't think LVG will take any risks as he knows he is gone should we fail to win. It will be a "full strength" team in my opinion (or what he deems to be our strongest team)

Agreed. That's what I took out of the press conference.

All logical reasoning indicates we will be knocked out.

    Team should be...

    ---------------De Gea---------------
    Valera---Smalling---Blind---Jackson
    -------Morgan--------Fellaini--------
    Mata----------Herrera----------Januzaj
    ---------------Rooney---------------

Subs: Romero, McNair, Carrick, Memphis, Martial, ???, ???

Yes but he clearly needs a rest, he has not been dropped in "my team" based on ability to be fair.

I'd like to see Memphis and Januzaj start on the wings. Martial up top with Rooney as the #10. Play Morgan and Fellaini or Morgan and Herrera behind Rooney. Not many options other than what you picked for defense.

It seems so wrong that it's a match between Derby and Manchester United and I can't even visualise United winning.

I remember the feeling in 2008.

The 'believe' sign, being "champions of England, champions of Europe, champions of the World" that feeling we could beat anyone, anywhere.

Difficult to raise enthusiasm for this game, trying times. I think we will scrape a draw. We should rest some players especially those that looked tired during the last game. Depay and Pereira should play we need some energy.

    Expection:

    Rooney
    Memphis Pereira Herrera Mata
    Schneiderlin
    Blind Smalling McNair Varela
    deGea

    Reality:

    Martial Rooney
    Herrera
    BoJack Fellaini Schneiderlin Lingard
    Blind Smalling McNair
    deGea

That's the lineup i would like to see. Carrick for Morgan after 60minutes or so.

Just saw my own post and thought 'I agree' until I realised what I was reading

All logical reasoning indicates we will be knocked out.

A few logical reasons why we *might* not:

    - Derby are in terrible form, have lost their previous two games by 3 goals
    - Derby rested players in the last round and might do so again - to prioritize promotion
    - Derby's manager is inexperienced
    - Van Gaal is unlikely to field a weakened team as a defeat could get him the sack
    - We're out of UCL, the title race and League Cup so it's one of two chances of a trophy left
    - We're fifth in the PL, which is shite by our standards, but they are 5th in the division below
    - DDG
    - Martial

    Someone's gotta optimistic, right? :)

4am wake up just to watch MUFC do nothing for 90 mins or watch derby pull a MK Dons, SIIIIIGH

Our team is a clear underdogs for this match, we need to be in top form and with lots of luck to nick a win. Hopefully we can create an upset for them!

    I support United.

TBF, we struggled against Derby both home and away that season, IIRC. Or at least the away game where it took a Ronaldo goal to beat them.

Martial should play. This is United's only realistic chance of a trophy this season (although I have my doubts).

This could go either way. Derby have been in a poor vein of form recently but I think the atmosphere on the night could push them over the line. I'm going for 2-0 Derby.

Van Gaal says if he loses, he might be sacked.

You just know that this will be a plucky 2-1 win for us. Then a terrible perfomance against Stoke, but this win will give him at least another month. Especially as we'll likely beat that FC Something-something in the Europa league too.

TWO WHOLE GOALS?? What is this wizardry you speak of?
